We are excited to recruit a Community Organiser for our Bedford Parent Power project, funded by the Harpur Trust. The Brilliant Club will work in partnership with the Harpur Trust, local schools and university partners to engage with parents in Bedford. This role offers a meaningful, paid opportunity to empower parents and carers to address barriers their children face.
Bedford Parent Power utilises the community organising-based model first created by King’s College London and Citizens UK with South London Parent Power, which has now grown into a movement of 16 Parent Power chapters across the UK. Parent Power supports parents and carers to develop skills in community organising and advice and guidance on accessing higher education, empowering them to make change to support their children’s future and ensure that they have a fair chance in education and their future careers.
Working with us, the Community Organiser will:
- Receive community organising training from Citizens UK and develop transferable skills;
- Build campaigns to combat local educational barriers with parent/carer communities;
- Support the progression of young people by empowering their parent/carers to become higher education experts;
- Join a nationwide community of community organisers making a significant impact on university access.
About you
The role will best suit someone who:
Essential
- Has knowledge of challenges faced in Bedford’s communities.
- Has a demonstrable passion for furthering The Brilliant Club’s mission.
- Can adhere to information security policies included in the charity’s ISO 27001 manual (information security training provided).
Desirable
- Has prior experience of community focused work.
- Understands the current climate in the UK school system and some of the challenges young people and parent/carers might be facing.
- Understands the barriers young people face to university access and some of the ways these might be overcome.

We are seeking a highly efficient, collaborative professional with a keen eye for detail to work closely with the CEO in a supporting role. This role will be critical to the functioning and effective governance of the organisation, providing a broad range of support as required. Tasks will be varied and will involve both supporting our frontline functions and assisting with back-office admin, ranging from providing a compassionate response to people dropping into our office for support or dealing with telephone queries from vulnerable migrants, to processing invoices and assisting in the drafting of fundraising applications.
This is a new post to support efficient administration at HMC, ensuring the smooth running of HMC’s office and providing essential support to the CEO.
We are a busy team supporting a large number of vulnerable people and working hard to deliver impactful services in a challenging external environment. In a small team with limited resources, we all wear multiple hats and this will be a varied and busy role juggling tasks across multiple areas.
This role offers a rewarding opportunity for a highly organised person who is as comfortable delivering public-facing services as they are working alone in deep focus to complete an administrative task or write a report. The ideal candidate is confident speaking to and supporting others, and enjoys administrative tasks, creating and maintaining structure and working in a supportive capacity.

The Department
The Hurlingham Club Foundation was established in 2021 and its mission is to harness the collective strength of the Club to create spaces and opportunities that improve the health, well-being and social connection of people living in underserved areas of our borough.
We aim to achieve this impact this in three main ways through:
· Direct programmes hosted at the Club (including sports, social and wellbeing activities).
· Funding for local charities delivering aligned community initiatives.
· Volunteering and in-kind support opportunities for members and stakeholders.
To deliver all this activity, money is largely raised through member donations at Foundation events and money is also raised through grants and corporate sponsorship.
The Role
As the Foundation Assistant, you will be a vital part of this small, friendly team to ensure that we manage all our events and programmes to raise the most amount of money and deliver maximum impact for people in need in our community.
You will work part time; ideally 20 hours over four days from Monday to Thursday.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Hurlingham Club Foundation in a variety of ways.
Typical duties will include:
Event Coordination
· Supporting the planning and delivery of Foundation events.
· Managing logistics including room bookings, catering, AV, guestlists, security passes and event materials.
· Ensuring events run smoothly from setup through to delivery.
Administration & Finance
· Maintaining accurate records and financial administration.
· Supporting the processing of purchase orders, income and invoices.
Data & CRM Management
· Maintain donor, volunteer and programme databases.
· Support monitoring and reporting of Foundation activity and impact.
Communications & Marketing Support
· Assisting with the website updated and digital content.
· Supporting with and creating presentations and marketing materials.
· Helping to manage and catalogue Foundation photography assets.
Programme Support
· Assisting with delivery of onsite community programmes.
· Welcoming visitors and supporting participant experience.
General Support
· Managing Foundation inbox enquiries.
· Providing day-to-day administrative support to the team and volunteers.

Key experience required includes:
· Experience in office administration or coordination (charity or membership organisation desirable).
· Confidence with financial administration (invoicing, purchase orders, income tracking).
· Experience supporting events, logistics or hospitality-style coordination.
· Strong data management and spreadsheet skills (basic CRM experience advantageous).
· Excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly manner.
· A genuine interest in community impact and supporting charitable work.
