The Safeguarding Helpline Volunteer will support our award-winning Safeguarding Helpline Team, helping us to offer a high-quality service to people in need of advice and support.

Our helpline takes over 8000 calls a year, with call volume increasing 25% each year. 75% of our calls are from people in crisis and 20% involve children at risk of harm. To help us maintain an efficient service, we need volunteers to help administer our calls, you would not be expected to give expert advice. This role is instrumental in helping us to work in a more efficient way and ensuring an excellent service is given to our customers.

Specific Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls as a first point of contact.
• Open a referral and complete basic details about the caller, passing call to an appropriate team member.
• Open emails and transfer information to a referral, before passing on to an appropriate team member.
• Answering basic questions when taking a call.
• Assisting safeguarding team with general administration.

Are you a qualified Yoga Instructor who would enjoy facilitating weekly sessions in our domestic abuse refuges over the summer holidays? During the school summer holidays, Hestia runs a six-week Summer Play Scheme providing activities and outings for mothers and their children across our refuges. Funded through generous donations from the public, the Summer Play Scheme provides women and children with a safe and supportive space to reconnect by having fun and sharing happy memories together as family.

What you will be doing

• To develop positive relationships with the children and women, maintain professional boundaries and keep accurate records.
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback and report any concerns to the staff team
• Design session plans enabling all group members to increase fitness, suppleness and help them relax
• Teach the group yoga postures and breathing techniques which allow a range of mixed ages and abilities to participate
• Inspire and motivate people to attend and get involved in the group activities where possible and encourage the group to help design future sessions

We are recruiting for volunteers to support our Children and Family Workers to get creative and involved in providing daily activities and outings for the children within our refuges during the summer holidays.

What you will be doing

• To help with the day to day running of the Children & Family Service throughout the summer holidays
• To assist organising and facilitating activities and outings with the Children and Family Worker
• To use a range of skills and tools to make sessions interesting and fun for a range of ages
• To create timetables, posters, maps and instructions for residents
• To offer general admin help: typing, taking meeting minutes, filing and scanning documents
• To develop positive relationships with the children and women

Role: Digital Activities Volunteer

Commitment: Currently, sessions are run both during the week (mostly in the afternoon) and at weekends (usually on a Saturday). What will I be doing?

Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. Our activities are designed for blind young people to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new skills/sports, and become more independent. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people. 

Key Tasks and Main Duties

• encourage members of the group to participate and share their opinions 

Who are you?

What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow RSBC’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for RSBC. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of sight problems.

Safeguarding:

Due to the nature of the role, before you can begin volunteering with RSBC there are some required safeguarding checks which will need to be completed.

All RSBC volunteers undergo an Enhanced DBS check (paid for by RSBC) and must provide two references.

All volunteers will also be booked onto safeguarding training.

RSBC risk assesses all its services and activities.

Are you a skilled and qualified Yoga Instructor and have experience in delivering meditation sessions? We are looking for a female only volunteer to run sessions with a small group of women in our Domestic Abuse refuge. The group will involve some Yoga but will be mainly focused on Meditation due to the lack of space within the refuge.

This role will be a part of our ‘be you’ project which aims to provide a safe and inclusive space in every Hestia refuge to support women to gain confidence, socialise, develop and most importantly enjoy themselves! You will be supporting women to rebuild their lives free from fear!

What you will be doing

• Facilitate a weekly Yoga and meditation session in a small group
• Plan each session and identify any items needed for the Meditation sessions
• Lead on the logistics and set up of the session alongside the staff team Inspire and motivate people using the services to attend

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Little Venice Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

The Orpheus Centre is a specialist further education college and charity working to support young disabled adults, who are passionate about the arts, to achieve their potential and lead independent lives.

Set up by musician and songwriter Sir Richard Stilgoe, Orpheus offers learning, supported housing and personal care on the same site in Godstone, Surrey.

Once your application has been received it will be reviewed, you may then be invited in for an informal interview.

Your references will be checked and you will need to complete the online DBS application before bringing the relevant documents in to be checked.

You will then need to attend all of our training. This can all take 3-4 weeks to be completed before you start volunteering with us.

We're looking for organised and enthusiastic individuals to join us at Urban Youth as a Volunteer in a Remote Role, supporting our Back Office functions, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives across London.

What Help We Need?

1. Administration

• Keeping accurate records of participants and activities.

• Managing schedules for events, sessions, and staff/volunteers.

• Preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.

• Maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

2. Human Resources or Volunteer Coordination 

• Recruitment and training of volunteers.

• Managing HR-related documentation (e.g., agreements, DBS checks, policies).

• Providing ongoing support and development for team members.

3. Training and Development

• Offering youth work training to ensure volunteers understand best practices in working with young people.

• Delivering workshops on communication, conflict resolution, code of conduct and safeguarding.

• Providing continuous learning opportunities, such as leadership and mentoring programmes.

4. Marketing and Communications

• Promoting Urban Youth through social media, newsletters, and local partnerships.

• Designing materials (flyers, posters, etc.) to attract members and supporters.

• Maintaining our website to communicate our mission, events, and achievements.

5. Fundraising and Finance

• Sourcing grants and donations.

• Organising fundraising events.

• Keeping financial records and preparing annual reports for donors and stakeholders.

6. Technology and Data Management

• Implementing software for participant tracking, event management, and communication.

• Maintaining a secure database for storing sensitive information.

• Using tools to measure impact and generate reports.

7. Safeguarding

• Developing policies to ensure the safety of young people in our care.

• Training volunteers on safeguarding practices.

• Conducting regular risk assessments.

8. Operational Support

• Managing physical spaces, equipment, and supplies.

• Ensuring facilities meet health and safety standards.

• Establishing contingency plans for unexpected challenges.
