Main Responsibilities of this vacancy:

Multi-Agency Management:

• Develop and manage a multi-agency space to provide interventions and solutions to the community's recognized needs.

Local Organizing:

• Develop and manage a team of volunteers, who will build relationships and trust with the community.

• Explore and understand the experiences bringing people to need our support through listening activities and/or research.

• Assist the Operational Manager in mapping out and building relationships with the charities partners, referral agencies, and local anti-poverty organizations.

• Identify local issues driving poverty and engage with the campaign team to develop strategies for change.

Maintenance and Security:

• Regularly inspect and maintain the building, grounds, and equipment.

• Oversee security, including opening and closing the building and monitoring security systems.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and implement safety measures.

Cleaning and Repairs:

• Ensure the premises are kept clean and tidy, either directly or by supervising cleaning staff.

• Organize and oversee repairs and maintenance work, liaise with contractors, and manage maintenance budgets.

• Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking.

Event Support:

• Provide logistical support for events, meetings, and other activities.

BookTrust, the charity that champions the power of reading, is seeking a Head of Fundraising in a new senior role to oversee the strategic development and management of their voluntary income, to help them deliver their goals to shape a national reading culture.

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, reaching over 1.3 million children and families across England, Wales and Northern Ireland each year and delivering evidence-informed programmes that make a measurable difference to children’s reading behaviours. Their work is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to enjoy reading and all the lifelong benefits it brings. The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for stewarding an existing portfolio of major statutory and voluntary funders, and managing BookTrust’s high value and individual giving portfolio. This includes trusts and foundations, statutory funders and corporate partners from the publishing sector and beyond, from Waterstones to Build-A-Bear. The post-holder will build on significant fundraising growth over the last three years, and will work to further grow and diversify fundraising income to meet the goals of the charity’s recently launched 2025-2030 strategic plan.

The successful candidate will be engaging, experienced and have a proven record across high value fundraising (with a preference for major donor/philanthropy, trusts and corporate partnerships), as well as having a good knowledge of Individual Giving.

They will have experience of operating at a senior leader level with a charity, with responsibility for liaising with, and reporting to, the SLT and the Board, and will be able to show demonstrable success in achieving personal and team income targets.  Commercially and politically astute, candidates will also be emotionally intelligent and natural collaborators, willing to work with others on bringing income generation ideas to life in an organisation with a diverse funding model including mixed models of trading and philanthropy.

About Sculpt UK

Sculpt is a UK-based charity with over 20 years’ experience, who support young people to shape their own future. Our vision is that we live in a society where young people can be fulfilled through their education, work and participation in wider society. The need for our work is clear given the increasing problems young people face and their lack of confidence and awareness regarding their journey into the world of work.

We run a range of bespoke programmes that work directly with young people in conjunction with partners - schools, careers hubs, employers, local government and further/higher education. We build the skills and experience of young people focusing on the transitions between school, education and work. What are we looking for?

Sculpt UK is hiring a bookings coordinator and youth programme officer who would deliver our direct intervention work with young people aged 12-16 with a focus on skills building around employment through our holistic work experience programmes. Approximately 75% of our under 16s work involves working with young people who have SEND or who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training). Training on working specifically with SEND students will be offered to the successful applicant.

The role will also manage our bookings with schools and individuals across projects. This job is a 70/30 split between Youth Programme Officer and Bookings Coordinator.

Responsibilities :

Youth Programme Officer:

• Adhere to Sculpt UK’s safeguarding practices and procedures at all time 

• Deliver funded programmes focused on youth employability, leadership and youth voice in line with Sculpt UK’s delivery style and ethos

• Work with other Youth Programme Officers to successfully to deliver projects and support in data collection required for reporting

• Use their experience and knowledge of the issues affecting young people to tailor the workshops accordingly to age, need and interest

• Facilitate workshops on topics such as communication, gender stereotypes, social media, finance & skills, teamwork

• Run mock interviews with programme participants

• Contribute to the development of a Theory of Change for each project 

• Ensure young people complete relevant entry and exit surveys 

• Undertake relevant training associated with Sculpt UK’s work included but not restricted to child protection & safeguarding

• Contribute toward and keep up to date with Sculpt UK’s internal / external communications platform such as slack, newsletters and social media 

• Engage with Sculpt UK’s Youth Advisory Board members when invited to do so.

Bookings Coordinator: 

• Have a strong understanding of the USP of each programme offered by Sculpt 

• Manage booking system and calendar

• Take calls with schools and individuals about booking onto programmes 

• Manage bookings from outreach to completion of the programme 

• Book work experience days at partner organisations, including doing the associated administration

• Develop mini reports on each programme to feedback impact to schools and individuals 

• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of projects 

• Ensure that the Sculpt website has up-to-date programme information, application deadlines etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Exceptional Organisation

This ranges from making the case to increase investment in dementia research, promoting the concept of good Brain Health to reduce the risk of developing dementia through to preparing health systems to be ready for future dementia treatments.

Policy and Public Affairs team encourages creativity and new ways of doing things. The post holder will have opportunities to take initiative and work on projects that take the charity in new directions. The postholder will report to the Head of Policy (Access and Innovation), working across the wider Policy and Public Affairs team. The team takes a matrix approach to our work, using the skills and expertise across the team to maximise impact of a project. Key Responsibilities:

 

Portfolio

As an agile organisation the portfolio of the team is constantly evolving. Currently focus areas for the role will be :

· Increase government investment in dementia research, working with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s research team to articulate priorities for spending and ensure we have robust policy proposals which government can implement. There will be a particular focus on clinical trial infrastructure and recruiting a more diverse range of participants in research

· Clinical engagement, by managing and growing our clinical engagement activities and the planning of our annual clinical conference.

· Strengthening the team’s patient and public involvement and engagement work. This will involve champion PPI across the wider team, managing our current public and patient forums and leading a programme of work to ensure our engagement is innovative and sector leading. 

· Leading work to ensure our Stats Hub is accurate, timely and best supports our policy and data analysis work.

Policy development

· To develop and manage programmes of work on key strategic policy areas that position ARUK as a key influencer both nationally and internationally.  This may include the commissioning of external evidence generation.

· Provide expertise on the relevant evidence, insight and policy context to enable the development of new innovative policy ideas and solutions that deliver on our strategic priorities.

· Manage the development of substantial and credible policy outputs, including briefings, reports, submissions to government departments and their agencies, parliamentary committees, and other UK and international organisations as appropriate.

· Working with the communications team to ensure our policy work is disseminated to our key audiences via a range of appropriate channels in order to maximise our reach and impact.

· Develop and maintain mechanisms to keep abreast of the policy environment relevant to the portfolio of the post.

· Analyse, interpret and make judgements on complex project activities, delegating and managing the policy advisors to achieve set deliverables through their management of day-to-day activities. The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Programme Manager to support, deliver and manage our outdoor based development programmes.

Responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the key point of contact to organise, deliver and oversee the programme to a group of young people, including managing and supporting residential adventure camps and activity days throughout the year.

• Recruiting young people to the programme, working in collaboration with our referral partners including schools and other organisations, ensuring all involved have an excellent understanding, relationship and experience with the Youth Adventure Trust.

• Working in partnership with the young people’s families to promote full attendance, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require. 

• Carrying out direct work with young people to help support their needs and fulfil the Youth Adventure Trust’s aims.

• Providing ongoing feedback to young people, parents, carers and schools.

• Supporting the effective monitoring of the programme and measurement of young people’s developmental outcomes.

• Working with the Mentoring Managers to select and support young people moving on to the Mentoring Programme, and promote take up of the Bursary Programme. 

• Ensuring the highest standards of support, safety and safeguarding across the programme and all aspects of the Youth Adventure Trust’s work.

• Taking the lead with day-to-day administration and management of the programme. This will include maintaining a database, producing written communications and reports, information leaflets, website updates, budget monitoring, booking and negotiating with providers, and an array of detailed record keeping.

• Contributing to organisational planning and development, including supporting the development of further opportunities for young people. 

• Supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports or event support.

You will also;

• Be involved in sector networking and awareness raising on behalf of the Trust.

• Act as an ambassador for the Youth Adventure Trust at all times.

The post is subject to a six months’ probationary period.

The Candidate

To be up to the challenge you’ll need an excellent understanding and a proven track record of relevant experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people. You’ll need demonstrable skills at building effective relationships with young people, parents/carers and professional organisations. You’ll need strong influencing and motivational skills; the capacity to get the best out of people and confidently deal with issues and challenges. You’ll be an excellent communicator, planner and problem solver, a strong team player and an exemplary role model. 

We need someone with:- 

• Commitment to safeguarding and dedication to promoting the welfare of young people.

• Relevant experience of managing young people, preferably in a residential environment as well as outside of this.

• Experience in working in partnership with other professional organisations and parents/carers.

• Strong leadership and team skills to motivate, support and work alongside a team of volunteers, activity instructors and logistics staff. 

• Self-motivation with the ability to work on their own initiative to plan and manage their workload.

• Strong IT skills including experience of MS Office, web based platforms and databases.

• Excellent administrative skills and a methodical and thorough approach.

• Collaborate with Programmes and Partnerships teams to ensure that our mentoring supply and demand is balanced, identifying opportunities for development and working with teams to plan this.

• Produce robust and detailed reporting for participating partner employers on an ongoing basis, increasing the chances of renewals.

• Embed the professional mentoring programme within the wider volunteering framework, ensuring it complements Alumni and open access volunteering opportunities while maintaining the value of partner-funded packages.

2) ALUMNI PROGRAMME

• Provide strategic oversight and direction for the Alumni Programme, ensuring it aligns with upReach’s volunteering strategy and organisational goals.

• Ensure Alumni are engaged through a range of activities, including professional development opportunities, the Alumni Ambassador Board, and tailored communications.

• Oversee the creation and implementation of Alumni volunteering opportunities, ensuring these are impactful and complement wider partner-funded activity.

• Collaborate with Programmes, Fundraising, and MarComms teams to ensure Alumni engagement supports Associate development, fundraising, and long-term organisational sustainability.

• Monitor Alumni engagement data and outcomes, ensuring robust reporting to funders, stakeholders, and the Leadership Team.

3) VOLUNTEERING

• Implement our refreshed volunteering strategy, working in collaboration with the Partnerships, Fundraising and Programmes teams to ensure this meets the needs of the charity.

• Act as the first point of contact for all volunteer enquiries.

• Oversee the volunteer journey from attraction to offboarding, including clear onboarding, safeguarding processes, engagement activities, and recognition (e.g. events, certificates, digital acknowledgements).

• Conduct ongoing evaluation of volunteering activities and implement improvements as necessary.

• Collaborate with other teams across the organisation to identify opportunities for volunteers, and support with implementing this.

• Manage relationships with volunteers and organisations, ensuring positive experiences for all those involved with upReach in this capacity.

• Pilot and evaluate new open access volunteering initiatives, tracking impact through defined KPIs and reporting mechanisms.

• Work with Fundraising and MarComms teams to develop strategies for recognition, retention, and long-term ambassador engagement of volunteers.

4) LINE MANAGEMENT

• Manage relevant individuals within the Mentoring and Alumni team, providing ongoing personal and professional development support through weekly 1-to-1 calls or meetings, written feedback on documents, and day-to-day guidance via Slack. 

• Use relevant impact dashboards and data to set priorities for your team and to identify areas where support from the Programmes team is needed, to ensure that all internal KPIs are achieved.

• Managing the performance of your team - including setting SMART professional development goals and utilising a range of resources and tools where necessary to help your team perform successfully in their roles. Be part of the upReach Leadership Team and contribute to forming the strategy and direction of the charity. 

• Provide leadership in embedding volunteering as a strategic pillar of upReach’s mission, ensuring sustainability, scalability, and alignment with organisational growth.

The ideal candidate for Volunteering Programme Manager should display these skills:

• Planning and organising - Able to demonstrate a high level of organisational skills, ensuring that initiatives are designed to meet organisational KPIs, objectives and priorities, are accurately planned, and meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. 

• Problem solving and decision-making - Confidently uses a range of problem solving techniques to resolve issues on behalf of the team or organisation, showing creativity and analytical thinking in their approach, and doing so following clearly defined processes but without supervision. 

• Innovative - Leads on new areas of innovation and, if necessary, enables and supports the team to make changes needed.

• Communication - Inspires team and others to engage fully with long term vision, purpose and strategy of upReach, with the ability to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels to generate a commitment to these goals.

To be successful, it is anticipated that you would have experience in:

• Coordinating/managing volunteer initiatives

• Project/programme management

• Communicating with a variety of stakeholders, through written and verbal communication
