Job description

ABOUT LONDON BLACK WOMENS’ PROJECT (LBWP)

LBWP is a specialist by and for organisation providing refuge, supported accommodation, and wraparound support services for Black and minoritised (i.e. Global Majority) women who are survivors of domestic violence and abuse.

LBWP manage refuges in Newham and Haringey and provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to women and children, supporting them to rebuild their lives safely and independently. Our services include refuge accommodation, dispersed accommodation, advocacy, counselling, and specialist legal advice, with a strong commitment to empowerment, equality, and social justice.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Refuge Case Worker Trainee Programme is a newly funded programme that supports former service users with lived experience, build on their skills, strengths and knowledge, and develop the practical experience needed to progress into refuge Case Worker (or similar) roles. Women with lived experience, particularly Black and minoritised women, can face barriers to employment in the sector. The programme aims to provide a supported and accredited pathway into relevant roles, recognising the value of their insight and experience.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are building a pool of trainers to deliver the programme to successive cohorts. Trainers are contracted per cohort, depending on programme needs and availability. The number and timings of cohorts will depend on trainee recruitment and programme requirements.  Contracts may be extended subject to programme needs and funding.

Each 16-week contract covers:

· 2 weeks of preparation

· 12 weeks of training delivery

· 2 weeks of post-delivery administration and reporting

There will be upto 7 cohorts of trainees who will receive counselling before and during the training, and clinical supervision during the work placement elements of the programme.

The role is open only to Black and minoritised, i.e. Global Majority, women.

You’ll share our commitment to feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive and survivor-centred practice, and understand the barriers Black and minoritised women may face. You’ll be confident in adapting your teaching, giving constructive feedback and responding sensitively to learners needs.

Please see the job description and person specification for full details.

How to apply

Please send your CV and a supporting cover letter explaining how your skills, experience and values meet the requirements of the role

While the closing date is 20th November, we reserve the right to close the application process before the closing date, if we receive significant number of applications

If you need any adjustments to the application process, please contact asap.

We welcome applications from people who have developed relevant skills through professional, community and other experience.
