The Role

What will I be doing?

• Create a powerful alliance of Corporate Partners to influence science strategies and investment in areas such as advanced sensing, photonics, quantum technologies, semiconductors, renewable energy, autonomous systems and medtech
• Secure long-term relationships by delivering impactful services that meet partners’ needs: working with cross-organisation teams to drive take up of IOP membership, professional registrations, thought leadership articles and access to publishing content
• Manage risks and ensure financial sustainability of the Corporate Partners Alliance

Projects you work on may include:

• Deliver annual series of leadership visits to Corporate Partners organisations to explore interests and common priorities around skills, R&D, infrastructure and business support
• Manage and deliver science insights and advocacy activities with Corporate Partners, via high-level meetings with senior stakeholders in government, industry, finance and academia
• Facilitate ideation workshops, prepare briefings and produce reports to develop new insights and seed new activities to support IOP and partner priorities

Who will I work with?

• Executive Directors and Chief Technology Officers in large R&D intensive businesses
• IOP leadership and cross-organisational teams including our publishing company
• Closely with IOP Associate Director for Science, Business and Data Insights

You are likely to have the following experience

• Credibility in building corporate partnerships with c-suite and senior leaders in R&D intensive, large businesses
• Knowledge of working at the interface of government policy, business and academia regarding science, technology and innovation
• Experience of implementing projects that involve managing senior stakeholders and decision makers in business and securing income targets

The Role

Neighbourhood Network Schemes (NNS) are responsible for building community capacity and developing a clear view of the existing community infrastructure and then building connections between assets, statutory organisations and local people. Edgbaston is one of 10 designated Localities in Birmingham. The purpose of NNS is to ensure that citizens over 50 and adults with additional needs can access community support, improving their wellbeing and quality of life. For over five decades, the Renewal Programme has been a trusted cornerstone of the community in the London Borough of Newham, tackling the root causes and consequences of poverty, isolation, and disadvantage.

Role overview

The Transformation Hub Manager will play a pivotal role in reshaping our service offerings by creating a vibrant, inclusive, and strengths-based hub for our communities - many of who are underserved, including asylum seekers, refugees, residents facing isolation, and those affected by homelessness. You will lead on the delivery and successful management of our National Lottery funded RenewALL Hub, transforming our ideas from concept into a sustainable, impactful centre for community wellbeing. Central to this role is continuing to drive the shift from a crisis-led service model to a holistic, strengths-based approach, ensuring the RenewALL hub empowers Newham residents to connect, grow, and thrive. A major part of this transformation will be designing and delivering a wide range of new activities and services. Crucially, the Hub will not just deliver activities for residents but will be co-designed and co-produced with them, embedding lived experience and the voice of the community at its core. Success will depend on your ability to build and lead a coherent, motivated team of staff and volunteers, uniting them behind the shared vision of the Hub. You will work to create a welcoming space that reflects the ambitions of our Open House strategy, where dignity, inclusion, collaboration and empowerment are lived out in every interaction.

Leadership & Hub Development

• Lead a team to ensure the successful implementation of the RenewALL Hub project, as submitted to the National Lottery Community Fund, aligning all activities with our “Open House” strategy and theory of change.

• Direct the strategic transition from over-reliance on a traditional Food Bank to an empowering Food Club model, reinforcing pathways from crisis to independence.

Operational Leadership

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the Hub space, ensuring it is safe, welcoming, and open 7 days a week.
• Coordinate and support staff, volunteers, and sessional workers across the Hub, embedding strong safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.

Promotion & Outreach

• Work with the marketing team to promote the Hub’s activities widely, ensuring strong engagement from under-represented and vulnerable groups.
• Conduct outreach to engage under represented residents, ensuring activities are culturally inclusive and accessible.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Compliance

• Lead on the monitoring and evaluation requirements of our Lottery bid.

Person Specification

• Passionate about community empowerment, inclusion, and tackling inequalities

What We’re Looking For 

IDVA qualification OR significant domestic abuse advocacy experience. 
Understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control, and trauma-informed practice. 
Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those with learning disabilities and autism.

Ability to adapt communication styles to support neurodivergent clients.

Job Purpose

Volunteering Matters have been working in collaboration with South of Enterprise Scotland (SOSE) to pilot Enterprising Futures in Dumfries and Galloway and due to the success of the work we are expanding this work into The Scottish Borders. With the support of SOSE, we are launching a new project, Enterprising Futures Scottish Borders, where we will use our tried and tested model to enable people to work to remove those barriers, build confidence and introduce the idea of starting their own business.

Our aim is to ensure a better future for all and that the region thrives with economic productivity. From our learnings from Dumfries and Galloway, we are launching a pilot which creates a pipeline for additional and flexible support, empowering women and those from under-represented groups, by introducing the idea of starting their own business.

Our part time Engagement Manager will create a warm referral pathway wherein they attend training events and sessions with Pathways Coaches alongside potential clients, ensuring a smooth and trusting transition to SOSE’s support, stepping back when trust is built. We will support people in the Scottish Borders who experience barriers to education, training, and employment.

As our Engagement Manager, you will directly support people aged 16+ who may have complex and challenging barriers to securing a positive pathway.  This will include barrier identification and removal and where appropriate provide pre volunteering activity as well as volunteering placements in their local area. 

You will engage with local people from under-represented groups in The Borders to realise their dreams and take active steps toward self-employment. Volunteering Matters’ individualised support adapts to the needs of each client whether this is additional funding, support to attend meetings, confidence building, or skills development in a supported volunteering placement. The person-centred, place-based approach to individual support is central to this partnership and leads to meaningful and sustainable impact for all.

Where appropriate you will create bespoke and tailored volunteering opportunities with third sector partners to enable people to build their skills and confidence to take that first step into exploring employment

• To engage directly with people to understand their wants, needs and aspirations and determine the best opportunity for each person, and provide the support they need.

• To develop and maintain good relationships with partners and SOSE colleagues.

• To identify, create and develop relationships with new charity partners or agencies to provide bespoke and tailored volunteering opportunities.  These opportunities will support the individuals supported to gain experience, confidence and support them on route to a positive destination.

• To support with funding applications and opportunities

• To manage the risk assessment, quality assurance and audit processes as appropriate.

• Ensure monitoring, impact and evaluation information and data is collected and that the project meets it’s agreed targets, reporting format and schedule.  Assist the Delivery Leader by preparing reports to funders.

About Child’s i Foundation

Child’s i Foundation is a small but mighty social impact organisation that started in Uganda and now has a growing global footprint. We work with communities, caregivers, and individuals with lived experience to co-create and scale sustainable alternatives to institutional care. We address the root causes of family separation and demonstrate that every child belongs in a safe and loving family, not in an orphanage.

Purpose of the Role

The Business Development Lead will play a critical role in driving the financial sustainability of Child’s i Foundation. This person will lead efforts to secure new income, grow existing partnerships, and strengthen supporter engagement. This role combines strategy and execution and is ideal for someone with a passion for social justice, a flair for building relationships, and experience in both fundraising and donor communications. The role will report into our Chief Executive Officer. 

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Income Generation

• Develop and execute the fundraising and income generation strategy across diverse streams including:
  • ​Trusts and Foundations
  • Corporate Partnerships
  • Major Donors
  • Regular Giving
  • Campaigns and Events (UK & Uganda)
  • Track investment in partnership with Finance Manager
• Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities aligned with Child's i mission, values and strategic objectives. 
• Lead proposal writing, donor reporting and relationship management for high-value funders and partners.
• Work closely with the CEO and Board to unlock networks and steward strategic relationships

​Supporter Engagement & Communications

• Oversee supporter care and stewardship, ensuring timely acknowledgements and meaningful engagement.
• Manage and work with the comms team to develop content for digital fundraising platforms (website, social media, and email).
• Guide the comms team to develop compelling supporter journeys and storytelling that reflect the voices of communities we work with.
• Oversee the development of newsletters and donor communications that build long-term loyalty.

Operational Fundraising Management

• Oversee donation processing, database management, and tracking of fundraising KPIs.
• Coordinate with UK and Uganda teams to align messaging, campaigns, and compliance.
• Provide strategic oversight of volunteer-led and community fundraising initiatives.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Line manage junior fundraising support if applicable.
• Work collaboratively with programme, comms, finance, and impact teams to ensure donor requirements are met and learning is shared.
• Contribute to organisational learning on ethical fundraising, locally-led development, and shifting power to communities.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in business development and fundraising (minimum 3 years), ideally in the social impact or NGO sector. 
• Track record of securing income from trusts, foundations, or major donors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Strong relationship-building skills, from individual supporters to institutional donors.
• Organised, proactive, and adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities in a small, fast-moving team.
• Commitment to Child’s i’s values and vision, and to ethical fundraising grounded in dignity and equity.

Desirable

• Experience working in East Africa or with Global South-led organisations.
• Familiarity and confidence with use of CRM systems. We use Beacon. 
• Understanding of child protection, care reform, or community development sectors.
