Job description

As our Head of Programmes you will be responsible for leading our programmes across multiple London boroughs, leading a team of Programme Managers and Officers to help children live the lives they deserve.

 

  • Accountable to COO
  • Some weekend and evening work required
  • London-based
  • Mostly home working

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership, representing The Kids Network’s values,
  • Effective team management – coordinating, motivating and supporting a growing team of Project Managers and Project Officers,
  • Lead biannual reviews, promote personal and professional development, and oversee performance management,
  • Uphold, develop and implement programmes policies ensuring processes are effectively followed throughout the team,
  • Lead on strategic external relationships, staying on top of industry and community trends which impact our communities
  • Champion our children’s voices and act as an ambassador for the organisation
  • Work with the COO to support the development of the organisational strategy.

 

Management Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the programmes KPIs and set up of new projects, ensuring Programme Managers are keeping clear records of project plans, progress and impact data,
  • Understand funder commitments for each Programme area, ensuring commitments are met, with regular engaging funder reports against progress,
  • Keep track of programme budgets, income and expenditure for each project,
  • Ensure high quality, child-led programmes are delivered, including embedding new processes and learning to strengthen delivery,
  • Review programme processes ensuring our CRM Salesforce system is being maximised and systems and data are being used effectively to work efficiently,
  • Oversee and manage the schools income contribution per project, bringing in a school contribution for a minimum of 50% of new children on the programme (approx. £50k),
  • Implement and lead on developing tools to strengthen The Kids Network’s relationship with schools, such as our impact reports, new school pitches and processes.

Safeguarding

  • Uphold our safeguarding principles and processes to the highest standard as our Designated Safeguarding Officer,
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aware of our processes, including children,
  • Be part of Safer recruitment panels,
  • Lead an annual risk review, and design a year-long work plan to progress our work in the area of safeguarding,
  • Act in compliance with our policies and processes at all times, ensuring our data is stored and managed in line with GDPR

 

About you

We are looking for an empathetic leader with strong interpersonal skills combined with an action-oriented, strategic, data-driven lens. You love motivating teams and are target driven.

Experience of developing project plans, motivating a team, and delivering programmes from a charity perspective is essential.

 

Personal Specification

  • Experience of managing a fast paced team for at least one year,
  • A strategic thinker who is able to hold on to the big picture whilst designing and delivering activity plans,
  • Experience leading teams meeting KPIs,
  • Prior experience working with children and/or recruiting, managing and overseeing volunteers,
  • Experience in following safeguarding processes,
  • Experience working with schools and referral partners,
  • Non-judgemental, self-motivated, pro-active, compassionate and solution focused.

Desirable:

  • Previous DSO experience,
  • Experience of managing and developing a CRM database (preferably Salesforce),
  • Understanding of the UK education and charity sector.
