We are seeking Trustees with skills and experience in marketing or the legal context for asylum and refugee resettlement, to join our Board our friendly and committed board. 

Who are TFSW?

We help refugees and people seeking asylum who have suffered trauma, oppression and war, and those working with them. As the first and originally only agency providing refugee trauma specialist support in the southwest, we provide vital free, long-term 1-1 and group psychotherapy and counselling to people fleeing torture, oppression and war.

About the Role

Our Trustees work collaboratively to meet our legal responsibilities to govern the charity, including:

• Defining TFSW’s long-term direction and furthering its charitable purposes.
• Ensuring it is effectively and properly run with legal and other obligations met and being accountable to those with an interest or ‘stake’ in the charity.

We use board meetings to agree and oversee our strategic priorities, monitor risks, ensure sound financial management and confirm the charity’s assets are being used appropriately. All TFSW Trustees additionally bring individual skills and experience that are much valued. We are currently seeking Trustees with skills and experience of:

• Marketing and Communications. There are no specific additional responsibilities for this Trustee, however, having recently updated our brand, website and guidelines the Board would be enriched by a Trustee who can advise and guide on how we can utilise this refresh in the growth of the charity.
• The legal context for asylum and refugee resettlement. We have benefited from a Trustee with this knowledge who has stepped down at our AGM after many years on the Board. While there are no additional responsibilities, the awareness of the legal context for our work is a great help and we would be enriched by a Trustee who brings this awareness to our Board.

This is a voluntary role, but we can pay Trustees’ expenses. The time commitment for all Trustees is approximately 22 hours per year (under 2 hours per month).

We have a committed and supportive board with a diverse skillset and are currently recruiting in areas we could enhance our overall skillset. We are striving to be more representative of the diversity of the communities we serve and we warmly and actively welcome those with lived experience of the asylum or refugee resettlement process to apply. Could you use your leadership skills and experience to support Signals?

We’re looking for a new volunteer Chair to join the board of Trustees who is interested in helping to develop Signals.

The Chair will lead our board of nine trustees, ensuring that Signals is following correct governance and meeting its charitable duties.

Who we are

Signals is a registered charity and limited liability company based in Colchester established 36 years ago. We specialise in filmmaking and digital arts for social, learning and creative outputs and work across the region but with a focus on Essex. We became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) in 2023.

We work with children, young people, artists and community groups supporting creativity and learning at all levels. We are committed to increasing equal access to digital and creative experiences.  Our vision is to positively impact peoples’ lives by encouraging, diversity, creativity, experimentation, developing skills and raising aspirations through creative digital production and education.  This work is increasingly relevant in supporting those left behind in a digital age.

Current projects include working with local migrant communities, disability groups and communities in Harwich.

Chair role

• With other board members, CEO and staff, provide strategic leadership to the charity, ensuring that Signals achieves its objectives.
• Lead the board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for governance.
• Optimise the relationship between the board and Signals staff and volunteers.
• Plan and chair the board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
• Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Signals.
• Appraise the performance of the CEO.

Location: Oxfordshire Discovery College, Didcot / Oxfordshire-based Primary School

Role Overview

We are seeking a confident and compassionate volunteer to co-facilitate our mental health and wellbeing programmes for young people in school settings. This role involves working with small groups of students to support emotional learning and create safe, engaging spaces to deliver the Discovery Colleges evidence based psychoeducation programmes. You will work alongside one of our core facilitators to deliver sessions and support programme planning. 

Experience in facilitation, teaching, youth work or similar settings is beneficial. We welcome both lived experience and professional expertise in mental health and wellbeing, and value the unique perspective each volunteer brings.

You’ll need to feel comfortable working in schools and be confident engaging with young people in a supportive, structured environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in young lives while being part of a collaborative and values-led team. It’s also a great chance to build your facilitation skills, gain hands-on experience in mental health education, and grow your confidence working with young people.

Key Tasks

As a facilitator, your activities may include, but are not limited to:

• Being reliable — committing to agreed dates and tasks

• Co-facilitate engaging, structured group sessions for young people (age 7 - 11) in school settings, alongside one of our staff facilitators

• Create a safe, inclusive and supportive group environment, encouraging participation, emotional safety, and mutual respect

• Managing the group alone for short periods and engaging in sensitive 1:1 conversations with young people, if staff facilitator is otherwise engaged for brief periods

• Undertake appropriate safeguarding training, be alert to safeguarding concerns, follow ODC’s safeguarding procedures, and report any concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead

• Assist with setting up and packing down sessions, and help manage session resources as needed

• Take part in session debriefs, offering insights and feedback to support ongoing programme improvement

• Participate in relevant training and supervision, including safeguarding, ODC policies, programme orientation, and ongoing reflective practice

• Work alongside ODC staff, upholding our values around co-production, youth voice, and mental health support

Optional Activities

• Support with session planning and preparation, contributing ideas and helping shape delivery in line with programme aims

• Support with programme administration and data entry, such as attendance logs, feedback forms or basic evaluation tasks

• Where appropriate and comfortable, to share parts of your own lived experience and recovery journey 

• Conduct Parent Information calls to support our work before the programme starts and when it has been completed

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for volunteers who can bring some of the following skills and experience to the role. We don’t expect that you will meet every point — we value both professional and lived experience, and we offer training and support to help you grow and develop your skills.

• Working with young people, particularly in group settings (e.g. teaching, youth work, mentoring, facilitation, or similar)

• Knowledge of mental health, emotional wellbeing, and youth voice

• Planning, organising and basic admin tasks

• Computer literacy 

• Working as part of a team and ability to reflect on your own practice

• Awareness of safeguarding principles

• Lived experience of mental health challenges (this may include your own experience or supporting others)

Amy’s Place is a partnership between the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Clarion Housing Group providing supported living accommodation for young women in recovery and receiving support with drug and alcohol issues.

A confident and experienced hypnotherapist, with appropriate qualifications and interest in working with clients affected by addiction. The successful applicant will be someone who can provide supportive and calming sessions tailored to the individual needs of the client to promote their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Activities

• 1:1 or group Hypnotherapy sessions for residents
• Provide a safe, relaxing, therapeutic environment for the activity to take place.
• Suitable candidates must hold a professional qualification
• Volunteers may be asked to have professional liability insurance

Support

•  Volunteers receive a thorough induction and have access to any relevant in-house and external training.
• Volunteers have a named supervisor providing day-to-day support and encouragement.

This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on your availability and the needs of service users.  It might be every week or fortnight, 3 to 4 hours, ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

About The Role

We’re WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to our world's problems. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish. We lead the way, bring life and inspire connection. 

Volunteers are integral to the running of our Welney centre and without their help we wouldn’t be able to welcome our visitors to this amazing wetland. Your role will be helping to bring people of all ages and backgrounds closer to wetland wildlife, by providing assistance to visitors and encouraging them to explore the site and learn about WWT’s pioneering wetland conservation work, to save wetlands for wildlife and people. You’ll support the delivery of excellent customer service for the retail and membership team, inspiring people to support us as members of the WWT, and be a warm and welcoming face for our cause.

We are looking for volunteers who can ideally give one day a week, exact hours to be agreed.

Time commitment? We are looking for volunteers who can ideally commit to one day across the week. Shifts are negotiable, with suitable breaks. After completing training and an induction for this role, we ask volunteers to spend a minimum of 6 months volunteering with WWT Welney. 

You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and other information you need. This will include risk assessments based on your role and any particular support you need. Volunteers receive access to our sites, and discounts in our shops and cafes. Some roles include a uniform or require the use of equipment or protective clothing. If you are based at a particular site or office location, you’ll need to be able to get yourself there and back. Information on locations can be found on our website. We will keep you up to date with what’s happening across WWT and the difference you will be helping to make happen.

Salford City College is currently seeking professionals with Board-level or appropriate life experience to join our Corporation Board.

What will you be doing?

As one of the most successful and influential colleges in the region, Salford City College is home to over 11,000 students spread across six campuses, offering a broad range of provision from A-levels and vocational courses, to Apprenticeships, Higher Education, community outreach programmes and employer training.

We are actively seeking to diversify the makeup of the Corporation to more accurately reflect our student body.

The post is voluntary, and the typical commitment is around 90 hours per academic year. In addition to the work of the Corporation and its committees, governors are encouraged to participate in the life of the College, which includes graduations, award ceremonies and shows performed by the celebrated Pendleton School of Theatre.

What are we looking for?

Applications are particularly welcomed from those with experience in the following areas:

• Teaching and Academia – we are looking for applicants with academic backgrounds in Further or Higher Education and, in particular, those with experience of teaching inspection/audits, quality assurance or academic governance.
• Business and commercial - we are seeking applicants who have held senior executive roles within the private, business and commercial sectors.
