This is a people-facing, system-focused role. The MEL Systems Officer is responsible for maintaining the quality, organisation, and user uptake of Practical Action's online MEL system. You will develop the protocols that guide how data is entered and maintained, and support internal teams to follow them, ensuring colleagues always have accurate data to draw on for reporting, learning and influencing.
This role requires high degrees of organisational skills, demonstrating a methodical and people-oriented approach. You will act as a bridge between the MEL system and our internal MEL community, ensuring the system is user friendly, contains high-quality data, and that users feel supported in using it.
1. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION & ORGANISATION • Ensure high-quality and well organised MEL data, system structures, indicators, results, and templates and carry out routine data quality checks to ensure consistency. • Work with the Data & Insights team to ensure Power BI reports are optimised, providing useful management information for analysis and decision making. • Maintain clear, accessible user guidance documentation and standard operating procedures. • Coordinate with system providers and IT colleagues to develop system upgrades and fixes, and ensure smooth integration with the Outcome Harvesting system.
2. USER SUPPORT & RELATIONSHIP BUILDING • Act as the primary point of contact for MEL and programme staff on system queries, providing high quality customer support, managing user accounts, permissions and access. • Routinely deliver onboarding and training sessions for new and existing users. • Build strong relationships across our MEL community, proactively identifying challenges and opportunities for system improvements.
3. REPORTING & DASHBOARDS • Produce organisational impact dashboards, MEL reports, and supporting information for both annual and donor reporting, all in clear, accessible formats for a range of stakeholders. • Support MEL colleagues to extract and present data for project reviews, evaluations and learning processes.
4. MEL PROCESS SUPPORT • Incorporate theories of change, results frameworks and indicators into the system as they develop over time, working with MEL colleagues to incorporate latest thinking. • Support knowledge sharing within internal communities of practice by ensuring that reports, evaluations, learning products and evidence are accessible on internal platforms. • Provide technical MEL advice and support to programme teams and II&I colleagues as required.
PERSON PROFILE Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
ESSENTIAL
• Experience administering online data systems, databases or digital platforms, with confidence working with structured data and reporting tools.
• Highly organised and methodical, with a drive to produce high-quality output. • Confident communicator and relationship builder, with a focus on nurturing team coherence. • Demonstrable experience in leading and delivering training and user support.
• Good understanding of MEL concepts, indicators, results frameworks, data collection and theories of change. • Ability to explain system or data processes clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Fluent English, written and spoken. DESIRABLE
• Experience working in an international development or NGO context. • Familiarity with MEL or data collection platforms (e.g. Kobo, or similar).
• Experience producing dashboards or data visualisations (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Excel). Proficiency in one or more additional languages, Spanish, French or Arabic particularly.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an interest in sentencing and the wider criminal justice system. About the Role

Due to an expansion in our work to provide training and e-learning to raise awareness of unpaid carers and of the issues and challenges they face with a range of professionals, we are excited to recruit a Training and Learning Officer to lead our work in this area. The post holder will develop, maintain and deliver a suite of e-learning, and in person and online training.

We are looking to recruit two Funding Officers (one permanent and one FTC until March 2027) to join the London, Southeast and East Team (LSE&E), within the Strategy, Learning Partnerships team (SLP). You’ll be part of a team, led by a Funding Manager and comprised of several other Funding Officers.
The LSE&E team is headed up by a Senior Head of Regional Funding, together with regional leads. There are 5 local patches for the South East and East and 3 local patches for London.
The SLP team purpose is to:
- Enable and lead grant making across geographical boundaries within the LSE&E region & across England
- Ensure intentional and responsive grant making responds to sector needs, is impactful, focused and mission aligned
- Build evidence & drive continuous learning and impact in the mission areas and our equity-based approach
- Provide regional leadership for external engagement, partnerships & funder collaborations & lead and / or support project teams across LSE&E and share best practice
SLP does this through:
- Supporting LSE&E regional strategy, grant making and learning
- Working strategically with England wide colleagues on responsive funding and Partnership – working beyond LSE&E and across the England regions.
- Working with LSE&E colleagues, the Regional Leadership Team and England Wide
- Unlike other LSE&E patch-based Funding Officers, SLP has a uniquely collaborative function, working together with local patches, the region as a whole and across England. Therefore the Funding Officers for SLP must have a strategic, flexible and collaborative approach.
Your role:
- In Responsive Grant making, you will support the pipeline of ideas across two or more LSE&E local patches, assessing by The Fund's priorities and missions and using understanding of regional priorities.
- Using regional priorities and new IMD data, you will be horizon scanning opportunities for intentional external engagement and contribute to the LSE&E Regional Funding Plans.
- You will support strategic funding England Wide and exploring potential partnerships. You may support the region with Funding Mechanisms that will enable flexible grant making.
- You will support SLP to drive continuous learning within the LSE&E region and to implement high quality and relevant learning & events that meet the strategic objectives of the region.

This is a fast-paced role that requires an ability to manage a large workload with & prioritise, with minimal supervision.

Senior Technical Officer (MEAL)

About the role
This is not a traditional MEAL role.
As our Senior Technical Officer (MEAL), you’ll be the technical backbone of our global MEAL function, designing smart data systems, building dashboards, and helping teams use data to make better decisions.
You’ll work across programmes, advocacy, and partnerships to ensure our data is not just collected but trusted, actionable, and driving change.
From building Power BI dashboards to strengthening logframes and automating data flows, your work will directly influence how Lumos delivers impact at scale.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading on the design and improvement of MEAL systems, tools, and databases
- Building dashboards and visualisations (e.g. Power BI) to track global performance
- Supporting programme teams to develop strong logframes, indicators, and results frameworks

We are currently looking for a Volunteer Support Officer with proven administrative and IT skills to join our busy Volunteer Support team based at our National Support Centre.
This role plays a vital part in supporting the smooth and safe onboarding of adult volunteers within Sea Cadets. As a key member of the Volunteer Support Team, you will ensure that all administrative processes are completed. You will act as a first point of contact for volunteer enquiries, maintain high quality records throughout volunteers’ membership, maintaining MSSC’s commitment to safer recruitment and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the processing of adult volunteer applications to join Sea Cadets, ensuring all personnel records are accurately updated on the CRM system.
- Review and approve volunteer references in line with MSSC’s Safer Recruitment Policy.
- Administer the enhanced disclosure process, acting as an MSSC counter-signatory.
- Process grants and claims relating to volunteer uniform allowances.
- Review and submit applications for UKSV Security Clearances and MOD 90 ID Cards.
- Respond to all Volunteer Support enquiries received by MSSC via email, post, and phone.
Requirements
- Experience working in a customer‑focused role, handling a wide range of enquiries by phone and email, including challenging conversations.
- Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using data protection procedures and handling confidential information appropriately.
- Experience organising own workload and managing deadlines effectively.
Desirable
- Experience of database inputting, record maintenance, and data management.
- Experience working with volunteers.
