About the role:

The Social Care IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process, specialising in working with women whose families are involved with Family Children Services and risk to children is a factor.  You will work to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. This role is part advocacy, part training/education and project work to improve response to victim/survivors experiencing domestic abuse. You will be embedded in the local authority Family Children Services team, working with Social Care professionals to ensure they adopt a trauma informed approach, can recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse and are providing more holistic support. You will be the domestic abuse subject matter expert on site, upskilling fellow professionals and acting as a point of contact for any clients experiencing domestic abuse and support requirements from Family Children Services.

The Social Care project was established in 2021 and has been working in partnership with Hammersmith and Fulham Family Children Services, so the IDVAs will inherit strong working relationships and a commitment from all parties to offering more trauma-informed services.  The borough has a focus on prioritising and developing good DA work in social care and this is an opportunity to be a major player in institutional change, ensuring that women accessing Family Children services for their children have an improved experience and that the local authorities are leading the way for all survivors engaging with their services.

Advance delivers nationally accredited, quality marked services in Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent, Ealing, and across parts of East London. We work within a coordinated partnership response to domestic violence to provide independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women, children and young people and women’s community services for women who are involved in the criminal justice system, in anti-social behaviour or are at risk of breaking the law.

About You:

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge on children safeguarding/legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

To be successful as the Social Care IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

• You will establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with housing services and partner agencies.Provide high-quality crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and proactive support to women referred to the service, in respect to risk management and safety planning, criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, welfare rights, and children’s legislation.
• Your abilities extend to assessing the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support and identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs.Advising women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and proactively advocate to ensure barriers to accessing support and protection are reduced. You will work as an advocate and educator to raise awareness and upskill professionals within Children Social Care plus work with colleagues to successfully develop and deliver training.

Role Overview:

Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.

This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 8AM to 6PM. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the North Yorkshire  region, following Brake’s trauma-informed model of care.
• Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.
• Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans
• Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial aid, or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones

Role Purpose

To deliver and develop a high-impact mentoring programme through effective mentor management, community engagement, and high-quality organisation and programme administration around London. This role brings a perfect blend of administration and delivery, giving you ample time to see and speak with children and volunteer mentors, seeing up close the transformation the programme aims to make on children’s lives.

1. Mentor Management & Support 

• Match at least five children per month with suitable volunteer mentors, aligned with individual needs and programme goals. 
• Manage up to 55 active mentor-mentee pairs, leading the administration cycle and our quality framework. 
• Maintain 100% accurate records and communications in our data management system, Salesforce, ensuring full compliance with internal processes 
• Maintain consistent, high-quality mentor communications, including regular check-ins and reviews, ensuring consistent session attendance. 
• Co-deliver training for new and existing volunteer mentors; support community events and in-person meetups, maintaining 90%+ satisfaction in mentor surveys. 
• Drive mentor engagement and experience through the online community platform, reflective sessions, and arranging mentor meetups. 
• Promote long-term mentor involvement, with volunteer mentors contributing beyond core mentoring. 

2. Programme Delivery & Development 

• Support organisational targets across cohorts supporting delivery, volunteer recruitment and fundraising annually 
• Deliver child workshops and check-ins, capturing their voices and tailoring support accordingly. 
• Collect consistent impact from children, caregivers and mentors, ensuring all impact targets are met and ensuring children show positive progress in key outcome areas
• Collaborate with Programme Leaders to identify improvements and co-create new  approaches or resources. 
• Promote child participation and co-creation in all aspects of programme design and delivery, ensuring children's voices inform organisational reporting and development. 
• Plan and arrange group 2-3 mentoring sessions annually with other programme managers 

3. Volunteer, Referral & Community Engagement 

• Work with the volunteer recruitment team to build local partnerships and referral networks to support volunteer recruitment and programme delivery. 
• Maintain strong relationships with referral partners (e.g., schools, community organisations) to ensure a steady referral pipeline and collaborative working and 80% of your schools are retained. 
• Provide updates of the programme to referral partners and share content to internal marketing and schools' colleague to support completing the schools termly impact template 
• Act as a key liaison between mentors and caregivers, supporting clear communication and shared understanding of child development and the programme. 

4. Safeguarding  

• Uphold a strong culture of safeguarding in your work, acting in compliance with our safeguarding policies and procedures at all times. 
• Contribute to TKN safer recruitment processes, attending internal mentor training events to vet prospective mentors. 
• Review and assess weekly delivery session reports from mentors, updating Salesforce as required. 
• Ensure every child participating in the programme experiences a positive ending in line with TKN positive ending guidance. 
• Work collaboratively with DSLs to follow TKN safeguarding processes, escalating where needed

• Relationship Management: Build and maintain trust with mentors, children, schools, caregivers, and community partners. 
• Communication: Clear, professional communication across diverse stakeholders including written reports, training, phone calls, meetings and in person check-ins. 
• Data & Impact Tracking: Confident in using data management systems, ideally understanding of salesforce and other tools to track progress, outcomes, and ensure data accuracy.

· Ensure all corporate relationships receive exceptional stewardship and that appropriate cultivation plans are developed, maintained and implemented – in particular, quality and timely reporting of impact achieved against funding provided.

Join Shelter Scotland as our Partnerships Coordinator and help shape the future of empty homes work in local authorities across the country. As part of the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership (SEHP), you’ll support councils funded to support their work in bringing empty homes back into use at scale, ensuring projects are well managed and key milestones met.

About the role 

This role is an integral part of the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership (SEHP) team. The key responsibility will be to manage contracts and relationships across the councils that have received funding for additional Empty Homes Officers (EHOs) to bring empty homes back into use at scale. You will work closely with the existing Partnership Officer role that focuses on providing support to the existing network of EHOs.

Role specifics 

As Partnerships Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in managing new contracts with councils, meeting with key stakeholders to agree terms and supporting the development of detailed project plans with clear milestones. You’ll chair regular advisory group meetings to monitor progress, identify and address any emerging issues, and work collaboratively with councils to find solutions. Promoting the role and impact of Empty Homes Officers will be central to your work, as will providing hands-on support through best practice sessions and tailored training, developed in partnership with the SEHP team.

To succeed, you’ll need strong experience in stakeholder and project management, confidence in delivering CPD and training, and the ability to build productive, trusted relationships. A proactive, solutions-focused approach is essential, as is a solid understanding of Scotland’s housing policy landscape—experience with empty homes work or local authority systems will be a distinct advantage.

About the team 

The Scottish Empty Homes Partnership Team are made up of 10 staff members. Led by our National Manager, we have a Communications, Policy and Projects branch of the team. This role falls within the Projects team.

The Scottish Empty Homes Partnership is funded by the Scottish Government and works to four overarching outcomes to bring privately owned empty homes back into use:

1. Strategy: A strategic approach to bringing empty homes back into use is adopted across the country, enabling better targeting of resources and tracking of progress to bring more empty homes back into use.
2. Capacity: Local authorities, and other organisations with a focus on housing delivery, are able to evidence the benefits of employing dedicated empty homes officers.
3. Skills Empty homes officers undertake continuous professional development, and new officers receive consistent training to ensure they are fully equipped to undertake the role, leading to improved delivery.
4. Advice: More empty homes are delivered back into use through clear, consistent advice and support to empty homeowners and anyone else impacted by empty homes.

Do you have fundraising management experience within charitable organisations, specifically individual giving?

Salary up to £37,000 depending on your skills and experience with excellent benefits including generous holiday allowance, health and wellbeing support, staff discounts, pension, essential coverage including life assurance, critical illness and income protection.

This role is hybrid working from the office 50/50 working from home. You can work from either the Redhill, Surrey or Rochester, Kent office, whichever is closest to you.

This is a full time, permanent position, either working Monday to Friday 9-5 or you can do compressed hours across 4 days working 9-6 or similar.
