The Head of Compliance and Building Safety will lead the strategic management and operational delivery of Look Ahead's compliance functions, encompassing Building Safety, Fire Safety, Gas Safety, Water Hygiene, Lift Safety, Electrical Safety, and Asbestos Management.

What you'll do:
* Lead, develop and coach the Compliance and Building Safety team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.
* Oversee statutory compliance across building safety, fire, gas, water hygiene, lifts, electrical systems, and asbestos.
* Manage service contracts and remedial works, ensuring value for money, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to residents.
* Act as the lead reporting officer to external bodies including the Regulator of Social Housing and MHCLG.
* Develop and implement policies and inspection programmes aligned with the Building Safety Act and other legislation.
* Monitor contractor performance, resolve disputes, and ensure health and safety standards are met across all sites, working in collaboration to manage the quality of all fire remedial works completed by external contractors.
* Manage budgets, procurement, and contract delivery, ensuring financial accountability risk management, and service excellence so programmes are delivered on time and within budget.
* Promote safeguarding, equality, and data protection across all compliance activities.

Essential:
* Extensive knowledge and expertise of Health and Safety Regulations and including in gas servicing, asbestos management, mechanical and electrical compliance requirements, and other relevant regulations and standards within housing portfolios and fire safety for compliance.
* In-depth understanding of the Building Safety Act and the Fire Safety Act and aware of all current regulations and legislation regards fire safety

Desirable:
* Recognised qualification building construction, Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH). A property/building related specialism MCIOB, MRICS, BIFM, MIFSM or Health & Safety. Building Related Degree is desirable.

About the role

Medact is hiring for the new role of Fundraising Manager: Trusts & Grants to secure grant funds for the organisation over a critical one-year period. The new Fundraising Manager will be responsible for completing applications already in the pipeline, and then setting out a plan to apply for as many successful grants as possible in the period and delivering it.

The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team and our programme staff, to identify, develop and write grant proposals to relevant funders, for both restricted and unrestricted income streams. 

About you

This is a skilled role but you don’t need to have had a job in an NGO before or be a professional campaigner to be right for it. You might have successfully fundraised for a local community organisation or a grassroots campaign on a social justice or health issue that you care about. 

You’ll have strong skills in developing and writing applications, with a strong understanding of the funding landscape and potential relevant grantmakers. You need to be a great communicator, able to translate the work of an organisation into language tailored for different funding bodies. You’ll also be a strong team player, able to work with relevant staff members to develop winning applications that fit properly within our existing strategy and areas of work.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Support the Finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial processing and reporting. Where allocated, this role focuses on income and expenditure transactions, financial controls, reconciliations, and customer and supplier support, while providing cross-functional support across the Finance department to ensure continuity and compliance.

Some, or all of, the tasks below will be allocated to this role, assisted by the Senior Finance Assistants and supervised by the Financial Controller.

Daily monitoring of income and payments inboxes and related correspondences, support the end-to-end process, record and amend income and payments information in financial and other databases, and provide support on related banking queries.

Work alongside income teams in invoicing, receipting payments, issuing statements, allocating income, approving refunds and onwards union fee disbursements. Support query resolution, and monitor unallocated cash and union fees.

Process and record supplier BACS and other payments efficiently and accurately, and in accordance with accounting procedures. Record payment transactions in the finance database, including cash allocation and currency conversions. Support internal teams and meetings in relation to delegate prepaid cards, including processing transactions, issuing new cards and stopping or cancelling cards as required. Support the prepaid card platform, ensuring all records are kept up-to-date and centrally located to assist colleagues.

Assist in processing expense claims in line with policy. Process transactions for employee cash claims and corporate credit card purchases, issue new cards and stop or cancel cards as required.

Support month and year-end close processes, reporting, reconciliations and audit.

Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and controls, and support the design and implementation of new systems, policies, and processes within the Finance team responsibilities

ABOUT YOU 

We are looking for a highly numerate and organised individual with a strong ethical approach. The ideal candidate will have:

Essential criteria:

• Experience: Processing invoices, payments, other transactions and financial information.
• IT proficiency: Advanced Excel and intermediate Word skills. Must have practical experience with complex finance databases (e.g., Sage, Oracle, SAP), reporting tools, and expense claim systems.
• Personal attributes: High levels attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency, and the organisational skills to meet tight deadlines. Willingness and ability to learn new responsibilities and adapt to evolving processes. Must be fluent in English.

About the role

As the Specialist Social Worker, you will lead the “Serving Women, Never Battle Alone” initiative. This pioneering project provides personalised, confidential advice, practical and emotional support, and advocacy for serving women in the military who are experiencing bullying, harassment, or sexual abuse. The service is available across the UK and open to women in both the Regular and Reservist Armed Forces.

The project is a brand-new service and will be a UK wide first for the Armed Forces. You will have the ability to shape a service that offers a specific service to females in the military, using data and ongoing casework to enhance support structures and ensure that women are truly ‘Safe to Serve’.

The role will involve travel to deliver in-person support to individuals accessing the service, which may include emotional and physical assistance in engaging with relevant authorities, in line with their wishes.

As the Specialist Social Worker, you will be responsible for delivering support and guidance through a Single Point of Contact (SPOC), responding to serving women who reach out to the service, and raising awareness and understanding of the initiative both within SSAFA and among external stakeholders.

About the team

The role sits within the Social Care Directorate, under the broader Safeguarding Team, and reports directly to the Principal Safeguarding Officer (PSO). While you will be the sole practitioner delivering the project, you will have ongoing support from the PSO. Additionally, the Specialist Social Worker will sit on SSAFA’s Safeguarding Board who meet quarterly.

The role involves collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), individual service branches, wider SSAFA teams, and other charitable organisations.

About you

We are seeking a qualified and experienced social worker to take on this important role within SSAFA. Ideally, you will have a background in supporting individuals affected by trauma, experience within military environments or safeguarding teams, and a solid understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practice in these areas.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are essential, along with a positive, adaptable, and creative approach to problem-solving.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Neonatal Support Worker as part of the Kentown Children’s Palliative Care Programme, funded by Kentown Support as part of a developing programme delivering high quality wrap-around care and support to families with a baby receiving treatment on the Neonatal Intensive Care units within the Greater Manchester region, working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team supporting the families.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager of the Greater Manchester Care Team and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.

Having worked in a demanding and emotional environment you have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand processes of grief, loss and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact.

The Torbay Health and Wellbeing Voluntary Sector Network in Torbay is recruiting a full-time Manager to oversee the Torbay Community Helpline.

This post will be based in the local voluntary sector infrastructure organisation - Torbay Communities, hosts of the Community Helpline.  

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead this nationally recognised and acclaimed innovation. Torbay’s Community Helpline was established during the Covid pandemic and has since been developed by the local community into a central access point to the voluntary and community sector as a whole. Since 2021, it has also been the front door for new Adult Social Care referrals in the area through a unique partnership with the local statutory sector. Providing the best possible support to local residents the Helpline’s strapline ‘One Call – That’s All’ sums up the holistic approach. Individuals and families can access a wide range of support from food parcels to mental health support, help with isolation to debt advice etc. The Helpline links into over 100 voluntary sector organisations locally and into grassroots networks of residents offering support to each other. The Helpline has a strengths-based approach to its operations, with callers often helping others after they have received some support.

We are looking for someone who can lead this initiative into the next phase. Someone with the relevant experience who can identify the Helpline’s potential and - working with staff, volunteers, voluntary sector and statutory sector partners - deliver excellent support to our residents and develop the Helpline to meet future needs.

Overall purpose

 As the Finance Officer, you will be required to ensure that our income and expenditure records are accurate, complete, free from error and comply with both the relevant accounting standards as well as donor restrictions. This role will play a key part in ensuring that the recording of financial information is compliant and auditable, in both the finance system and CRM.

You will also work alongside the Head of Finance to support the wider organisation in its financial understanding and management. This support will focus on both the fundraising team to empower them to raise as many funds as possible, especially unrestricted funds, and the services team to ensure their financial processes are robust and efficient. You will also be expected to contribute to and uphold our outstanding culture by living and demonstrating our values of being mission-led, welcoming, entrepreneurial and collaborative.

Key responsibilities

Finance responsibilities

• Record all income and expenditure general ledger transactions in the finance system, ensuring correct coding and full supporting documentation is stored in either the finance system or in the CRM.
• Have ownership of both the sales ledger and purchase ledger, ensuring all entries are recorded accurately with the correct VAT treatment while adhering to the relevant controls.
• Ensure all staff and client expenses are captured and recorded accurately, adhere to the relevant expense policy and are paid in a timely manner.
• Prepare and post payment runs alongside the Head of Finance
• Support the Financial Accountant in the monthly bank reconciliation
• Participate in month end processes to ensure the I&E figure is accurate within the pre-determined deadline, including posting prepayments, deferrals and accruals where relevant and other accounting adjustments as needed such as grossing up of platform fees.
• Ensure all finance documentation is complete and auditable including restricted fund evidence, and ensure the relevant GAUs are tracked on salesforce.
• Capture all restricted fund income and expenditure is the finance system on a monthly basis (staff and non-staff) alongside the Financial Accountant and Head of Finance
• Understand clawback risk on grants
• Ensure Breaking Barriers is claiming gift aid where applicable and optimising opportunities to reclaim input VAT in our business/non-business VAT return
• Reconciling to third party platforms on a monthly basis including fundraising platforms and Equals
• Work with the Head of Finance to upskill the fundraising and service teams to ensure they understand necessary financial processes
• Undertake income and expenditure control activities e.g. checking for grant rejection letters and verifying changes to supplier details.
• Be the finance team’s superuser for the CRM
• Support in year-end audit and the creation of relevant notes
• Support with ad hoc projects such as the implementation of a new finance system and policy and procedure updates

Technology

• Support the Financial Accountant, Finance Director and outsourced technology provider as needed for ongoing technology support and occasional projects.

Office and facilities management

• Support the financial team and any applicable offices as needed for ongoing office and facility management

Cross-cutting

• Ensure staff are effectively onboarded and our knowledge management processes ensure that required information on the finance and ops processes is accessible and understood
