We are looking for new volunteers from all over South West and Channel Islands to be Speak out. Stay Safe Volunteers. You would visit primary schools local to you to help us protect a generation of children from abuse and neglect.

In 2022 the NSPCC's Speak out. Stay safe volunteers returned to primary schools. As a Speak out. Stay safe. volunteer, you will visit primary schools to deliver Speak out. Stay safe. workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Our Speak out. Stay safe. workshops are age-appropriate and memorable and need an energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver them. You'll work alongside other Speak out. Stay safe. volunteers to make sure at the end of each session the children feel empowered and know who they can speak out to if they are worried.

Job Title: Community Engagement Volunteer – Norfolk & Suffolk Victim Care Service

Place of Work: Office & Community based

Hours of Work: Minimum of 8 hours per month

Reporting to: Partnerships & Inclusion Lead

Screening: Enhanced DBS check & Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) – Level 2 (?)

We accept applications from people with a wide range of skills & experiences. Existing knowledge & previous experience are not essential and a full training program will be provided as part of the role. The victims of crime that face our service are of a wide range of people and we are searching for a wide range of volunteers to suite the needs of our service users.

Purpose of the role

To support and work alongside our Partnerships & Inclusion Manager on face-to-face- visits at conferences and events in the community. You will provide direct support to victims of crime in the local community and complete satisfaction surveys for the service, and sign post them on to other local services based on their individual needs..

Activities

· To Support the Partnerships & Inclusion Manager, and other case workers at events. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean you will take a lead at these events but you will be there for face-to-face support for the service users. This could include general chat, making hot drinks, and delivering leaflets, and sign posting to local services.

· You will engage with the public and promote the service to victims of crime, sometimes on occasion where the crime is historic. You will support the Partnerships & Inclusion Manager with running sessions within the community.

· You may come into contact with service users on the tail-end of their journey and will sign post them to any additional services which may help their needs. This could include regular check-ins and follow-ups to see if the service users have used the services available to them.

· Engage with local Universities to spread awareness of the service, common crimes more broadly, and be a part of the overall prevention of crime.

· You will gain a general understanding of the service and the types of crime local to Norfolk & Suffolk. This could include data analysis, crime prevention tactics, and sharing and communicating this information to the general public, service users, and team members as a whole.

· You will be a part of a group that provides initial support to service users and play a front-facing part of the service.

· You will listen to the needs of service users and link them up with relevant support available within the community.

· You will work in partnership with other services and charities to understand what is on offer for Victims of Crime.

· You will support and fill in for practitioners at events which could include for some of our volunteers the opportunity to deliver talks at places such as schools. This includes all other Catch22 policies and legal obligations such as adherence to GDPR.

· You will collect survey responses but also liaise with Partnerships & Inclusion Manager and other team members to respond to the survey if required.

· Ensure that our service users are kept safe and adhere to Catch22’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

· Has an interest and enthusiasm for the Criminal Justice System and a want to care for those that have been a victim of crime.

· Any skills which may be of use to the role such as an ability to analyse and present data.

Entry Requirements:

To volunteer for NSVCS, you must be over 18 and of good character. You will have a caring nature and non-judgmental attitude.

The ability to work from our office and willingness to travel to support community engagement across Norfolk and/or Suffolk.

A Finance Assistant helps support the financial operations of the organisation. The core role typically includes assisting with bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial record-keeping, assisting with the preparation of year end, and producing a yearly review for the strategy day, along with attending monthly meetings and assisting in the updating of the board. All tasks under the guidance of a Treasurer. The purpose of the role is so the organisation can maintain accurate financial records, comply with regulations, and make informed decisions. It’s also a valuable learning opportunity for volunteers interested in finance, accounting.

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

• Inputting financial data into spreadsheets Sage and Google Sheets

• Filing and organizing invoices, receipts, and bank statements

• Assisting with bank reconciliations

• Helping to prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports

• Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and audits

• Assisting with volunteer expense claims

• Maintaining confidentiality and handling data responsibly

What do we expect from a Finance Assistant?

Essential:

• Basic understanding of finance or accounting principles

• Good IT skills, particularly Google Sheets

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience with accounting software (Sage is a plus)

• Commitment to the values and mission of Hidayah

How much commitment is required?

The role is flexible and can work around your current commitments.  On average it should take less than two hours per week.  A few things to note is that we ask you try to: 

• Attend the monthly meetings (held online for an average of 2 hours).

• Attend Hidayah’s Strategy Day (once a year) if the Treasurer is unable to

• Be available to catch up meetings with the treasurer and the chair of the charity.

• Work alongside the treasurer to keep accurate records, and check and respond to emails in a timely fashion.

Every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their background. Action Tutoring is a charity dedicated to closing the attainment gap and creating a more equitable future for young people.

We're building a diverse community of tutors passionate about educational equity. We are seeking dedicated volunteers from all walks of life to tutor and support pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage in maths and English.

As a volunteer tutor, you’ll:

• Tutor a group of 1-3 pupils (primary or secondary), with options to support online or in-person.

• Dedicate just one hour a week for a 10-20 week programme.

We provide the resources - you bring your enthusiasm! You’ll use our workbooks to deliver your sessions.

Whether you're a university student, a working professional, retired or simply looking to give back, your hour a week can open doors to brighter futures for these young people and make a lasting impact.

What you'll gain:

• Comprehensive training (2-hour induction, technical training for online tutors, optional further skills training).

Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and engaging tutors to provide educational support to primary aged pupils in Maths and English and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with long-term illnesses.

What will you be doing? 

1. Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person. 

2. Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to KS1 and KS2 Maths and English. 

3. Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions. 

4. Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

What are we looking for? 

1. Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of Primary Maths and English Curriculum. 

2. Teaching Skills: Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.

3. Empathy and Patience: Kind and understanding nature, especially towards those facing health challenges.

4. Reliability: Consistent availability for the agreed-upon time commitment.

5. Adherence to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

6. You must be a UK resident and be at least 18 years old.
