About the role
This role will help Ageing Better deliver its ambition for more people to live in Age-friendly Homes and Communities—enabling people to live well, age well, and remain independent for as long as possible.
Reporting to the Head of Homes, as Research and Policy Manager (Homes and Communities), you will design and deliver research and policy projects from end to end by setting priorities, applying robust methodologies, managing partnerships and ensuring outputs are accessible, impactful and evidence-based. Working closely with colleagues across the Homes and Communities Team to ensure projects help to influence national and local policy and support our wider goals.
As one of two research and policy managers, you will be taking a lead delivery role on our research projects and be responsible for designing and conducting original research using both quantitative and qualitative methods, generating new insights that inform our policy positions and contribute to meaningful change.
You will also model our commitment to tackling inequalities and ensuring that the voice of a diverse mix of people in later life is visible and influential within all our activities.
About you
We are looking for someone with strong experience in delivering research projects, including defining research questions, selecting appropriate methodologies and producing clear, high-quality outputs while managing budgets and risks. You will be confident using qualitative and quantitative research methods, including evaluation approaches and have experience turning detailed findings into practical and actionable insights. Experience in basic data analysis is essential.
You will be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders effectively and bring strong project management skills. You will also be a clear and effective communicator. This includes being able to produce engaging outputs such as reports, blogs and case studies, alongside being confident designing and facilitating workshops. We are looking for someone who builds positive working relationships, works collaboratively and can contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Experience of the housing and communities’ sector is desirable, as is an interest in issues affecting ageing and older people.

Purpose of the job
As Major Donor Manager, you will support the delivery of UK Youth's major donor programme, cultivating high-value, long-term relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) individuals in support of UK Youth's mission and vision. You will build and manage a pipeline of major donors and prospects, working towards income targets that grow year on year, and play a critical role in securing unrestricted funding, programme funding and transformational capital investment.
This role requires a strategic, relationship-led approach and a deep understanding of major gift fundraising. We are looking for a senior funding leader who is comfortable operating as a “department of one” within a small but ambitious organisation. Trusts and Foundations prospecting and bid writing will form a core part of the role, working closely with the CEO and senior team. The Senior Global Fundraising Manager will report to the Global Lead for Communications and Fundraising (Executive Director), currently based in WaterAid UK. This role will play a strategic part in driving income growth across the WaterAid federation by proactively collaborating and learning, and seeking opportunities to strengthen our collective action, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Critically they will play a lead role in developing a long-term global income plan, ensuring that we make the best collective decisions for organisational growth and impact, and ensuring that risk is managed globally. This role works with colleagues across the organisation - but also in partnership with external organisations and agencies, with targets set for engagement (and other indicators of the success of our campaigns). We're working on multiple campaigns simultaneously; whether that's Carers Week, campaigns to influence changes to the law to better support carers, encouraging unpaid carers to join us as members, updating on activities in the devolved nations or getting people to fundraise for Carers UK. And we use a mix of owned, earned and paid communications to drive engagement in a challenging and crowded environment in order to get our messages to cut through. It's a busy, but varied role, in a supportive and collaborative team.
About you
Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.
You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.
You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

About the Role
