BVSC has a long history of providing infrastructure and employment support around children, young people and families in Birmingham. It is our intention to grow our offer for Children, Young People and Families at BVSC. Amongst other activity, the larger projects that we are involved in are:
- ‘Early Help’ activity that covers all of Birmingham. Early help is the total support that improves a family’s resilience and outcomes or reduces the likelihood of a problem getting worse.
- Delivery of the ‘Dream Team’ Bed Poverty Pilot, improving physical, mental, educational, social & economic outcomes by supporting children and families to have access to appropriate sleeping arrangements.
- Mobilisation of the ‘Multi-Bank’, a community donations hubs where companies can donate a wide range of surplus products to support individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. An anti-poverty initiative: it's an antipollution solution, preventing landfill, repurposing goods, and helping to create a circular economy.
The role
BVSC’s Children, Young people and Families team participates in extensive partnership work with voluntary and statutory sector partners. Together we are transforming the way Birmingham supports children, young people and families to help them lived more fulfilled lives.
The Coronavirus pandemic led to an increase in demand for Children, Young People and Families provision, and BVSC require an overall lead to focus on the continued development and delivery of our offer.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate complex programme management and systems leadership experience, an understanding of the challenges faced by children, young people and families, and the support mechanisms needed to assist them, as well as a proven track record in building and maintaining partnerships across the private, statutory, and voluntary sector.

We are looking for a freelance Finance & Operations Officer - ideally with charity experience and familiar with Xero - who can support our core team of four as it takes the charity to the next level. Preferably able to work flexibly, the average time required is estimated at one day per week. This may mean dealing with an email or phone call in an ad hoc way from time to time.
Using a network of music industry professionals and youth workers, Grounded Sounds offer engaging, top quality programmes in a highly welcoming and supportive environment. YMCA West Sussex Transitional housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people aged 18-25, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. Our staff team comprises of Supported Housing Support Workers, Mobile Night Workers and two Managers. We offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.
In delivering the role, you will work with the Deputy Supported Housing Manager and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our transitional accommodation service. You will have your own caseload of residents, working creatively and effectively alongside young people to develop their assets and talents and to acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the service by providing consistency and reliability. You will have a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk. There will be times when lone working will be a requirement for this role.
This role is based on site in Horsham and will cover Transitional services across Horsham, Crawley, Burgess Hill and Worthing. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

In delivering the role, you will work on a rota shift pattern, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective, and supportive staff during the day. You will work with the Managers and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our accommodation project. This includes delivering one to one sessions and group work sessions to assist residents to develop personally and socially in order that they grow in confidence and move towards independence. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays. There is a small amount of lone working, but you will get to know the team and project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to provide support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families. The role is permanent, 29 hours per week.
Our work is rewarding but also complex and demanding; you will need to be resourceful and resilient. You will work closely within our supportive Young Lives vs Cancer team, an established NHS multi-disciplinary team and with services in the community.
Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
This role falls under the hybrid-variable category. Your contractual base will be both Home and The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh. You will have the opportunity to work remotely / from home within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements, but the majority of hours will be at the hospital base.

Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people .You will be expected to deliver positive outcomes for all our young people and support them to reach independence, keep safe and maintain their tenancy's. Aside from support workers delivering support there is a strong element of housing management associated wit this role, for example managing rents, raising/monitoring repairs and health and safety.

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled Key Worker for our Key Worker Service in East Berkshire. The role will be diverse and service user centred and would suit someone with significant experience in supporting young people and young adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities and their families.
The day to day work will involve a flexible approach to coordination and direct support for the young person and their family, as well as providing responsive communication at times of increased need. Hounslow Young People is Supported Accommodation Service for young people and young parents aged 16-25 in Hounslow. The Service encompasses a mix of units across six sites supporting 57 vulnerable young people and 19 teen parents. The aim of the service is to empower Young People to move towards independent living, supporting their successful transition from childhood; laying the foundations for healthy, ambitious, and safe adult lives with minimal ongoing support. About the Role:
Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person centred risk assessments; support plans and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people. Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. You will be working as part of the team in Horsham looking after young people aged 16 -17 in a warm and homely environment. Your primary role will be to keep our service and young people, safe. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. In addition, you will complete health and safety checks, ensuring the service is clean and tidy and reporting any repairs. You will be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.
You will work a shift of 8pm-7am on a four night on, four night off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.
