Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families we care for every year. 

The charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting-edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. We also fund a range of programmes and special projects such as our ward musicians, our on-site magician and the play specialists we have on every ward. 

About this role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Philanthropy Team in a brand-new role that will play a key part in securing transformational funding for Alder Hey Children's Charity. 

As Bid Writer, you will lead on the development of compelling, high-quality funding applications to large-scale national grant programmes and, over time, statutory funding bodies. Collaborating across the Charity and the hospital, you will translate complex clinical, research and capital projects into persuasive, evidence-led cases for support that inspire investment in the future of children's healthcare. 

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys writing, research and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll bring together ideas, evidence and expertise to shape ambitious projects into funder-ready proposals with the potential to make a lasting difference for children and families. 

We're looking for an excellent communicator with outstanding writing skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Whether you're an experienced bid writer or bring transferable experience developing funding proposals, this is an opportunity to make a real impact as part of an ambitious and growing fundraising team. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

Bid Development & Writing 

• Lead the development and writing of high-quality funding applications to national grant programmes and, over time, statutory funding opportunities. 

• Produce compelling, tailored funding applications that clearly demonstrate need, impact and outcomes. 

• Manage a varied pipeline of funding applications, ensuring multiple deadlines are delivered to a consistently high standard. 

Research & Opportunity Development 

• Research and identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity's strategic priorities. 

• Develop and maintain a proactive pipeline of opportunities, working closely with colleagues across the Charity. 

Collaboration & Project Development 

• Work with clinicians and charity colleagues to gather information and develop strong funding propositions. 

• Translate complex clinical and technical information into accessible, engaging and persuasive cases for support. 

Quality & Continuous Improvement 

• Ensure applications meet funder guidance and eligibility criteria

• Maintain accurate records of applications and outcomes using the charity CRM. 

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid writing processes, templates and resources across the team.

Additional Information 

In April 2025, the charity adopted a four-day working week policy. Staff previously working 37.5 hours now work 30 hours across four days, maintaining full pay while supporting a better work-life balance.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a visionary educational content writer and high-impact Senior Lead to maintain the quality of our world-class educational programmes. This is a unique role for a creative thinker with a deep pedagogical background and a relentless passion for bringing global current affairs to the heart of the classroom. Working in collaboration with our programmes team, and leveraging the journalistic excellence of The Economist Group, you will define the standard for global news education.

In this fixed-term role, you won't just create lessons; you will engineer innovative, nuanced, discussion-based frameworks that challenge children to master complex global topics and build essential critical-thinking and communication skills. As a Senior Lead, you will drive the development of our Headlines programme, aligned with our ambitious strategic goals, bringing flair and originality to our globally-relevant resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design world-class classroom resources

• Research, pitch and execute sophisticated lesson plans that distill the world's biggest issues into diverse, nuanced and rich learning experiences

• Set the benchmark for quality by writing, editing and proofreading high-impact teaching resources

• Collaborate with our Graphic Designer to ensure our content is as visually compelling as it is intellectually rigorous

• Apply our house style, pedagogical approach and editorial voice consistently across all content

Programme leadership and innovation

• Proactively analyse shifts in global curricula and educational trends to ensure our products remain the market leader

• Craft high-level website copy and teacher-facing materials that articulate the unique value of our programmes

• Conduct school visits to observe, evaluate and occasionally model the delivery of Topical Talk lessons

• Partner with the Director of Programmes to implement rigorous monitoring and evaluation frameworks which track and scale programme success

Workshop delivery

• End-to-end execution of student workshops and events, from the idea-generation stage to writing, proofreading, delivery and evaluation

• Deliver expert-led training that empowers teachers to maximise the impact of our resources

Strategic relationship management

• Work at the highest level with The Economist’s journalists to translate complex global issues into engaging educational content

• Identify and interview world-leading topic experts to enrich our work with unique insights

• Manage complex timelines and stakeholder expectations with precision to ensure all milestones are met

This role will involve some travel. It also involves working with young people, so you will need to have an enhanced DBS check (which The Foundation will organise).

We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Shared Interest Foundation team, we are continuing to expand our reach and enhance our impact and are now seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide maternity cover for a 12-month fixed term contract.   Start Date 1st September 2026.

Shared Interest Foundation is a dynamic and mission-driven charity dedicated to the development of sustainable enterprises, empowering women and youth, and building climate resilience in remote communities within Africa and Latin America.

In this role you will support and contribute to the Foundation’s growth by developing and contributing towards the effective delivery of projects in line with the mission and strategy of Shared Interest Foundation.

Responsibilities include: 

• Work with Foundation Manager and Project Officers in regions to develop potential new projects and new partners 

• Responsible for the Grants and Trusts Fundraiser incumbent to ensure the objectives of this role are fulfilled.Support the Grants and Trusts Fundraiser to deliver effective grant management, helping to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the agreed budget, timeline and project objectives. 

• Provide oversight of the restricted fundraising process and support the Grants and Trusts Fundraiser to research, write and submit accurate and persuasive funding applications.

• Lead on development and submission of high-quality project reports, with support from the Grants and Trusts Fundraiser.

• Maintain and further develop strong partnerships with project partners and key stakeholders.

• Work collaboratively with the Membership and Volunteer Engagement Manager to maximise volunteer support in line with the Foundation’s Strategic Plan. 

• Lead on the provision of project content for marketing and communication materials and work with the Marketing and Communications team to raise awareness of the Foundation through digital platforms and printed materials

• Take an active role in Foundation business planning and budget development

About you 

You will be an experienced project and fundraising professional with a strong track record in project development, grants and trusts fundraising, and delivering complex programmes from concept through to reporting. You will be an exceptional communicator who can build effective relationships with partners, donors, colleagues and beneficiaries across cultures and time zones, while producing clear, persuasive funding applications and high‑quality project reports. You will be organised, proactive and analytical, confident managing multiple priorities, budgets and deadlines, and comfortable contributing to strategic planning. A commitment to fair trade, international development, and the mission of Shared Interest is essential, along with the ability to work flexibly within a small, collaborative team, as well as providing line management support.A degree and or relevant experience in international development is a must and working knowledge of French or Spanish would be an advantage.

As the Facilities Officer at Southwark Cathedral, you will work as a key part of the Property team – co-responsible for the set-up and maintenance of spaces such as the Cathedral’s conference rooms and for health, safety and security on site. Working closely with the Head of Property, Facilities Manager and other members of the Property team and Verger team, you will be at the forefront of making the Cathedral site safe, tidy, functional and sustainable.

Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. Now it stands on the vibrant and exciting regenerated south bank of the Thames surrounded by cultural venues such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, the offices of major companies as well as schools and diverse residential communities. It is an inclusive Christian community that offers a welcome to all. 

The Cathedral’s mission, ministry and musical tradition are core to its life as a Cathedral and a parish church serving the community. It also relies on the valuable financial contribution made by its income generating activities such as its shop, café, conference rooms, corporate events and concerts. It is a very busy place, attracting 290,000 visitors a year to the Cathedral, its churchyard and medieval herb garden. The Cathedral relies on a small but dedicated team to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Site and Facilities Assistance 

• General porterage, to include moving and installing of pack-away furniture as required; 
• Shifting of furniture between rooms and storage across site to meet needs of Cathedral; 
• Assistance with delivery of tea, coffee and finger-food refreshments to conference and meeting rooms for internal meetings and external clients. Food & Hygiene Level 2 required (training given); 
• Light cleaning as required, including bin-emptying; 
• Top-up cleaning of toilets and washrooms, to retain fully functioning facilities for conferences, meetings and events; 
• Replenishing washroom supplies, e.g. soap, paper hand towels, toilet roll, etc; 
• Assistance with some high-level housekeeping in the Cathedral church and throughout the site, e.g. heritage cleaning, hanging decorations, lights, etc; 
• Assist Facilities Manager with simple tasks of general building maintenance;
• Maintain tidiness of the cleaning and furniture stores; 
• Remove waste and bulky redundant items from rooms and storage areas for on-site collection; 
• Carry out regular site inspections to ensure that the entire Cathedral precinct is kept free from litter and in good order with signage and barriers correctly placed

Security, Health and Safety

• Remain vigilant at all times for the security of the Cathedral premises; 
• Check that public areas and working areas and practices are kept safe and free from trip, slip and other hazards; 
• Take action when needed to implement emergency procedures; 
• Act as Fire Marshall and Lockdown Marshall (training given); 
• Ensure compliance with relevant Heath and Safety legislation and statutory codes of practice; 
• Liaise with the Property Team and Head Verger over any issues of concern with regard to Health, Safety & Security. 

Conference Rooms 

• Work with Property Team managing the preparation of conference rooms including audio visual equipment requirements; 
• Ensure conference and meeting rooms are set with appropriate furniture and equipment for event or meeting in timely fashion; 
• Manage week-day room-setting according to Cathedral diary and to meet different departments’ event requirements; 
• Provide operational audio-visual support to clients to provide presentation- and meeting-standard IT functions.

Sustainability 

• Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Cathedral’s energy management and waste strategies including liaising with waste management suppliers, reading utility meters, changing fittings to LED light bulbs;
• Light garden maintenance where required.

Gray’s Inn Road is a 16-bed short-stay accommodation service supporting people with a recent history of rough sleeping to stabilise, rebuild confidence and move towards a home of their own. Working at the heart of Camden’s response to homelessness, the service aims to ensure that rough sleeping is rare, brief and non-recurrent, with most residents moving into suitable longer-term accommodation within three to six months.

As Resettlement Worker, you’ll take the lead on helping residents navigate that next step. You’ll build a clear picture of each person’s housing needs, strengths and aspirations, creating practical resettlement plans and identifying move-on options that are safe, realistic and sustainable. Working closely with Support Workers, you’ll help residents overcome barriers, prepare for independent living and feel confident about what comes next.

You’ll develop strong relationships with housing providers, landlords and partner agencies, opening up opportunities across social housing, supported housing and the private rented sector. You’ll bring persistence, creativity and a strong understanding of housing pathways to make sure people are not simply moved on, but supported into accommodation where they have the best possible chance of thriving.

Birmingham Settlement is looking to build its Money Advice Team and has several vacancies for experienced Debt & Welfare Benefit Advisers.

As an experienced Adviser you will already have a background in providing effective, high-quality debt and welfare benefits advice to a wide range of clients in differing circumstances.

Based at one of our offices in Ladywood, Kingstanding, or Newtown, and with outreach work in other areas of the city we are looking for Advisers with drive, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to support our clients to get the outcomes they need. You will be adaptable, solution focused and possess excellent communication skills along with a flexible approach and ability to manage your own workload.

You will be joining a long established and professional Money Advice Team providing specialist advice with a holistic approach that covers all areas of debt and welfare benefit along with financial literacy training to build and continually improve money management and financial capability.

The Head of Grants will take a leading role in shaping The Childhood Trust’s grant-making approach. This is both a strategic and practical role - the postholder will manage the full cycle for our existing grant-making (Big Give) campaign and oversee a small team. Working closely with the Director of Programmes and Impact, Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and Board, they will use evidence, learning and sector insight to help design and deliver the next phase of The Childhood Trust’s grant-making programme. This is a role for someone who can work independently, take ownership and make things happen. 

The postholder will also use their experience and sector knowledge to recommend and implement new ways of supporting the sector through our new capacity building programme (Thrive Together), ensuring that The Childhood Trust’s grant-making is both innovative and impactful. They will contribute to the development of our youth voice work and ensure that the voices of children and young people are embedded across all aspects of grant-making.

This role delivers one to one case work including ongoing support to resolve both immediate and crisis situations, in the main relating to welfare benefits, referring to appropriate support agencies and other ICCM services promoting a multiagency approach. This is a fixed term role to cover for Maternity Leave (9 Months)

· Delivering client focused, culturally appropriate support services for the benefit of members of the Irish community in Manchester on an appointment office basis, drop in service, and on outreach for those with mobility issues facilitating access to mainstream health, housing, education and employment services.

• To provide support to members of the Irish community who are vulnerable through age, poor physical or mental health, homelessness, risk of homelessness, drug/alcohol use, offending, hate crime, social and cultural isolation etc.
• To complete an initial assessment of Service Users’ needs, presenting issues and risks, making onward referrals to statutory and other voluntary support agencies as appropriate for people to access specialist support
• An understanding of how to deal with people who have experienced trauma.
• Inputting all client based work onto the CMS; maintaining accurate and up to date case files and reporting.
• To facilitate the successful running of ICCM’s health and well being activities as required.
• To promote the wider work of ICCM, facilitating pathways to support where needed.
• To be aware of and maintain best practice in safeguarding.
• To commit to continuous professional development and keep up to date with best practise in the sector.
• To attend relevant training, conferences and seminars locally, regionally and nationally as directed by line manager.

• Lead Quality Assurance: Conduct file reviews and case audits to maintain compliance with FCA regulations and the Advice Quality Standard (AQS).
• Support the Team: Act as the technical point of escalation, providing daily guidance, coaching, and feedback to advisers and volunteers.
• Manage Complex Cases: Oversee high-level casework, including Debt Relief Orders (DROs), bankruptcy, and severe housing arrears.
• Drive Performance: Monitor team outcomes against local project targets to ensure efficient and impactful service delivery.

What we are looking for:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience delivering specialist money or debt advice.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or checking the work of other advisers. 
• Ability to manage a challenging caseload, meet targets and prioritise work in the face of competing demands on your time.
• Ability to respond sensitively to clients from a variety of backgrounds who are under pressure and negotiate with third parties in order to minimise conflict.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

In this role, you will take ownership of a caseload of individuals at risk of homelessness, delivering proactive and outcome-focused interventions that prevent homelessness and support sustainable housing solutions. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for achieving service targets, monitoring performance against key outcomes, and ensuring statutory duties are met within required timescales.

Using your specialist knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, you will carry out detailed housing assessments, identify barriers to housing stability, and develop practical, co-produced Personal Housing Plans that drive measurable results. You will actively negotiate with landlords, housing providers, local authorities and partner agencies to secure accommodation and prevent tenancy breakdown wherever possible.

The role requires strong case management and excellent organisational skills, as you will manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and ensure all actions are progressed promptly. You will be expected to monitor outcomes, track performance, and contribute towards contractual and service KPI delivery, ensuring that intervention targets are consistently achieved.

You will build and maintain effective partnerships across the housing sector, welfare services and community organisations, identifying opportunities that improve housing outcomes for clients. Success in this role will require persistence, resilience and a solution-focused mindset, with a strong emphasis on achieving positive move-on outcomes and reducing homelessness across the service.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. The ideal candidate will have knowledge, experience or relevant qualifications relating to housing and homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act, private rented sector housing, eviction processes, welfare benefits and tenants' rights. They will understand the causes of homelessness and have experience delivering effective interventions that achieve tangible outcomes for individuals facing housing challenges.

You will be comfortable working within a highly target-driven environment, managing a busy and demanding caseload while balancing multiple priorities and competing deadlines. You will be motivated by achieving results, able to monitor your own performance against service targets, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes within required timescales.

We are looking for someone with strong influencing and negotiation skills who can build productive relationships with landlords, housing providers, local authorities and other key stakeholders. You will be commercially aware in your approach, confident presenting housing solutions, and able to overcome barriers to secure positive housing outcomes for clients.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated and confident working independently with a high level of autonomy. They will have excellent IT skills, experience maintaining accurate case records and databases, and the ability to analyse information and make informed decisions quickly.

Most importantly, you will be resilient, proactive and outcome-focused, with a genuine passion for preventing homelessness and helping individuals access and sustain suitable accommodation.
