We are seeking an experienced fundraiser with proven success to lead our fundraising work in the Africa region. The role will work closely with Africa team colleagues, central fundraising teams (Institutional Funding, Individuals, and Trusts and Foundations) and with our cross-cutting teams based both in the UK and in region. Key external relationships are with multilateral and bilateral government agencies, intergovernmental bodies and other funding organisations. The role will be key to building capacity in fundraising and donor related skillsets, both within the Africa team and with partner organisations, whilst at the same time playing a critical role in securing the funding we need to enable conservation impact and ensuring that nature underpins development and well-being across the region.

The successful candidate will have a Proven track record in leading successful large scale funding proposals, from overall design and writing of content through to logframe and budget development as well as proven ability to secure funding from multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies (including statutory donors) and the private sector.

With fluency in English, you will have excellent communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical audiences and a proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of individuals and organisations.

A good technical background and understanding of a range of conservation issues is essential as is proven experience of influencing donor priorities, negotiating and approving statutory donor grant agreements.

You will have a commitment to building the capacity of local teams and experience in mentoring individual and in developing and delivering training materials.

About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

The West Midlands and North Wales regions are areas filled with some of our most committed supporters, but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from Birmingham hospitals and out in the community in North Wales, so building relationships with these teams are a must.

About you

Key Responsibilities

1. User Engagement and Relationship Management

• Work with the Engagement Officer to design and coordinate events, workshops, and other engagement activities, both in-person and online, that support community connection and provide valuable resources to users.

• Gather and analyse feedback from users to ensure our services, content, and campaigns remain relevant and responsive to their needs.

• Manage the CRM and membership of the charity in line with the membership policy.

 2. Content Creation and Communications

• Develop and implement a communication strategy for the organisation to set our key messages, approach and KPIs for engaging with individual, community and professional audiences as well as for internal communications.

• Support the Social Media Officer in developing and implementing a communications plan in particular focused on our social media based activities and content creation.

• Oversee and produce high-quality content for digital platforms, newsletters, reports, and publications that engage and inform our audience.

• Lead on creating and placing feature articles, policy briefings and press releases, and serve as the main media contact to ensure consistent, clear messaging. 

3. Policy, Campaigning, and Advocacy

• Work with the CEO to develop and implement, through the Policy and Campaigns Team, a campaigns strategy that responds to the needs of the neuromuscular community and creates positive, meaningful change for our community.

• Collaborate with the Campaigns and Advocacy Officer to formulate and promote evidence-based policy positions, engaging key stakeholders in government, healthcare, and related sectors.

• Support the Campaigns and Advocacy Officer to expand the Pathfinders advocacy service and drive referrals to the service.

• Represent the organisation at events, sector meetings, and forums to build our profile and increase our influence on policy issues relevant to our community.

 4. Team Leadership and Development

• Manage, support, and foster the professional growth of the Engagement Officer, Social Media Officer, and Campaigns and Advocacy Officer, building a collaborative and empowered team.

• Set team objectives and KPIs, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to ensure alignment with organisational goals and impact.

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development

• Cultivate relationships with relevant stakeholders, including influencers, partner organisations, funders, policymakers, and the neuromuscular community.

• Work closely with the CEO to manage community partnerships, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and expanding opportunities for user engagement.

  6. Organisational management

• Support the CEO with the overall running of the organisation by attending meetings of the management committee as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, taking on additional tasks as agreed.

• Provide contingency support to the  Senior Leadership Team to cover essential tasks such as reporting hours to our payroll team in the event of staff absence.

• Maintain an overview of projects and teams across the organisation to provide short-term management and HR support in the event of staff shortages or incapacity.

• Review, approve and document payments in the charity using our software and finance process.

• Support the development of funding bids and project plans for introducing new projects.

• Represent the Senior Leadership Team at external events and in meetings with Trustees and Members.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public policy, engagement, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 3-years experience in a communications, policy, or engagement role, ideally within a charity or non-profit setting.

• Experience engaging directly with user communities and developing outreach initiatives.

• Strong writing and editing skills with experience producing content for a variety of platforms including Youtube.

• Experience managing a small team to achieve strategic objectives.

• Knowledge of or strong interest in the healthcare, disability, or neuromuscular sector is desirable.

• Lived experience of a neuromuscular condition is desirable but not essential.

Princess Alice Hospice is one of the top ten adult hospices in the UK, providing specialist palliative care and support to a community of more than a million people living in Surrey, South West London and Middlesex. 

The Night Response Team (NR) provides specialist on call palliative nursing care between the hours of 22.00 and 08.00, 7 days a week for palliative care patients known to Princess Alice Hospice.

The Team also provides nursing care and assistance to palliative and general patients who are referred from the district nursing service, the OOH’s service (111), local ambulance services SECAMB and LAS, Mole Valley Telecare and Tunstall Community Alarm services. This includes palliative patients who are not known to PAH. Night Response visit patients in their own homes as well as in care and residential homes.

A Night Response shift will be covered by two members of staff per night, usually one RN and an SHCA, occasionally two RN’s.

We are based in an office on the in-patient unit at the Hospice. We receive calls, provide information, support and advice to patients, families, and other health care professionals, whilst visiting patients as required throughout the night.

The Night Response Service brings the skills and expertise of our highly trained and dedicated specialist team directly into the patients homes. This allows patients, their families and carers access to the vital support they need at home, when time matters most, providing the opportunity for patients to remain at home and reducing the need for hospital admissions.  

 About the role: 

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, dynamic and versatile Staff Nurse with excellent interpersonal, communication and telephone triage skills, to join our Night Response Team.

Experience in caring for patients who are terminally ill is essential. You will need to be able to work autonomously and have an excellent understanding of care provision in the community and be involved in auditing the service provided. 

You will need a full driving license with a maximum of 6 points for use of the hospice vehicle (automatic)

You will be motivated, a flexible thinker, and able to adapt to new ways of providing care to reach more patients within the community. You will have excellent communication skills and enjoy assessing the needs of patients, families, and carers.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Specialist to take on the important role of locality team leader in one of our localities.  This will involve both clinical and leadership skills.  There is a potential for this to be a development role for an experienced Specialist Nurse wishing to move in to leadership.

Working under the clinical leadership of the Associate Director of Patient Care and Communities, you will adopt a person-centered, coaching approach to the leadership of a locality team, fostering self-coaching, team working, self-awareness, personal growth and professional competence and development. The role has responsibilities for line management of the multi professional locality team and also deputises when needed.

The role compliments an additional 2 locality leads who work closely together as a peer group across the whole service. This is an exciting role for someone who wants to blend their clinical care, skills and knowledge with clinical and professional leadership.  A minimum of 60% of time will be spent in direct clinical care.

You will ensure clinical practice is reflective of current developments in Specialist Palliative Care and End of Life Care. You will also promote a learning and continuous improvement environment and participate in the development and delivery of educational programs, research and audit

As an Arts Psychotherapist you will promote the recovery of young people and vulnerable adults following a disclosure of child sexual abuse and/or domestic abuse by reducing the emotional, psychological and physical symptoms of child abuse through the provision of early intervention therapeutic assessment, psycho-education, strategies for acute stress symptoms and interventions. This work will be undertaken following pre-trial therapy guidelines until the client has completed the Criminal Justice Process.

• Maintain a caseload and provide accurate, timely and concise electronic records using our online database CharityLog. Ensure record keeping adheres to pre-trial therapy guidelines.
• Provide information to young people and vulnerable adults regarding the impact of the trauma of sexual abuse and/or domestic abuse, the potential for recovery and the promotion of prevention
• Consider and respond to child safeguarding issues when engaging with all children and young people, adhere to the Nottingham City and County Safeguarding Board policies in all assigned work and actively promote children’s best interests. Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies and technical services.
