The Role

The Research Grants Manager leads the design, delivery and governance of the Association’s research funding portfolio. The role ensures that all Association funded research schemes, including fellowships and project grants, are strategically configured, rigorously governed and effectively delivered in line with the Association’s Research Strategy.

The role will ensure that research funding schemes are aligned with external research developments and designed to maximise long-term impact. The role includes formal accountability for embedding high-quality, inclusive and structured lived experience participation within research funding processes.

The Research Grants Manager is the organisational lead for research funding operations, ensuring the Association maintains a sector-leading, transparent and strategically focused funding programme.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the design and operational delivery of Association research funding, including fellowships and project grant schemes.
• Accountable for the governance of funding mechanisms, ensuring fairness, compliance with governance standards and integration within existing research management systems.
• Management of expert review and award decision processes, ensuring robust scientific assessment, transparent decision-making and strategic alignment with organisational priorities.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality and inclusive lived experience involvement within research funding processes.
• Provide authoritative insight about Association funded research to communications, fundraising, policy and service development colleagues to assist with media and fundraising opportunities.
• Contribute to effective financial planning and budget monitoring across all funding schemes, including forecasting, risk management and reporting.

You will:

• Be educated to post graduate level in a science, health, social science or related discipline
• Have experience of research management in a life science setting, including management of research funding award cycles

The Role

The Research Policy and Partnerships Officer monitors UK research policy and governance developments, synthesises evidence and supports preparation of clear internal briefings, policy statements and consultation responses.

Reporting to the Research Policy and Partnerships Manager, the role helps ensure the Association’s research portfolio and the Research Academy remain well aligned to national frameworks and governance standards, and that lived experience is appropriately reflected in system facing outputs.

• Conduct structured horizon scanning across NIHR, UKRI, REF, AMRC guidance and other charity funders to identify opportunities.

Job Description - South Yorkshire Child Poverty Partnership Officer 

Overview 

Resolve Poverty are excited to be working in partnership with Save the Children UK to recruit a South Yorkshire Child Poverty Partnership Officer that will improve outcomes for children and young people living in poverty across South Yorkshire. This new role will mobilise the development of a regional Child Poverty Action Plan, working closely with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and work with complex systems and multiple partners.

Drawing on Resolve Poverty’s expertise in developing strategic local responses to poverty and the work of the Dream Big South Yorkshire: Children & Families Commission, the postholder will be passionate about using this pilot phase to establish the necessary mechanism for a sustainable long-term approach to addressing child poverty across the region.

Particulars: 

Role Title: South Yorkshire Child Poverty Partnership Officer 
Location: Hybrid — based in South Yorkshire with regular presence at South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and Save the Children’s offices in Sheffield and an expectation of some travel to Resolve Poverty’s office in Manchester. 

Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)

Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months, with potential extension dependent on funding. 

Salary: £43,000 to £47,000 (dependent on experience).  

Host and working arrangements 

Employer: Resolve Poverty (host organisation). 

Embedded placement up to 2 days per week within South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) to support regional policy development and delivery. 

Partnership support: Will receive regular technical and programme support from Save the Children UK — South Yorkshire team and work closely with their staff on delivery, stakeholder engagement and safeguarding. 

Background 

The South Yorkshire Child Poverty Coalitionis being established as a collaborative advisory board, co-chaired by key partners and supported by stakeholders including VCSFE infrastructure organisations, policy academics, strategic leads, and national experts. Its mission is to develop and deliver a comprehensive South Yorkshire Child Poverty Action Plan that tackles the root causes of child poverty and leverages opportunities for change at regional, local, and community levels. 

Central to this work is the South Yorkshire Children and Families Commission, a regional body made up of Community Commissioners and Civic Commissioners who blend lived and learned experience to embed the reality of poverty’s impact across our communities. Their voices will shape priorities, decisions, and direction throughout the strategy period, ensuring that the Coalition’s work is grounded in the experiences of those most affected. This role will also ensure that this work aligns with SYMCA’s ambitions to develop a youth engagement strategy.

The Coalition will also play a pivotal role in aligning the Action Plan with the proposed Child Lens Investment Fund. This pioneering approach to child-lens investing—intentionally directing investment decisions based on their potential impact for children and families—offers South Yorkshire the opportunity to maximise social investment to improve outcomes for children and families living in poverty, while strengthening the local economy through funding for businesses, social enterprises, and charities. 

Role Purpose 

The South Yorkshire Child Poverty Partnership Officer will work closely with SYMCA to provide strategic leadership, coordination, and  development of the Child Poverty Action Plan. The role will initially sit within the Violence Reduction Unit as part of an embedded placement, building capacity within the unit to ensure that the Action Plan reflects the work of the unit to embed lived experience, youth voice and preventative approaches to address exploitation and vulnerability. The role will ensure that the Coalition’s work is embedded within wider regional strategies, aligned with local and national frameworks, and driven by lived experience and robust data. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead the Coalition: Convene partners, provide strategic leadership, oversee progress, and manage projects to ensure effective delivery. 

• Build capacity: Strengthen organisational capacity within SYMCA to embed the Child Poverty Action Plan within regional strategies, working closely with the four local authorities. 

• Develop the Framework: Work alongside the Coalition and the regional Commission to design a robust Action Plan framework, informed by data and region-specific priorities. 

• Champion Lived Experience: Promote a culture of participatory production, ensuring that lived experience is embedded and championed throughout the Coalition’s work. 

• Maintain Momentum: Collaborate with Coalition partners to sustain energy and momentum, ensuring the Action Plan feeds into wider opportunities and regional priorities. 

• Set Regional Targets: Based on national child poverty targets and metrics, establish South Yorkshire-specific ambitions with short, medium, and long-term goals to reduce child poverty rates. 

• Empower the Commission: Support the Children and Families Commission to be fully embedded within the Coalition, ensuring it holds equal decision-making power alongside other partners. 

• Advance Child-Lens Investing: Support the development of the Child Lens Investment Fund, aligning investment outcomes with the deliverables of the Child Poverty Action Plan to maximise social impact and economic benefit. 

• Strengthen Partnerships: Hold and nurture relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders—including health, education, transport, and planning sectors—to ensure the Child Poverty Action Plan is supported and embedded across the region. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Proven experience in strategic leadership, partnership working, working with complex systems and project management. 

• Strong understanding of child poverty, social policy, and regional inequalities. 

• Ability to convene diverse stakeholders and build consensus across sectors. 

• Commitment to participatory approaches and embedding lived experience in decision-making. 

• Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills. 

Desirable 

• Experience of working within combined authorities, local government, or regional policy environments.

Benefits and practicalities 

Salary: £43,000 to £47,000 (dependent on experience).

We’re looking for experienced social media and communications professionals to join our freelance moderation team.

Our moderators support a range of charity partners, working across always-on activity as well as high-profile campaigns and appeals. You’ll act as the voice of each organisation — engaging with supporters, answering queries, and ensuring conversations are managed safely and effectively.

This role is well suited as a flexible, additional source of income. Most of our moderators are freelancers or consultants working alongside other roles.

Working pattern

Moderation takes place between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

Rather than working in one continuous block, you’ll complete your hours in short check-ins across the day to maintain coverage and meet response time targets.

Each account is allocated a set number of ‘active moderation hours’ per day (e.g. 2-3 hours), which are spread across multiple sessions.

For example, 3 hours may be split into 5-6 check-ins throughout the day.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, driven and creative Marketing and Events Manager who brings a genuine passion for fundraising and events — and the skills to match. This is not primarily a desk-based marketing role: you will be the engine behind our events programme and a key driver of our fundraising income.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the planning and delivery of CWC’s events calendar, manage our fundraising activities, and oversee the work of the Marketing and Events Officer. You will be equally comfortable developing the strategy and getting stuck into the detail of execution.

Events will be at the heart of what you do. You will take ownership of our flagship event, coordinate a varied programme of fundraising events, sector conferences and networking activities, and ensure every event is professionally delivered and leaves supporters feeling connected to our mission. You will manage relationships with venues, suppliers and sponsors, and keep a close eye on budgets and income targets.

Fundraising will be a core focus. You will be responsible for achieving financial targets from individual and corporate fundraising, developing creative campaigns across platforms such as Enthuse and JustGiving, and building the kind of relationships with supporters and partners that turn one-off donations into long-term engagement.

Alongside this, you will lead and support the Marketing and Events Officer, ensuring our marketing output — social media, newsletters, website content and campaigns — is consistent, engaging and aligned with our strategic goals.

About You

You will have a proven track record in events management and fundraising, ideally within the charity sector. You know what it takes to plan and deliver events from first concept through to post-event evaluation, and you understand how events can drive income as well as awareness.

You will be a confident, organised and proactive person who can manage competing priorities without losing sight of quality or deadlines. You will be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and supporting others to manage theirs.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A proven track record in events management, with demonstrable experience of delivering fundraising income from events
• At least two years’ experience in a charity fundraising or events role
• Experience of line managing or supervising others
• Excellent relationship-building skills with sponsors, corporate partners and individual supporters
• Confidence using fundraising platforms (e.g. Enthuse, JustGiving) and CRM/database systems (Hubspot experience an advantage)
• Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, email marketing tools and website content management
• Experience managing budgets, monitoring income and expenditure, and reporting on financial performance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and strong project management skills
• Genuine enthusiasm for the charity’s mission and the people we support

Knowledge of the health and social care sector would be a distinct advantage, though not essential.

We are seeking a high-performing, experienced, and self-directed compliance professional to provide maternity cover within the Grants, Contracts & Compliance (GCC) department.

This role requires someone who operates with excellence, independence, and sound judgement from day one—a person who is confident navigating complex donor rules, shaping risk‑mitigation strategies, and leading award management processes without needing extensive onboarding. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with proven applied experience, rather than a purely theoretical background.

You will oversee the full lifecycle of European donor‑funded awards, ensuring rigorous contractual and regulatory compliance across Internews. Working closely with colleagues across Programmes, Finance, and Global Development, you will help maintain a culture where doing things right is prioritised over shortcuts.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise with major European donors (European Commission, Sida, FCDO), a proactive mindset, and the ability to lead, train, and influence teams across the organisation. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request: 
 

Compliance

· Review and approve proposal budgets for assigned funding opportunities.

· Review donor agreements and ensure terms are acceptable; support the Director of GCC in strengthening organisational risk‑mitigation practices.

· Advise staff on Internews’ internal and donor rules across the project cycle.

· Work with Programme Officers and cross-functional teams on effective project start‑up, including inductions, adapting award procedures/templates, and ongoing staff training; conduct country visits when required.

· Collaborate with Finance to support successful programme audits.

· Maintain and update organisational data on institutional donor platforms (e.g., EU Transparency Register, IATI).

· Develop and maintain training materials and guidelines for at least one major donor; provide expert compliance guidance across GCC.

· Deliver inductions and training for new and junior GCC staff.

· Set up and maintain complete and up‑to‑date award records in line with donor and Internews requirements.

Development

· At proposal stage, review and approve teaming agreements and NDAs with bid partners.

· Review and approve donor budget submissions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, compliance, and adequacy.

· Coordinate pre‑award due diligence for prospective donors.

· Review and negotiate donor agreements and modifications, managing associated risks.

· Establish and maintain proposal, award, and contract records within the award management system, including significant data entry.

Procurement Management

· Support development of compliant procurement plans.

· Lead and administer higher‑value procurements, including negotiating contractor terms.
