What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and organised people across Northern Ireland to be a Community Fundraising Volunteer. Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. That means, our community fundraising volunteers play a really important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you'll do

You'll volunteer without regular time commitments, ‘as and when' volunteering! Engage with the public, organisations and local communities – promoting a positive image of the NSPCC! You'll be a valued part of one of our Volunteer Community Fundraising Team in Northern Ireland, raising awareness and funds. We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle. You only need to commit to a couple of hours a month, but if you want to do more that would be great.

What you'll get

We'll support you with advice, skills and tools to help you fundraise and spread the word of the NSPCC. You'll learn more about how you're helping to protect children across the UK, and you'll have the opportunity to grow your skills and inspire others to support us. About the Cycle Responder role

St John Ambulance has operated Cycle Response Units for more than 15 years having invested significantly in state of the art equipment and helping to establish public safety cycling across the UK emergency services. CRU has become a key response asset for St John Ambulance at major events (e.g. marathons, parades and significant national occasions) as well as smaller community based events, often being the first resource on scene. Being part of a CRU is an exciting way to give back, and suited to someone who has the time, energy and passion to learn new skills whilst on ‘the job’.

Getting started

We are advertising for cycle responders across different locations in the North East. Interviewing and recruitment will take place across the region, as required by applications/demand. Course will be run during the spring of 2025 across our pre-identified locations.

As a specialist function, volunteers are asked to consider that beyond any local events which will be advertised to them, a number of larger deployments and out-of-area events are included as part of the role. We also ask candidates to consider that this role does expect them to already be comfortable in their cycling skills and preferably regularly cycling in their day-to-day life across different road conditions/surfaces. Training for role will revolve around aspects of group riding and SJA-specific ways of working.

There will be an interview, in person, comprising of a discussion around candidate's motivations and cycling skills. Successful candidates will be shortlisted and offered a place on the next available course.

We are looking for a trustee with a Paediatric Therapy specialism to join the established Board of Trustees. This is an opportunity to join the charity at an exciting time of great development.

We're inviting applications from:

• A Paediatric Therapist - Physiotherapist /Occupational Therapist
• Minimum 2 years Paediatric experience
• HCPC registered
• Currently practicing (NHS/Private/Charity)

In addition, it would be useful but not essential if the applicant also has:

• Experience in community setting

We are a new Community Interest Company offering arts, gardening and wellbeing workshops to all.  We are currently running on a 100% voluntary basis and are looking for some revenue to offer more to our local communities. Duties can include;

• Apply to a list of grant/funders which will be provided. Research potential grant providers to seek funding opportunities especially those relating to Flourish Arts Network's areas of operation.
• Determine and create plans to streamline the grants administration procedure.
• Initiate contact and write bids to raise funds to support for Flourish Arts Network.
• Liaise with grant providers to ensure receipt of applications, and get feedback for any unsuccessful bids in order to learn and develop moving forward.
• Closely track grant expenditure and monitoring for successful bids, in line with the terms of each grant received.
• Join us for for refreshements and conversations at some of our free events.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

Do you live in Sefton? Do you want to be the difference between a life saved and a life lost? We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across Sefton (including Southport, Formby, Waterloo, Crosby and Maghull).

The volunteers would be expected to attend their network meeting on a regular (at least monthly basis) and partake in a range of operational events.

Interviews would take place in early to mid October 2025. This event will include an informal chat with some of our current volunteers, a quick introduction to St John Ambulance (and an opportunity to learn some lifesaving skills!) as well as screening checks.

Are you a dog lover with room in your home to look after a dog during evenings and weekends? This could be the perfect role for you!

As a Training Dog Fosterer, you’ll provide a loving temporary home to a dog in training, typically for a period of 12 to 20 weeks, as they begin their journey to become a guide dog. You’ll get to see the progress your furry companion is making in their training and be a vital part of their journey, without the commitment of looking after a dog full time.

What you’ll be doing:

In this rewarding role, your support for a guide dog in training will include:

• Doing the school run for your dog in training! This will typically involve dropping them off and picking them up at an agreed time Monday to Friday at one of our regional centres or community teams, however, some sites may vary. There are some locations where we will be able to collect and return the training dog from your home. 
• Caring for your dog in your home such as feeding, grooming, free running and playing, following the advice of our expert staff.
• Helping your dog keep up with their training by reinforcing the techniques at home from our first-class training programme.
• Making sure your dog is not left alone for more than four hours in a 24-hour period. If you’re planning on going on holiday, let us know at your initial phone call so we can plan alternative cover for your future life changer.

Can I foster a dog?

If you’re hoping to foster a guide dog in training, here’s what we ideally look for:

• Being close to one of our regional centres or community teams so that your dog can get to their training. 
• The agreement of your landlord to have a dog in your home if you rent your home.
• A safe and secure area outside for the dog to go to the toilet.

However, we try to be flexible – for example, you’ll still be able to foster a dog if you live in London, even if you don’t have access to outside space.

You’ll attend a training workshop to understand the basics of our bespoke training techniques so you can confidently support your dog’s training at home. If you have questions about the training requirements, we can answer these at your initial phone call along with any other support or accessibility needs you may have.

Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any pre-agreed expenses related to volunteering with us, including veterinary costs, dog food costs and other materials needed for your dog’s training.

Minimum age for volunteer is 18.

We also have a respite fosterer role available in some areas, where a dog would stay with you full time before moving on to the next stage of its journey.

You'll volunteer with the Board to stage a variety of corporate and community events to bring professionals and the public together to raise funds for local NSPCC services. You'll also support your local Community Fundraising Manager to secure support to enable the delivery of NSPCC led campaigns and events. You'll be a valued part of our Swindon Business Board, a group which has been fundraising consistently for 30 years and which sits within our Swindon Branch network of volunteers who have a legacy of supporting children in the Swindon area for 125 years.
