Purpose of the job/About the role

Join Dementia UK as a Governance Officer, where you will provide comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality administrative support for risk, compliance, and governance matters.

As part of the Governance, Compliance and Risk team, you will help ensure a robust governance framework is in place across the Charity. You will support the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk in maintaining effective governance processes, policy frameworks, and establishing high levels of corporate governance practices. You will also work under the direction of the Company Secretary on governance matters and administrative support.

Your responsibilities will include attending meetings, ensuring effective record-keeping, and taking accurate minutes when appropriate. This will also involve arranging meetings, collating papers, prioritising diaries, and managing associated tasks.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an administrative role, including the administration of formal meetings and minute-taking. You should have excellent written and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Strong organisational and work management skills, along with the ability to prioritise tasks, are essential.

About the role

This is a new role within Crisis’ People & Culture Team, created so we can plan, develop, and deliver a range of internal learning sessions for staff across the organisation. This will include working with our frontline staff, ensuring they have the skills required to support our members to end their homelessness. This role will also provide administrative support to ensure that all training events run efficiently, and appropriate records are maintained.

You will have experience of collaborating with range of stakeholders to ensure trainings meet the learning and development needs of its audience. Role overview:

This is a hybrid role on a self-employed basis. Travel is required to complete assessment visits to the care units applying to the scheme, please refer to the Flexibility and Expectation section in regard to frequency of travel. 

As a Lead Assessor, you'll play a pivotal role in upholding the integrity of our AP scheme. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive assessment visits to units undergoing evaluation within the scheme. Working hand in hand with service user perspective assessors, you'll monitor all Headway AP core domains during onsite visits.

Key responsibilities:

• Review relevant documentation ahead of onsite visits.
• Collaborate with service user perspective assessors during visits, focusing on core domain monitoring.
• Facilitate post-visit debriefing meetings with assessors to ensure thorough discussion and alignment.
• Maintain open communication channels with the AP Manager to address any assessment-related queries or challenges.
• Prepare detailed assessment reports in collaboration with assessors, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

Flexibility and expectations:

Hourly rate and expenses:

The hourly rate for this role is £20.00. This rate includes time spent on administrative tasks before and after visits, the duration of the visit itself, and travel time. Additionally, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

To provide an example, the estimated time commitment for conducting an accreditation is as follows:

Preparation: 2 hours

Visit: 7 hours

Debrief meeting: 1 hour

Report writing: 8 hours (Please note assessment will need to be completed within 6 weeks from the date of the visit.) 

Travel: We aim to allocate Lead Assessors to units close to their location to minimise travel time, the hourly rate will be reflecting the time travel invoiced . Mileage is reimbursed at £0.40 per mile.

Climb is a Prevention and Early Intervention Service for 10-17 year olds who may vulnerable to criminal exploitation and/or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. We offer 1-1 outreach support and access to positive, diversionary activities within the local area.

This is an exciting role within an expanding service across West Mercia. We are currently looking for an Exploitation Practitioner  to join our dynamic, ambitious team. This role is for people with a passion in supporting vulnerable young people on a 1-1 basis, in raising their aspirations, building their confidence, working together with professionals to ensure the most appropriate, robust and holistic support is offered to meet each individual's needs. Working within the Programme and Business Development Department, you will support the embedding of all climate related activities across Reall’s existing programmes and future work.

The Role

We are seeking an agile, smart, confident individual with a can-do attitude to support Reall’s Climate Advocacy and Green Building Programme. You will work with the Programme Lead to drive the organisation’s capacity to become a thought and practice-leader in climate-smart and affordable homes across Urban Africa and Asia. Acting as an agent of change for the climate, the role will support, enable, and coordinate all climate related activities to help Reall deliver climate-positive work and monitor its impact across its markets.

You will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

• Ability to build and maintain momentum ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met.
• Experience in completing research-based tasks and gathering critical information with the ability to share findings in various written and spoken formats when required
• Understanding of emerging markets or the ability to gain insight and learn about the sustainable cities sector and green affordable housing.
• Excellent coordination, facilitation, planning capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for a wide range of audiences.

Salary – £28,000 - £36,000 per annum dependent on experience

Working hours – Normal office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We are open to flexible working patterns subject to the objectives and outcomes of the role being met. We are currently working hybrid with blended office and homeworking with the ability to work up to three days from home.

Annual Leave – 25 days plus 1 additional day for every year of service, plus an additional day off on your birthday

About the role

This is a great opportunity to work within the Stories team at Shelter, recruiting people from within relevant services and outside the organisation to share their experiences to support Shelter’s fundraising, media, services, campaigning, research and brand work. As well as making contact with people willing to share their stories, you’ll be able to listen to someone’s experience and write a summary of their story. The traineeship lasts 15 months and you will receive personalised training and support to help remove some of the barriers that may have prevented you from getting meaningful employment. Once your traineeship is complete, we will support you in securing further employment in the future.

About you

We are looking for people who have lived experience of homelessness/bad housing and overcoming personal challenges and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. Basic computer skills, e.g. word processing, the internet and email would be useful, but support can be provided. Above all, we need people with a real desire to develop personally and learn new skills.

Pratham is one of the largest and most respected education charities in India. We developed a model that can teach a child to read and do basic maths in as little as 30 days for £14. We also have preschool, vocational and women's education programmes. 

We have strong support from the UK Indian diaspora and are in a period of significant growth that has seen us triple in size in three years; we now raise £1.5m a year and have an ambition to at least triple again. Our flagship fundraising event is our annual Gala; we will return to Raffles at the Old War Office this year on 8th November. The gala sponsorship pack is included with the job pack below. The evening consistently raises over £500k; this year, you will support the delivery of the Gala, but next year, you will lead it along with a calendar of cultivation and stewardship events that will help us grow partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations.

While you will work in a small, fully remote team day to day, you will be part of the global Pratham network. The team in India has over 6,000 staff, and they raise $28m locally. Pratham USA has 14 chapters and produces around 12 galas a year, which contributes to its $30m income; you can share the films and branding of their galas, meaning we can really stretch our budget to put on an outstanding event. 

We are a small team, and whilst an events person is vital for our development if someone wanted to get involved in other fundraising streams, particularly corporate or major donors, we would be delighted to read about it in your application and discuss it at the interview or in a call before the interview—which are welcomed.

All current staff have visited India to see the programmes, and whilst we can't guarantee you a visit as we grow, it remains an ambition. We can offer a level of flexibility on hours, we'd consider someone four days a week, but flexibility and some extra (paid) days might be required around the gala time. Our Executive Director stops for 30 minutes at 3 to pick up his children from school, work patterns that suit you can be considered.

Internal comms (50%)

· Support colleagues from across the organisation to develop communications plans for initiatives and change projects.

· Author or edit stories and content to inspire, motivate and inform our colleagues

· Design and distribute email communications to segments of our staff community

· Maintain and post news and events on our Sharepoint-based intranet

· Support with communications planning and delivery for internal events, webinars and meetings.

· Working with the Internal Comms Lead to continually improve and optimise our internal comms channels, including developing our SharePoint intranet.
