Key Responsibilities
Advisory
- Provide advice to line managers on employee relations (ER) issues e.g. policies, performance management, end-to-end absence management including return to work meetings, reporting and occupational health referrals etc. Able to resolve complex employee relation issues and conduct investigations where necessary.
- Provide advice to managers across all policy and practice areas, for example on family friendly policies such as maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, carers leave, etc.
- Support the maintenance of existing policy documentation and make changes where applicable
- Proactively take responsibility for the adherence and implementation of HR policies
- Support line managers in the management of employees in probation, and where necessary extension cases
- Support line managers in performance management practices, objective setting and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
HR Analytics
- Report on HR analytics monthly and quarterly for the HR Manager, for example on headcount, sickness, recruitment analytics, staff turnover and remuneration reports.

Talent Acquisition and onboarding

Liaison with the HR Administrator who will support the administration and onboarding.

Learning & Development
- Identify learning needs and appropriate methods of meeting needs in the most cost-effective way.
- Support the HR Manager in the delivery of training as required, including annual conferences and line manager training.
- Ensures training requirements are met to fulfil and maintain health and safety requirements such as First Aid and Fire Safety.
- Ensures that refresher training is completed for existing employees in data protection, cyber security, health and safety, and EDI.

General

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial strategy to ensure long-term resilience, manage the finance team, deliver a high standard of financial governance, and provide effective support for our parishes. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide expert financial guidance to the Bishop, Trustees, and diocesan leaders. You will oversee financial governance, treasury and investment management, risk assessment, and IT strategy, ensuring financial prudence while supporting the mission of the Church.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in complex organisations and, ideally, knowledge of the charity or not for profit sector. The successful candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills, a track record of excellent attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-finance audiences. A commitment to teamwork and supporting parishes is essential.
An understanding of Catholic Church teachings and values is crucial, as you will play a key role in aligning financial decisions with pastoral priorities.
This role will be working 37.5 hours per week, offering a competitive salary of £85,000 - £95,000 per annum.

Role Purpose
The Director of Finance is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for strategic financial leadership and ensuring the financial sustainability of the Diocese. This role encompasses treasury management, investment strategy, risk management, IT oversight, and long-term financial planning. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement a financial strategy aligned with the Diocese’s mission and long-term objectives.

- Ensure compliance with Canon Law, UK financial regulations, and charity law across all jurisdictions.

About the role:
This role is based in London with Hybrid working.
As a Senior IDVA you will be:
- The main purpose of the job is to effectively manage and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active domestic abuse service for victims and their children, including those at highest risk. Also you will need to ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children.
- The job would also include you being lead in crisis situations and to provide advice and guidance on safeguarding issues and information sharing concern
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
- Develop your team and address their individual development/performance needs, set individual and team objectives and undertake annual appraisals.
You will need:
- To be successful in this role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their children, and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments.
- Experience managing the delivery of domestic abuse services and managerial experience will also be necessary as well as having a thorough understanding of IDVA work.
- A proven ability to confidently use various IT systems including Case Management, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook and other online applications/platforms.
- You would also need to hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate, a relevant degree, a vocational qualification or have equivalent experience.
- An enhanced criminal record check and police vetting is required for this role.

Debt Advisor/Caseworker
Supporting Leicester South Foodbank
Job Description
Responsible for:
Advising food bank clients and conducting assessments with people who are experiencing financial crisis or hardship and struggling to pay off debt. Required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations.
Responsible to: Team leader, and Service Delivery Manager
Base Location: The LSFB Community Hub, Wigston, Leicestershire
Hours: 20 Hours per week
Term: Fixed Term until October 2026. This may be extended dependant on further funding opportunities
Salary:£13.50ph
Holidays: 25 days p.a. plus 8 days Bank Holidays pro-rated if the role is part time
Main Responsibilities
● Uphold the aims and principles of the Helping Hands Community Trust and the Leicester South Foodbank.
● Work within the service’s ethos and values, especially regarding equality and discrimination.
● Work within health and safety guidelines, sharing responsibility for own health and safety and that of colleagues.
● Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training.
● Meet with clients face-to-face
● Provide confidential, specialist, debt and budget advice to clients at our main hub and in consultation with the line manager’s, outreach surgeries and venues across Leicester and Leicestershire
● Research, validate, and analyse information provided by a client in order to support and advise them on how to prioritise their debts and ways to repay it affordably and provide advice on dealing with the impacts
● Develop and agree realistic client budgets that fully reflect the client’s situation.
● Present a range of solutions, pointing out the advantages and disadvantages according to the client’s personal situation and make recommendations based on this information
● Compile financial statements
● Advocating on behalf of clients when negotiating with creditors, and other 3rd party organisations
● Ensure that all advice and solutions are presented in accordance with the charity’s policies and procedures and in line with AQS (Advice Quality Service) and thereby compliant with FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and Debt Management directives)
● Assessing client needs through confidential interviews and hold a personal caseload
● Assist people to complete forms, writing letters or making phone calls on behalf of claimants
● Provide advocacy and assist clients with appeals and preparation for tribunals where the client has grounds to challenge decisions
● Working with our partners, other agencies and organisations on behalf of clients
● Assist clients in gaining access to other specialist, legal and professional services as appropriate.

Casework
- Using the CMS AdvicePRO database to maintain electronic case records, for the purpose of continuing casework and information retrieval. These records must be inputted onto the database immediately following the appointment to ensure the records are up to date and accurate
- Act where necessary by calculating, drafting or writing letters and producing written submissions for clients as appropriate
- Negotiate with third parties
- Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits
- Prepare paper submissions to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts as appropriate.
- Assist with related problems where they are an integral part of the case and refer to other advisers or specialists as appropriate.
- Make outreach visits, where necessary and subject to resources and risk assessments.
- Provide advice and assistance to staff and volunteers across the whole range of Welfare Benefits and debt issues.
- Ensure that all casework conforms to the AQS quality standard.
Administration
- Make recommendations for improvements to services.
- Effectively utilise AdvicePRO for statistical recording, case recording & document production.
- Provide 1 Case study/Good news story Monthly to the line manager
- Keep up to date with policies and procedures
Personal Specification
Essential:
- To hold a current DBS certificate, or willing to undergo a DBS check
- English and Maths Grade C/Level 4 or above
- Full UK Driving License with Business Insurance
- Traveling across sites in Leicestershire to see clients in appointment
- IT Confident
- Proficient in Information, Advice and Guidance to clients
- Understanding of the Debt system, and keeping up to date with the change alerts
- Knowledge and experience of giving competent accurate Debt advice to FCA and AQS Quality Mark standards
- Providing debt advice via face to face or telephone
- Negotiating with creditors, bailiffs, third parties by letter/ telephone
- Working with vulnerable clients
- Providing representation and advocacy on behalf of clients

1. Position Summary: Responsible for ensuring that the financial operations and human resources of the regional office of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace runs smoothly and to help facilitate the charism, mission, and direction of the community in the United Kingdom.
2. Position Relationships:
- Accountable to Congregation Leadership Team, Trustees of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace CIO, regional Bursar, and Congregation Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
- Liaises with the Trustees, Congregation Treasurer, CFO, and the Finance Committee
- Interrelationships: CSJP Sisters, financial institutions, financial advisors and investment managers, legal counsel, risk management advisors, IT service providers, auditors, payroll and accounting firm, other Finance personnel across the Congregation, and other parties that support the business of the region.
3. Responsibilities & Authorities
- Contribute to the overall organization and direction of the Congregation in the United Kingdom.
- Maintain oversight of all designated areas and take responsibility for a range of specific duties as outlined below:
Management of Financial Resources
- Manage banking and investment accounts, including relationships with account managers and advisors. Implement policies and procedures for the proper stewardship of Congregation financial resources.
Finance and Accounting
- Maintain accounting records and ensure transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner. Prepare and present financial reports and analyses, including the budget, financial statements, statutory accounts, and other management reports. Handle the annual audit process and ensure timely filing of reports with regulatory authorities.
Payroll and Human Resources Management
- Oversee payroll and pension arrangements and processes. Maintain employee records. Ensure compliance with employment regulations and manage HR matters.
Risk Management
- Together with the CFO and Bursar, assess and manage risks of the region. Manage insurance coverage as appropriate. Implement processes and best practices to ensure the continuity of operations.
Compliance and Contracts Management
- Ensure all relevant policies, legal, and regulatory procedures are in place and adhered to. Represent the organisation in contractual agreements, as authorised by the Board of Trustees.
Property and Capital Expenditures
- Oversee the purchase and sale of real and personal property, including houses, furniture, and vehicles.
Sisters Support
- Provide support to CSJP Sisters, address queries regarding financial matters, such as pensions, bank and credit card accounts, vehicle tax, council taxes, national insurance. Direct concerns to the appropriate parties when necessary.

About the Congregation
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace was founded in Nottingham in 1884 by Mother Clare (Margaret Anna Cusack). She was a woman deeply moved by the social conditions of her times and the plight of poor and oppressed people. The focus of our Congregation is to promote peace through justice. Over the years the sisters have served in social work, health care, education and action for justice
The Congregation consists of three geographic regions: one in the United Kingdom and two in the United States (East and Pacific Northwest). The headquarters of the Congregation is in New Jersey. We have vowed members (Sisters) and non-vowed women and men known as Associates. Our total vowed membership is less than 100 Sisters and we have a growing number of Associates. The U.K. is the smallest region with less than 30 vowed members. Our ages range from 37 – 101, with most being over 70. We are a registered charity with Charitable Incorporate Organisation (CIO) status. We currently have convents in Nottingham, Leicester, Cleethorpes, Bradford, and London.
This key in-person position is responsible for the financial operations and human resources (HR) management of the UK region in accordance with good practice, governing documents, and legal requirements of the country. With respect to business operations and HR, the Finance Director serves as the main point of contact for the CSJP community and employees of the region.
This position reports to the Congregation Chief Financial Officer and regional Bursar. Under their direction, the Finance Director oversees and reports on the financial health of the UK region to the Board of Trustees. This position ensures that appropriate and effective measures, controls, and procedures are in place. The Finance Director ensures Congregation and regional operational directions are implemented. It is supervised by a line manager designated by the Board of Trustees.
To ensure smooth operations of the region and protection of its digital information, the Finance Director also oversees the IT operations of the region. This position also works closely with the Office Manager, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator, and the Peace through Justice Worker.
