Our challenge
The Community Fundraising Team is an integral part of The Charity Fundraising Portfolio, with an income target of £3.6 million in 2024/25 and the team consists of Community Fundraisers based across the UK. Our role is to provide fundraising advice and support to our DIY individual fundraisers, Supporter Groups, Community Organisations and Regional Corporates.

How can you help?
We are recruiting a team of Community Fundraising Volunteers to help us engage with our amazing DIY fundraisers through a variety of Social Media channels, including our Regional Facebook Pages. We aim to inspire, motivate and advise our DIY fundraisers via social media to maximise fundraising opportunities across the UK. To do so, we want to be able to engage with our community in an exciting, informative and consistent way. As part of a team of Community Fundraising Social 
Media Volunteers, you’d help us by:
• Supporting us to develop and manage the Community Fundraising Team Social Media Plan for 2025/26.
• Supporting us to create inspiring and motivating engagement opportunities with our DIY & Supporter Group community, utilising all our Social Media Channels.
• Updating our CRM with details of the Fundraiser, their DIY event & any action taken in response to their contact with us.

You’ll play a vital role in the Community Fundraising Team, helping us provide the best possible experience to our fundraisers.

We’re looking for...
Someone who is passionate about The Charity and our vision. You’ll also need to be: 
• Confident in communicating at all levels, with strong copywriting & social media experience
• Confident with the use of Hootsuite (or similar Social Media software), CRM & MS Outlook.
• Able to identify new opportunities to raise awareness and funds.

Time commitment

Practical considerations
You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of our Senior Community Fundraisers, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some 
internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. 
We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

Lead Support Volunteer

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Lead Support Volunteer for the Stratford-upon-Avon and District Group. As a Lead Support Volunteer, you will be coordinating the support team, representing the needs of people affected by MS and our services and collate information about relevant local organisations. Support Session Volunteer

You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities.  Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis.  The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual.

As a support session volunteer, you might:

· help people have their say when it matters most

· Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met

· help people to make complaints and use local services

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

What happens next?

After you apply, the manager will ask you to come in for an initial chat. This is not an interview, just a chance to get an idea of what you'd like to do help out. From there, you can meet the rest of the volunteer team and get involved with whatever area of the shop takes your interest!

As a Welcome volunteer, you will be an invaluable part of the Birmingham team, supporting the hub to deliver vital frontline services. You'll be the first point of contact for clients and visitors, assisting the hub team with duties, and supporting the operation of the Shelter office in their day-to-day business 

You’ll act as the first point of contact for our clients, helping to understand their needs and help them access necessary advice and assistance through the duty or appointment services. Being a positive presence in the hub to ensure visitors feel comfortable and welcomed.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference to the households we assist. You’ll be developing your own knowledge and skills to assist local people with a range of housing issues as well as providing practical guidance and providing a friendly, listening ear. You will gain experience of volunteering within a recognised national housing charity, while supporting your local community.

As a Welcome Volunteer, you’ll be supporting the day-to-day work of Shelter’s Advice Team as they provide advice and guidance to the people visiting the Birmingham hub. 

Volunteers are essential to Shelter’s mission to end housing injustice. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. The insights and life experience our volunteers bring to Shelter are valued as much as their contribution through volunteering. 

We aim to provide our volunteers with a positive experience. This is by prioritising accessibility and tailoring the advice we provide to the needs of the individual. We make sure our policies and processes are equitable, which means that no-one is unfairly disadvantaged while volunteering because of their background or identity.

Main Tasks include:

• Greeting people who come to the office and aiding in Reception 

• Communicating with clients via phone and email to share updates on their case and to gather information. 

• To obtain feedback and service user consents 

• Signposting clients to relevant services and providing useful information. 

• General tasks (e.g. photocopying, scanning, and filing).

Skills and experience required:

• Good communication skills and the ability to understand the needs of our clients.

• The ability to speak Somalian or Arabic would be helpful, but certainly not essential 

• Interest in housing issues; welfare benefits; debt; community care 

• The ability to work as part of a team and value and communicate effectively with others

• Confident using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Teams and PDF documents to a good standard 

• Willingness to follow Shelter’s policies, including volunteering, health & safety, equality & diversity, confidentiality & data protection

The Children's Book Project is a national charity on a mission to tackle book poverty. We passionately believe that every child should have the opportunity to own a book and have, in the last year, celebrated gifting our 1 millionth book! We are looking for some wonderful volunteers to help us in managing book sorting and packing with a range of amazing corporate volunteers at our three HQs in Birmingham, Leeds and London.

We gift beautiful pre-loved and new books to schools and we gift within prison settings in order to reach children who may not otherwise have access to book ownership.

We are looking for volunteers in Birmingham, Leeds and London able to help us in the running of our book sorting days at each of our three HQs.  Ideally you will be able to commit to 2-3 days per half term.  (We work term-times only).  Our hours are 10am - 2:30pm.

We work with a range of amazing corporate volunteer teams who come to organise, sort and then pack our books in preparation for delivery. These corporate days are always full of energy and fun and we are looking for energetic and passionate people to support these events as Volunteer Coordinators - helping to make sure that there is a warm welcome, a clear plan for the day and that our one-off visitors can contribute productively.

What is required:

• On average, a commitment to 2 days per half term 
• Flexibility to travel to your local HQ for sorting and corporate volunteering days
• A can-do attitude and enjoyment of working as part of a team.
