We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our team to administer the financial affairs of the District. This role will include working closely with the District Secretary and Treasurer to implement financial policies and controls, assisting with preparing budgets and accounts, managing payroll, processing receipts and payments and maintaining appropriate accounting records. 

Role Purpose and Objectives

To administer the financial affairs of the District including preparing budgets and accounts, managing payroll, processing receipts and payments and maintaining appropriate accounting records. 

Responsibilities

Financial Controls and Policies

• Support the District Treasurer to implement proper financial policies and controls, ensuring appropriate accounting codes for churches and charities are complied with.

Budgets and Accounts

• Assist the District Secretary, Treasurer and Resourcing Mission Committee to prepare budget and circuit assessments for the District with reference to the District Mission Plan.
• Work with the District Secretary and Treasurer to prepare annual accounts for the District, including liaising with the auditors and helping to draft the Trustees’ Annual Report, particularly with regard to accounting practice and policies.
• Support the District Secretary as needed to ensure compliance with the Methodist Church and Charity Commission requirements, including supplying the information for HMRC P11D forms.

Payroll

• Ensure District employees’ and ministers’ payroll information is correct and liaise with the central Methodist payroll bureau so that staff are paid on time.

Administration of Bank Accounts

• Monitor cash flow and administer transfers between bank accounts.
• Set up approved payments in online banking and liaise with signatories to authorise these for payment.
• Liaise with the Treasurer and/or District Secretary on transactions with the Central Finance Board and Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes, preparing paperwork to facilitate drawdown of funds.
• Administer changes to banking mandates.
• Administer changes to Direct Debits and Standing Order instructions.

Receipts and Payments/Book-keeping

• Check invoices and expenses claims for accuracy, before sending to authorised persons for approval.
• Record all bank transactions for all bank accounts on a monthly basis.
• Produce monthly fund summaries, with detailed analyses.
• Provide monthly ‘sub-accounts’, where required, for specific projects

Other key tasks

• Manage the District’s Financial Record systems, including archiving information as necessary
• With the District Secretary, review and renew the District’s Insurance Policies. 
• Maintain the District’s Asset Register.
• Other duties commensurate with the role as agreed with the District Secretary.

Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Fundraising team as our Statutory Fundraising Manager. This is a 6 month fixed term, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, based between home and our offices in Kings Cross, London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading statutory fundraising at Sense. This includes both new business work and managing relationships with existing supporters. This exciting new role will act as the bridge between our Operations and Central Services. Duties and Key Responsibilites 

Sarcoma UK’s research programme

• To support Sarcoma UK’s grant application processes under guidance from the Acting Head of Research. This will include calls for proposals, identifying expert peer reviewers, administering a high-quality peer and lay review process, communication with applicants and potential applicants, administration of grant awards and supporting patient involvement.
• To provide support to the Grant Review Panel and Research Strategy Committee, including organising meetings and preparing minutes.
• To manage Sarcoma UK’s portfolio of active research grants, under guidance from the Acting Head of Research. This will include administration of newly awarded grants, monitoring progress of current grants, oversight of grant finances and reporting on final outputs.

• To monitor and gather outputs and long-term impact of research grants funded by Sarcoma UK and support in ensuring these are shared with internal and external audiences.
• To plan and produce engaging and reactive and proactive communications about sarcoma research, including website, social media, written and video content, working with the Acting Head of Research and Communications Team to ensure our research activities and outcomes are shared with the sarcoma community and wider public.
• To proactively engage with grant holders to gather impactful insights and to support engaging communication about sarcoma research.
• To regularly review and update Sarcoma UK’s website with progress updates on research grants and promote funding opportunities.
• To support work undertaken by the Fundraising Team where required, such as lab tours and supplying information about funded grants for donor reports.

External relationships

• To be a point of contact for Sarcoma UK grant holders and their host institutions.
• To maintain positive relationships with Sarcoma UK’s research panels, potential grant applications, researchers and clinicians, and the wider sarcoma research community.
• To work directly with a range of people personally affected by sarcoma to place the voice of lived experience at the heart of our research programme.

• To support the integration of the research programme across Sarcoma UK.

We are looking for a dynamic leader with proven fundraising experience to become our new Head of Fundraising, helping When You Wish Upon a Star to make magical memories for sick children. About the role

As Senior Media and Campaigns Officer, you will play a key role in delivering Wellbeing of Women’s media relations and campaigns strategy. You will be responsible for generating regular, high-quality national and regional media coverage and working on the implementation of impactful campaigns that raise awareness, influence policy, and support the charity’s wider objectives. You will think creatively about how to promote our work through both media engagement and wider campaigning activity across digital and offline channels.

We are looking for a creative and strategic communicator with excellent writing skills, a strong news sense, and the ability to develop engaging content and messages tailored to different audiences. Experience of working with the media is essential, writing reactive lines and pitching to national media, as is a good understanding of campaigning principles and how to mobilise public or stakeholder support. Experience in content creation, campaign planning, and analytics would be an advantage.

This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong initiative, and a collaborative approach. We work in a fast-paced way and are looking for someone who can prioritise competing tasks, write quickly and clearly and has a flexible, can-do attitude. Main duties

Media relations

• Work with the Head of Communications and Campaigns to develop and deliver a proactive PR strategy to increase the reach of the charity.
• Develop PR materials including press releases, pitch angles, interview briefs, and media lists.
• Coordinate accurate and timely responses to inbound media enquiries, liaising with journalists and spokespeople.
• Work on media opportunities for our high-profile ambassadors.
• Support media planning and execution for fundraising partnerships and key organisational milestones.
• Monitor the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, and newswires, for opportunities and coverage relevant to women’s health.
• Analyse and share media coverage internally and externally.
• Take the lead on media measurement and evaluation, compiling regular reports on coverage and impact.

Campaigns

• Support the planning and delivery of integrated communications and advocacy campaigns, such as ‘Just a Period’ and the Health Collective.
• Develop campaign content, and assets (digital, print, social) in collaboration with the wider team.
• Lead on management and expansion of the case study database, interviewing and writing them up and being the charity contact point for all teams looking for case studies.
• Contribute to campaign audience mapping, stakeholder engagement, and supporter mobilisation strategies.
• Support on political engagement work, especially with the Menopause APPG.
• Work on event management related to campaigns.

Wider communications

• Contribute to our digital channels (including social media and website) by drafting engaging content focused on our work.

Marketing Officer

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:

• Email communications - management and scheduling of all email communications to the organisation's database and external audiences, management of email communication's calendar, management of Email Service Provider (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), maintaining integrity of email contact list, and writing copy, building, segmenting and sending emails.
• Support the Marketing Manager with planning, copywriting and coordination of the marketing of the organisation's campaigns across paid, organic and earned media.
• Take the lead on delivery and evaluation of specific marketing campaigns.
• CRM reporting, including setting up dashboards, creating effective reports and working closely with Product & Technology team to ensure CRM is being used to its full potential.
• Ongoing analysis of email reporting and performance to inform future marketing and communications strategies and plans.
• Ensure all emails are on brand; both look and feel and tone of voice.
• Ensure all email campaigns adhere to GDPR consent and data capture regulations.
• Work with colleagues in national teams (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), and other departments to plan and execute regional email campaigns.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to implement, monitor and develop automated e-communications journeys to enhance both marketing and customer service experiences for the organisation's audiences.
• Manage any printed marketing materials such as leaflets, pull up banners, booklets to ensure they are on brand and produced in an environmentally friendly way.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

• Experience of managing email campaigns for a variety of audiences, including drafting content, Email Service Provider (ESP) management (ideally Salesforce Marketing Cloud), A/B testing and performance analysis.
• A good understanding of email data (open rate, click through rate, click through open rate etc.) and how to analyse it in order to inform on-going activity.
• Experience of using a range of analytics tools to help monitor, optimise and evaluate campaign performance including Google Analytics, CRMs and ESPs.
• Experience of using Customer Relationship Management systems (ideally Salesforce) to segment audiences, create campaigns, target audiences and report on activity.
• Experience of managing marketing and communications campaigns across owned, paid and earned channels.
• Management of campaigns and implementing tracking, undertaking evaluation based on performance of KPIs.
• Experience of copywriting and producing content for a range of channels and audiences.
