What will I be doing?

• Providing hands-on care and support to patients in their daily living, including personal care and eating and drinking, according to their individual needs. • Offering emotional support and a compassionate presence; a listening ear, empathy, and understanding during difficult times. Creating a warm and nurturing environment where patients and their families feel valued, respected, and cared for.

• Working with nurses, other carers, companions, therapists, and team members to support great team spirit. Sharing relevant information and observations to support patient care planning, decision-making and record-keeping. 

How much time should I give?

Ideally, an average of one shift a month, but scheduling can be flexible, based on your availability and hospice needs. Some volunteers commit to regular shifts while others have a more variable pattern of availability.

What do I need to have? 

• A compassionate and empathic nature, with a genuine desire to support and care for others.

What training and support will I be given?

Our Volunteer Carers receive comprehensive induction and training. This includes shadowing, one-to-one support, team sharing and development opportunities plus additional learning as needed. Volunteer Carers are supported by the Healthcare Support Workers’ Lead and the Lead Nurse to ensure they feel confident and capable in their role.

About the Role:

CARAS is looking for volunteer Football Assistants to support our Football sessions on Mondays, 5.30-7pm in Balham.

Football coaching sessions are led by Fulham FC Kicks programme weekly, supported by CARAS volunteers to offer welcome to young people.

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities

· Welcoming young people to the session;

· Helping young people to register for sessions;

We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year.  We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Cafe Worker to assist with the day to day running of our community cafe! This volunteer role will include supporting the team to serve hot and cold drinks drinks and food from the kitchen, as well as some cleaning duties and handling card payments. The café serves as a safe space for individuals with mental health challenges. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Help create a friendly and inclusive community space in the café by greeting customers with a friendly attitude
• Operate the till with card transactions (training will be provided).
• Maintain excellent hygiene and health & safety standards, including clearing and wiping tables, washing up, and ensuring the kitchen and seating areas are clean and tidy.

No experience required. Food hygiene training is required. Full training will be provided. This volunteer opportunity would suit someone with a strong positive attitude who has effective communication skills. We also require the individual to be reliable and punctual with the ability to be a team player. Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.

We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills. 

Prison volunteers live near to their local prison so that they can visit about once a month during the working week to nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by offering advice, guidance, training and support to prison staff and prisoner mentors who help other prisoners to improve their skills 1 to 1.

We are looking for volunteers who are able to work alone, able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years and able to deliver engaging training to groups of people in prisons.  Due to the nature of the role, prison security vetting will be required.

We provide training for the role via e-learning and 4 training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.

We are looking for volunteers who can join our Me Time groups on weekdays for a few hours to support with our activities.

Our Me Time service provides local people with a learning disability the chance to learn through activities - indoor and in the community - have fun, and make new friends during the week.

The role would involve supporting us with our activities during the day. We have lots of different activities, these could include:

• Gardening
• Arts and crafts
• Bowling
• Cooking
• Physical activity
• Technology skills sessions
• Poetry
• And lots more!

You don’t have to have experience in any or all of the sessions we run, just willing to keep an open mind and a friendly attitude.

Do you have an animal welfare background? Volunteer and pass on your expertise, help promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty. You will be able to influence how we do things and with your support, we will achieve so much more!

We are specifically looking for individuals with a specialism in animal welfare, for example, those with experience in, animal rescue, animal care, the veterinary industry, veterinary nursing, or as an animal behaviourist.

Using this expertise as well as other skills, as a Branch Trustee, you will influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee – Animal Welfare Lead

• Act as branch specialist to compliance animal welfare across the branch.
• Act as lead of animal welfare for the branch dealing with enquiries mail/phone.
• Creation and maintenance of any branch specific animal welfare standards.
• Ensure branch trustees are kept informed of any events of note, including requests for extraordinary expenditure or decisions as and when they happen.
• Lead and organise animal welfare branch sub-committee.
• Provide written animal welfare report for every branch meeting.
• Maintain control of all veterinary and other animal services provided to the branch.
• Maintain control of animal welfare vouchering schemes.

Ranger Cadets is seeking dedicated volunteers to guide, train, and empower young people across England.

We are recruiting Adult Instructors, Lead Instructors, Trainers, and Assistant Cadet Unit Managers to support cadet units and areas local to where you live with energy, vision, and pride.

About Ranger Cadets:

Ranger Cadets is a new uniformed youth work organisation with a mission to equip young people with essential life skills, tools, and opportunities to become active citizens who make a positive contribution to society. Through training, service, and ceremonial identity, cadets grow in confidence, resilience, and pride—building a legacy of community impact.

• Plan and deliver: Create positive, interactive, and engaging youth work activities.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
