About The Role
Every day, people affected by dementia are faced with questions about what comes next. For some, taking part in research offers hope, purpose, and the chance to shape the future of care. But finding the right opportunity, and understanding what it involves, is not always easy.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we believe access to research should be clear, inclusive, and open to everyone. This is where the Alzheimer’s Society UK Dementia Trials Network (UKDTN) Trial Finder comes in. It connects people living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, their families, and healthcare professionals, with accessible information on clinical trials which are open to recruitment across the UK; helping them take that next step with confidence.
We are looking for a Medical Writer to join our Trial Finder team who can bring clarity to complexity and turn clinical information into something people can truly understand. Your work will directly support people to feel more in control of their journey and make informed decisions about whether research participation is right for them.
You will be part of the Research and Influencing directorate, working closely with the Alzheimer’s Society UK Dementia Trials Network Research Nurse Programme, Data and Digital teams, Research Communications team, Participation colleagues, and external partners across the UK dementia research community. Together, you will help ensure that opportunities to take part in research are visible, accessible, and meaningful.
About the role

- Turn detailed clinical trial information into clear, accessible stories that help people understand what a study involves and why it matters.
- Work alongside clinicians, researchers, NHS teams, and study sponsors to ensure every summary is accessible, accurate, up-to-date and reflects real opportunities to take part.
- Manage a steady flow of new and evolving studies, prioritising your work to meet timelines while maintaining a high quality and attention to detail.
- Keep the Trial Finder platform accurate and easy to navigate by uploading and updating content within the content management system.
- Create and refine supporting content across the Alzheimer’s Society website, helping people feel informed and confident about participating in clinical research.
- Maintain organised records of study listings and updates, ensuring information is reliable and easy to track.
- Support wider storytelling and awareness by contributing to communications that highlight research opportunities and their impact.

- You are skilled at translating complex scientific or medical information into clear, understandable language that connects with a wide range of people.
- You understand the world of clinical research and feel confident working with clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders.
- You are organised and proactive, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver work accurately within deadlines.
- You value collaboration and build strong, respectful relationships, while also taking ownership of your work.
- You are motivated by purpose, with a strong commitment to inclusion and a genuine desire to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
