We are looking for a Special Events Officer to join our team. You will help plan, deliver, and evaluate events that bring people together, inspire action, and create lasting impact. You will work closely with colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders to make sure every experience is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive.
This role balances hands-on event delivery with strategic input. You will help improve processes, share learning, and make sure events meet the diverse needs of everyone we serve. Flexibility, creativity, and excellent organisation are key.

What You’ll Do
You will coordinate and support events from start to finish. This includes planning, logistics, volunteer coordination, and on-the-day delivery. You will make sure events are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive. You will evaluate events using feedback and insight to improve future events.
You will work with colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders to develop systems, processes, and relationships that support both day-to-day work and long-term goals. You will act as a trusted resource, sharing expertise with colleagues and volunteers. You will also represent Alzheimer’s Society at internal and external events in a professional and inclusive way.

This role demands a unique combination of skills. You’ll be a capable Programme Manager (or at the very least an aspiring one with a strong desire to step up from your current youth experience), with an understanding of the role outdoor adventure can have in supporting health and wellbeing and underpinning personal development.
In addition to this, we’ve got big ambitions to develop an events strand to our work, which brings together three separate but interlinked fundraising ideas. The Role
Programme Manager (~35% of the role) – We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Programme Manager who can lead the delivery of our Core Programme, having the ability to directly work with young people, lead a team, have an acute eye for detail and organisation and a creative, dynamic approach to problem-solving. The Programme Manager role takes up around 80 days a year, with the days being weighted unevenly across the months of the year.
Events Coordinator (~65% of the role) – We are looking for a driven and creative Events Coordinator who will help us create a Basecamp calendar of external events, which will support our fundraising goals and bring a large and diverse audience to our work. The right candidate will be excited at the prospect of turning ideas into a reality, supporting us with the creative development of this idea as well as the practical implementation.
Programme Manager Roles and Responsibilities
Acting as the key point of contact to organise, deliver and oversee the Basecamp Core Programme to 1 cohort of young people, including managing residential trips, school workshops and other supporting sessions throughout the year’s programme (e.g. Taster Days, Graduation etc) (September - June).
This includes:
Onboarding young people onto the programme, working in collaboration with schools to ensure our referral criteria are met and we have the information we need.
Facilitating creative, arts and games-based workshops in school.
Supporting day-to-day administration and management of the programme including maintaining a database and producing written communications and reports.
Coordinating Adventure Youth Coaches, Volunteers, Instructors and School Supporting Staff on residential, as the main point of contact.
Managing disciplinary action as required if a situation is escalated higher than Adventure Youth Coaches or Volunteers.
Ensuring the highest standards of support, safety and safeguarding across the programme, in line with Basecamp’s ethos, policies and procedures.
Providing ongoing feedback to young people, parents, carers and schools, through email, Whatsapp and handwritten cards.
Working with partner organisation such as schools and instructors/activity providers, to ensure the Basecamp mission is consistent and everybody has the smoothest experience possible and to build the Basecamp ‘brand’ to an extent that the schools want to keep working with us and value the work that we do.
Contributing to organisational planning and development, including supporting the development of further opportunities for young people.
Events Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities
Supporting our team to create, develop, test and implement a calendar of Basecamp events including third-party challenge events, Basecamp events and bespoke corporate adventure challenges. This calendar will support the building of both our new corporate partnerships programme, an innovative new take on traditional corporate fundraising as well as getting our brand-new Basecamp Community off the ground, our own version of an individual giving initiative.

Identifying key networking opportunities to help us raise our profile in West Yorkshire.

Person Specification
The postholder will play a key role in the development and delivery of both programme and charity events. They will be a brilliant ‘all-rounder’ who can go from speaking to a group of 30 children in a muddy field, to being comfortable behind a laptop researching potential corporate partners, to feeling confident in creative meetings where our ideas become a reality. We are looking for someone with a strong creative drive, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the natural ability to use initiative. Operations Director:

The Longford Trust was set up in 2002. Each November, it stages an annual Longford Lecture and awards an annual Longford Prize. It is the only programme of its type across the UK, supporting more than 600 individuals so far, with over 100 current award-holders, as well as many alumni who continue to be part of the trust. Job Title: Commercial Manager

Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.
Purpose of the Job
Commercial Manager will identify, develop and manage top food partners relationships and strengthen existing business relationships with companies in the food industry, generating value for the partner and to secure growing and sustainable volumes of surplus food for the FareShare Network. For designated top food partners, you will be their day-to-day point of contact with regular face to face contact at all levels.
You will undertake structured, strategic account management, leading and coordinating FareShare’s engagement across our organisation. This will mean agreeing and executing a bespoke joint business plan with each account to get more food, money and strategic support. You will also feedback on ways that we can better support our accounts and improve our services to them. You will work directly and be on-site with top food partners to help identify and overcome the barriers which exist to giving surplus food to people in need as well as increasing money and strategic resource.
You will also be required to work closely with FareShare colleagues within FareShare and across the UK in our partner organisations in order to identify and understand opportunities for creating mutual and shared value.
Duties and Responsibilities
Partnership Management
• Contribute to the development of consistent, structured Joint Business plans with
designated accounts that take into account food, funding and other strategic initiatives to drive growth in food, money and other strategic resources
• Work on behalf of the account to develop and embed services relevant to the account and agreed through the joint business plan – e.g. employability or store level redistribution
• Execute joint business plans and report internally and externally on progress.
• Research and understand your accounts, including key ESG initiatives, waste streams, key personnel within the organisation that will help drive its success and engage the relevant internal departments through both desked based research and face to face contact.
• Proactively drive account forwards and progress these relationships with regular on-site visits and linking FareShare exec with key contacts.
• Keep up to date with industry and charity insights and ensure this is reflected back strategically across ways of working and account management.
Project and Initiative Management
• Be responsible for managing and communicating key projects and initiatives to increase food volumes and strategic value, securing support from a range of stakeholders within food partners and across the FareShare network.
• Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics, Operations and Network Development teams with the aim of optimising food out to our network
• Develop and lead FareShare cross-departmental strategic activity to enable us to derive maximum value from key food partners including liaising with fundraising, marketing and volunteering teams.
We deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.
