We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

 Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Family support is provided to families in 15 different languages.

About the role

Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They  support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible. This includes providing support in a family’s first language. Several families cared for by Shooting Star speak Gujarati.

Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.

The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:

• Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
• Helping with support groups and family events
• Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
• Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes – specifically Gujrati speaking families.
• Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
• Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
• Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
• Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
• Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.

The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.

The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Once a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. You should have a calm, positive manner, conveying empathy whilst maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for someone who is fluent in Gujarati, who is passionate about supporting children and families.

About the opportunity

We're in a fantastic position to have recently have partnered with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) for an evaluation of our programmes. 

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Manchester.

• The Manchester Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
• The Manchester Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities
 

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
• Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
• Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
• Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

The nature of this role will also require you to demonstrate adaptability, resilience and the ability to cope with some uncertainty. 
 

This position would suit you if you’re looking to develop your experience in the education or charity sectors. Existing experience of working with young people and/or project management in a charity or education setting would be an asset. About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East Rivers Trust's Finance and Operations Team.  We are a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation.  The successful applicant will come from a financial background with a strong understanding of financial principles, an accounting qualification and proficiency in Excel.  They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. 

The role would suit an individual, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.  The role involves liaising and following up with all teams to ensure the data provided is accurate and timely, to support grant applications, payments and audit requirements.

To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, be proactive and have excellent communication skills, following up and advising staff across all teams.  They will need to have a positive attitude, and willingness to assist the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required.  This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week, (on a Thursday), working in the office in Leatherhead.

The Training Coordinator plays a key role in supporting delivery of training for the Award network.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the Coordinator ensures training content is
relevant, accessible, and effectively delivered across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, scheduling, and coordination of the organisation’s training offer to our various operators.
• Coordinate logistics for instructor-led online workshops including setting the schedule, identifying and preparing trainers and Foundation Representatives.
• Ensuring learning related operational procedures are understood and implemented across training.
• Provide administrative support to our Global Training Panel, including communications,
• scheduling, and tracking participation.
• Assist in sharing and promoting training content through established communication channels.
• Collect and compile feedback from training participants to support continuous improvement.
• Upload and maintain training content on the delivery platform in collaboration with the Digital Programmes team.
• Help track and report on training participation, outcomes, and budget utilisation as required.
• Maintain records of training sessions, attendance, and evaluation results.
• Use translation software to maintain and update translated materials as required.
• Use course creation software to maintain, update and create content as required.
• Coordinate training for our Global Training Panel and Operator trainers through the Trainer
• Development pathway.
• Assist with coordinating executive training programmes.
• Build effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and partners to support a culture of learning and capacity development.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of training processes and documentation.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support the success of training initiatives and the broader goals of the organisation.

This year, Brake celebrates 30 years of life-changing work, and we’re looking for a committed and compassionate Caseworker to help us continue making an impact. If you are based in the East Midlands region and want to help people at their most vulnerable moments, this could be the role for you.

Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.

This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 8AM to 6PM. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the East Midlands  region, following Brake’s trauma-informed model of care.
• Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.
• Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans
• Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial aid, or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones
• Liaising with professionals, including police officers, Family Liaison Officers, mental health services, coroners, GPs, and other support organisations.
• Advocating for victims within medical, legal, and social services to ensure their voices are heard.
• Providing support through multiple channels, including in-person, remote calls, video chats, and messaging, depending on service user preferences.
• Completing safeguarding assessments and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead when needed.
• Maintaining accurate case records in compliance with data protection policies.
• Engaging in external clinical supervision to manage personal resilience and well-being.
• Participating in team meetings, training, and professional development to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• A full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Resident in the East Midlands area.
• Experience in frontline support services, preferably involving sudden bereavement or heightened vulnerabilities.
• Strong advocacy and research skills to liaise with multiple organisations on behalf of service users.
• Competency in I.T skills to work remotely.

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) are one of the main partners for the London Borough of Waltham Forest, delivering activities which connect people and greenspace. The successful applicant will work with the London Borough of Waltham Forest representatives, Friends of Parks groups and local people, with the aims of improving nature conservation, health and wellbeing, through social engagement, gentle exercise and connectivity with the outdoors.

TCV are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and experienced person to join our London Health & Education team for this important post. The Project Officer will lead the delivery of three key areas of work in the borough:

1. TCV's Green Gyms - Lead the delivery of weekly nature conservation volunteering sessions for people (with a wide range of abilities), through the TCV Green Gyms at Leyton Jubilee Park (Thursdays) & Lloyd Park (Fridays). The post holder will actively seek new volunteers to attend the TCV Green Gyms, through continual engagement with local social prescribing partners, social media promotion & local advertising of activities. They will also continually recruit and train volunteers to ensure they have the maximum opportunity to develop their skills and experience.
2. Friends of Park support - Support the capacity building & training of the Friends of Parks groups across the borough, which may include anything from organising an external first aid trainer to deliver an event, to you organising & leading a workshop on how to create & manage a wildflower meadow or working to support them on a practical activity. You'll keep the local Friends of Parks group webpages up to date with advertising forthcoming events & updating member's contact details & producing newsletters.
3. Wider events & activities - The post holder will be expected to lead and/or support the delivery of wider activities as required, such as regular family events at Abbott's Park & large family events Love Parks week (currently 8 events during summer months). The Project Officer would also lead corporate volunteering days, likely to take place at the Meridian One Community Garden & Tree Nursery in Enfield.

The post holder will mainly deliver core activities independently, although they'll work closely with the existing colleagues in Waltham Forest, to ensure local people receive the best possible experience. They'll be occasions when there's a need to work extra hours, including evenings & weekends, such as during Love Parks week, which takes place each July & during family events at the community garden (approximately 6 weekend days a year).

The post is full-time for 35 hours per week. The Project Officer will be based in TCV's community garden in Upper Edmonton, Enfield. The community garden has an office from which the post holder will be expected to be based 3 days a week, in order to administer this project. There will be regular travel across Waltham Forest & occasional travel across London, for training & meetings. A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.

To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

You should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others. This is a full-time role.
