In this exciting residential placement, you will learn sustainable woodland management practices through hands-on practical tasks, help support our off-grid water and sanitation systems and make improvements around site using our natural resources. You will learn how to apply a variety of woodland management techniques and woodworking skills to support biodiversity across CAT’s managed woodland spaces.
Volunteering with the CAT Water and Woodland team helps to provide beautiful, healthy, diverse and peaceful outdoor spaces for visitors, educational groups and CAT staff to learn from and enjoy.

In 2020 we set up our virtual Childline base to support children and young people by answering their e mail contacts. Home-based Childline email counsellors respond to emails from young people who have got in touch with something that's worrying them, whether it's bullying, abuse, self-harm or family relationships.

Treasurer and Bookkeeper Volunteer
What the role involves:
A support group treasurer and bookkeeper take on specific roles and responsibilities in the managing and reporting of the group’s finances. One volunteer can do both roles or two volunteers can work together, dividing responsibilities. The key tasks are:
Bookkeeper:
- Digital recording of all group income and expenditure using a monthly account spreadsheet
- Submit monthly accounts to the Stroke Association together with receipts and paying in slips
- Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
- Prepare a financial summary for the annual review meeting of the group
- Liaise closely with the group treasurer (where the role is split)
- Aware of the Stroke Association financial guidelines
- Work together with the Stroke Association’s Finance Administrator
Treasurer/card holder:
- Manage the groups prepaid card
- Oversee the day to day income and expenditure, using the group’s pre-paid card and petty cash
- Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
- Ensure all expenses and invoices are paid on time
- Bank any cash or cheques with the Barclays deposit card
- Each month collate receipts, invoices, volunteer claims and registers of all group income and expenditure and email to the bookkeeper (where the role is split) Liaise closely with the book keeper (where the role is split)

Training for this role:
We provide all of our support group treasurers, cardholders and bookkeepers with training so they feel confident in the role and give the best possible support to stroke survivors. All training is over Zoom.

- The Stroke Association’s People welcome session (2.5 hours over Learn)
- GDPR (online module over Learn and factsheet)
- Safeguarding training (online module over Learn)
- Finance training modules (total of 3 hours)
We also offer ongoing support and expenses where appropriate.
Where and when you would volunteer:
The bookkeeper can be a remote role, supporting the financial running of a group from your home for approximately 2 hours per month. As you are not going to the group, you do not need to do the safeguarding training. You’ll need to do the other essential training though.
The treasurer/cardholder is usually a face to face role, one which requires attending the group sessions for sometimes up to 2 hours a week. This will depend on how often your local group meets.

As a Till & Customer Service Volunteer at our Whitchurch shop, you will assist our shop managers by serving and greeting customers and keeping the shop organised.
Our Whitchurch shop is located in a lovely village setting, with many local and returning customers. Whitchurch village is a charity shop hotspot, meaning there is lots of competition.
The staff and volunteers ensure the stock is merchandised beautifully and priced competitively to keep the customer coming back.
The team have hosted many a film crew including for 'Hayley goes...' who visited the shop to understand how shopping at charity shops is environmentally responsible.
The shop is open 9am-5:15pm Monday-Saturday and we appreciate any time you can spare.

About Us
MAPS Mentoring is an award-winning early-intervention project that supports vulnerable children and young people in the London Borough of Sutton. About the Role
We’re looking for Volunteer Mentors to join our MAPS Mentoring team. As a mentor, you’ll meet with a young person in Sutton for 1-2 hours weekly for up to a year. Meetings are flexible and can take place in the evenings, weekends, or during the week for our older mentees, or for in-school mentoring.
No prior experience is needed - just a genuine desire to make a difference in a young person’s life.
With a budget provided for food, drinks, activities, and travel, you and your mentee can choose what to do together. Whether it’s casual coffee chats, dog walks, or saving up for more adventurous outings like GoKarting, Thorpe Park trips, or even indoor skydiving, the choice is yours!
What We’re Looking For
Excellent communication and listening skills
Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust
Sensitivity and understanding of the challenges young people face
A positive attitude and reliability
Commitment to meeting with a mentee weekly for up to a year
Willingness to undergo a DBS check and attend a full day of training
Prior experience working with young people is welcome but not essential

Single Parents Support and Advice Services is a Charitable Incorporated Company with over 35000 members UK wide.
Our charity founder and director, Nicola Booth, took the initiative to set up SPSAS in 2012, with the purpose to reduce isolation, loneliness, and to promote equal and fair treatment amongst Single Parents and their Children. We also aim to help, advise and support single / lone parents by giving them access to support and services that they normally would not be able to access for varied reasons. We try to eliminate the stigma attached to being a single parent in society, within all ethnicities across the UK.
Our charity runs solely on donations and all members of our charity, including the director are currently working on a non-paid voluntary basis. Despite these hurdles, we feel we have made a positive impact with our services.
We are looking for a solicitor or barrister to occasionally supervise our legal student advisors currentlystudying LPC/BPC. The role is based remotely
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to, will include the supervision of students carrying out legal work, including some legal advice activity,
Essential
·Be a qualified solicitor/barrister with experience of family law and various other laws;
·Have a valid practice certificate
·Commitat least 1 day a week for a minimum 3-month period
·Have an enthusiasm for working with students;
·Have proven networking and public speaking skills;
·Be dedicated to providing a stimulating learning environment for students;
·Have a demonstrable commitment to pro bono, ideally through pro bono work or volunteering;
·Have an understanding of and commitment to the roles of both clinics and pro bono in the provision of legal services;
·Have excellent organisational and management skills;
·Have excellent verbal and written skills and ability to convey complex information in an accessible way;
·Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines ;
·Be able to prioritise tasks;
·Be able to work as part of a team;
·Be able to use computer and information technology;
·Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and motivation

Trustee needed for Faith in Action Homelessness Project. We are seeking a Trustee to join our committed Board working to end homelessness in Merton.
About Us: FiA runs a twice weekly drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed people and a Winter Night Shelter which works in collaboration with faith groups including a Mosque, a Synagogue, a Hindu Temple and Christian churches to provide overnight accommodation and support to find long term housing solutions.
Our Small Team consists of a Manager, a Winter nightshelter co-ordinator and seven part time staff. The Trustee team is a very hands on group - many are volunteers at the night shelter or drop in and it is a very committed and passionate team.
We are looking for three new trustees to make our board up to 12.
The Trustee role
This role involves more than just attending meetings. We are responsible for:
Setting the strategic direction of the charity
Ensuring tranparency and accountablity
Taking specific areas of responsibility - leading on fundraising, or staff recruitment, or governance or communication and PR for the charity.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuatls who can lead on the following areas:
1. Fundraising - especially developing partnerships with local businesses
2. Communications - including managing our strategy on social media and community engagement
3, Governance - supporting the development of policies and procedures
4. HR - offering advice on recruitment and management of staff
