Why we want you 

We are the RSPCA South Bucks Branch and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day. 

Can you help us provide high levels of care to our cats? We are looking for reliable volunteers to help the cats in our small cattery by keeping them fed, watered, and clean, and providing them with vital socialising and human contact while they are waiting to be rehomed. You will enhance your animal care skills and have the satisfaction of making our cats very happy whilst they wait for their forever home.

Overview of the role

As a volunteer Cattery Assistant, you will play a vital role by providing daily care and attention to cats who are waiting to be rehomed. As well as the essential tasks of feeding the cats and cleaning the cattery pens, you will also spend some quality time engaging in play and cuddling the cats. 

Many of the cats in our care have never experienced life in a loving, family home, so this plays a vital role in bridging the gap until they find their forever home. 

This is a physically demanding role and requires someone who really cares about cat welfare. Full online and onsite training will be provided, and you will be supported by the Volunteer Cat Co-ordinator and other volunteers.

Volunteers need to commit on a set morning each week starting between 8am and 9am for a two hour session and be available for a minimum six month commitment.  The role is not suitable for people who can only attend occasionally.

What you will be doing 

• Preparing and providing food and water for the cats in the cattery, as per the instructions for each cat.

• Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the cattery to a high standard of cleanliness, making our cats are as comfortable as possible.

• Following the health and safety procedures and ensuring that they are always observed.

• Complete observation forms, so that we can monitor the progress and welfare of each cat. 

• Inform the volunteer Cat Co-ordinator about any changes in behaviour or health concerns. 

• Adhere to any other guidelines and notices about the welfare of the cats in the cattery. 

• Groom and socialise the cats, being mindful that each will have their own temperament and character.

• Spend time with cats in the cattery pens - playing, grooming, encouraging mobility, and providing those essential cuddles. Always being mindful that each cat will have their own temperament and character.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cattery Assistant

• Experience of cats and caring for them. Able to understand and show sensitivity to their behaviour. You may have gained this as a cat owner or through a professional or volunteer cat-caring role. 

• Can carry out demanding, physical tasks. Cleaning the pens is hard work and you will need to bend and stretch to reach all areas. You must be able to lift containers of cat feed and litter.  

• Must be comfortable cleaning up cat faeces, urine, and vomit. Always following the bio-security procedures. 

• The site is outdoors in a garden. There is no toilet on-site but there is access to outdoor hot and cold taps for handwashing.

• Being highly committed and able to volunteer for a couple of hours on a set day each week is essential. The cats will be relying on you to care for them. 

• Able to complete the daily observation forms. 

• Capable of working with minimal supervision, once fully trained. 

• Has a level of resilience as you will see the result of neglect at first hand.

• A patient and understanding nature. 

• Volunteers need to be aged 18 or over.

• Must be able to complete comprehensive online induction training. You will need basic IT skills and access to a computer.  You will need to have access to a mobile phone and be willing to be part of the team’s Whatsapp group which is used for sharing information and updates about the cats.

Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our cat adoption team leaders support cat homing and as part of this they may lead a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families. Our cat adoption team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

• Play an active part in the volunteer committee, being part of the team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat welfare team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with Cats Protection policy and procedures

About our Trustee Team

Our Trustees are a team of volunteers who use their diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives to set the strategic direction of the charity and make sure it’s doing what it was set up to do in the best possible way.

Family Holiday Charity has an ambitious strategy over the next few years, which will see us expand our services to families, develop our influencing work within the travel and leisure industry and government, and evolve our ways of working so that we can accept and use gifted breaks, travel and other services at scale, to give families who really need it a holiday.

To help us do all that we’ll need the guidance, challenge, connections, and support of all our Trustees.
Given our goals, we’re particularly looking to add the following professional skills and experiences to our team.

• HR-Focused- a Trustee who will serve as Chair of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, providing strategic oversight of people, culture and organisational development whilst acting as the Board’s Safeguarding lead and supporting the Charity’s safeguarding assurance framework. Prior safeguarding experience is desirable but not essential.

The Commitment 

We’ll ask you to participate in four two-hour Board Meetings per year, typically in person at our office in London or remotely.We also get together for a Strategy Day in September/October, which is held on a weekday in London, and you’d need to attend that in person.

We can support with any access needs for in-person meetings.,

There are two Board sub-committees- one which focuses on our Finances and Risk, and one which considers our people (Trustees and Staff). Once you’ve settled into the role, most Trustees join one of them. They meet remotely around four  times a year.

Outside of formal meetings, you’ll be warmly encouraged to get to know the staff team, and attend fundraising events 
or other events to meet referrers, families, and supporters wherever possible.

Overall, you’ll need to be able to commit around 6 hours each month for a mix of meetings and events, contributing
your skills and perspective to projects, building your knowledge of the charity and developing as a Trustee.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Autistic Parents UK is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our incredible team. We are a fully user-led registered charity, offering peer support, webinars, training, signposting and resources on lived Autistic parenthood.

We welcome anyone who would like to offer their time alongside us in our aim to support people at whatever stage they are at with their understanding of Autism and being Autistic. We strive to treat all people with understanding, respect and compassion and are dedicated to being inclusive of ALL Autistic parents and of the needs of our volunteers and beneficiaries. 

We want to proactively address all factors that cause barriers to entry for those involved in the running of APUK and those who access support. By joining Autistic Parents UK as a volunteer, you will be part of a compassionate and diverse community that strives to empower Autistic families.

This role involves supporting small, topic-based video peer support groups for Autistic parents . Volunteers work alongside a lead peer supporter, acting as a second group supporter to help sessions run smoothly and ensure participants feel welcomed, supported, and able to take part.

The role focuses on peer support, shared experience, and gentle co-facilitation, rather than leading or moderating the group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend scheduled video peer support group sessions alongside a lead peer supporter.

• Support the facilitation of group discussions by encouraging participation and helping conversations flow naturally.

• Help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants feel safe to share.

• Offer empathetic peer support and appropriate contributions based on lived experience, where relevant.

• Provide light technical support during sessions where needed (for example, helping participants with audio, video, or platform features).

• Support group structure by helping to keep discussions aligned with the session topic and time boundaries.

• Raise any wellbeing, safeguarding, or technical concerns to the lead peer supporter or staff member as appropriate.

What We Are Looking For:

• Good listening and communication skills.

• A calm, supportive, and non-judgemental approach.

• Confidence using video meeting platforms (such as Zoom/Google Meet or similar), or willingness to learn.

• An interest in supporting Autistic parents .

• Lived experience of being an Autistic Parent .

• Reliability and ability to work collaboratively with a lead peer supporter.

Support and Matching:
You will be supported by a lead peer supporter during sessions, with training, guidance, and ongoing support provided. We aim to match volunteers with group topics that align with their interests and experiences wherever possible. Groups include EHCP's and Working with professionals, Parenting Teens, 0-5's. We are particularly keen to hear from people who would be able to support a group for those who identify as "Dad's and Father's"

This is a flexible, remote volunteering opportunity. Volunteers are asked to attend agreed video sessions, with regular or occasional commitment discussed in advance. Expected time commitment 1-2 hours a month.

Full training and support will be given. Regular oppourtunities for reflection with our Volunteer Coordinator

Volunteer role: Advocate

Reports to: Advocate Lead

Commitment level: Flexible hours to suit Advocate availability.  No set hours are stipulated. 

Location: Stamford, Bourne, Deeping and surrounding villages. 

Purpose of the Voluntary role:

The Advocacy role can be very rewarding; it’s a way of getting involved in supporting your local community and making a difference. It can give you the chance to feel valued, learn new skills, be part of a team and meet new people. An Advocate means giving support to another person to help them access information and advice; enabling them to express their views and wishes and to remain independent and in control of their daily affairs. 

Key Responsibilities:

• listen to views and concerns of the person requiring help

• help the person explore their options and rights (without pressuring them)

• assist in helping to complete application forms

• provide information to help the person make informed decisions

• help the person contact relevant people, or make contact on their behalf

• accompany the person and support them in meetings

• maintain confidentiality at all times unless given express permission to share information

• provide non-judgemental support and guidance

• uphold the Values of Evergreen Care Trust (Trust)

Key relationships:

• Supporting and helping people who are referred or refer themselves to the Advocacy Service for assistance 

• Working with the Advocacy Lead and Members of the Team

• Working with Members of Staff delivering the Trust’s ‘Paid for’ Services 

• Working alongside other Volunteer Groups within the Trust

• Working with local and national organisations, i.e. Citizens Advice, Department for Work and Pensions

Skills, Qualifications and experience required:

No formal qualifications are required

Essential Skills: Good oral and written communication; able to maintain confidentiality

Desirable Skills: Able to build relationships; caring; understanding; honest and open; problem solver and resource finder.  IT skills and your own transport would be helpful.

Training and support required:

Online Safeguarding training is compulsory.

Availability of parking at work location:

Limited parking at Evergreen Care Office in Stamford.   Home visits are usually arranged so parking can be varied upon location.   The Advocate will confirm and agree to suitable parking at the time of arranging an external appointment.

We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

The Network meet regularly, every Wednesday evening, but this is not mandatory to attend; occasionally would be wonderful. Need to attend regular Network Leads meetings (monthly).

Following the successful shortlisting of your application, you will be invited to an in-person interview. This is a relaxed opportunity for us to get to know you, and you to learn more about the role and ensure it is a good fit for your volunteering aspirations. We will then undertake necessary screening for the role, including an Enhanced DBS check, right to volunteer check, professional references and an occupational health assessment. Please note this process usually takes around 6 weeks.

Volunteers would be expected to attend training for the role both online and in person, to attend regularly network weekly meetings to enable them to keep their skills up to date.

If you are successful you will need to undertake relevant training for the role, details of which will be discussed after you have been appointed.

• Inductions and training or this role will need to take place - As a President, many personal embedded skills are required. An Induction programme into the Organisation will be delivered.

Volunteer at Cockpit

Become part of the Cockpit volunteer team! 

In 2026, Cockpit celebrates 40 years of supporting makers, and we have an ambitious calendar of events planned. Our 40th anniversary events, taking place at both Cockpit Bloomsbury and Cockpit Deptford, include our biannual Open Studios, the launch of our annual report, The Cockpit Effect, during London Craft Week, and more.

Each event is an invaluable opportunity to meet a diverse body of artist-makers that create and showcase their craft directly to the public.  The volunteer team are key to helping Cockpit deliver a smooth and enriching experience to all our partners and visitors.

What is Cockpit?
Cockpit is a centre of excellence in contemporary craft. Spanning a wide range of craft disciplines, Cockpit makers are united by their extraordinary skill and imagination. Bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, our mission is to equip makers to succeed on their own terms, creatively and commercially. 

A charity and award-winning social enterprise, Cockpit gives makers tools to build their businesses so they can focus on what they do best: making. We provide funded studio space, in-house business training and coaching, and exhibition opportunities for 176 makers practicing 23 different disciplines. Beyond Cockpit we work with makers throughout the United Kingdom and internationally.

The Role: Events Volunteer

What will you do?

By joining the Cockpit team as a volunteer, you help us by being an on-site presence at our events, and you will actively engage with those running the event, offer help, talk to and guide visitors around the building, and pass any problems/issues back to the event manager. 

Key qualities: 

• Ideal for someone with a genuine interest in craft and the creative sector and keen to learn from interactions with the core team and makers

• Good communication skills, friendly and with a natural ability to engage with the public

• Confident with sharing some knowledge with visitors about Cockpit and what it does as a charity

• Possess a calm and measured presence to assist with the smooth delivery of the events

Who are we looking for?

• Presentable, confident, and enthusiastic individuals who have a keen interest in craft, design, and the visual arts

• Have some experience of working at events, customer service, and/or invigilating exhibitions

• Can confidently and clearly give directions and assist the public with queries

• Able to attend online and on-site training/orientation sessions

  • Thursday 26-Sunday 29 November – Winter Open Studios

• Deptford: 
  • Friday 12-Sunday 14 June – Summer Open Studios
  • Friday 4-Sunday 6 December – Winter Open Studios

Hours of Work: 

• You would be expected to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the public opening times

• The shifts are usually in 3-hour blocks with1 half hour (30 minute) break, unless specified

• You will not need to be available for all the days/times, but should be able to offer shifts equivalent to two (2) full days

Expenses 

• A stipend of £25 is available to cover daily travel expenses and food allowance. Please provide receipts with your claim form.

• You will receive a lunch voucher if you work a full day, redeemable at the onsite café

• Refreshments and light snacks will be provided for breaks
