Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.

As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:

· Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support

· Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes

· Raise concerns

· Keep detailed notes and records

· Make a real difference to someone’s life

Hospital Visitor Volunteer

Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate.  The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake. 

As a hospital volunteer, you might:

• hold drop-in sessions
• attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
• share information
• assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

Become an Independent Visitor to be matched one to one with a young person in care. You will meet once or twice a month to take them out to do fun activities together. This is an opportunity for our young people to develop a healthy relationship with a trusted adult, have fun and share their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.

We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff.

Bright Futures UK is looking for compassionate and knowledgeable individuals to mentor young people living with serious illnesses.

What will you be doing?

• Run six mentoring sessions online

• Offer advice and insights related to applying to universities and further education institutions.

• Help the young person understand application processes, for example, UCAS.

• Share your own experiences and knowledge to inspire and motivate.

What are we looking for?

• Expertise in University and College Application Processes: Profound knowledge and experience in advising young people about their futures, with a focus on areas such as writing a personal statement or the university application process.

• Mentoring and Communication: Ability to mentor effectively, offering guidance and support to a young person with clarity and empathy.

• Flexibility and Commitment: Willingness to commit to 6 weeks of 1-hour sessions

We are seeking somebody in the Shrewsbury area or nearby with specialism in drama or performance studies to direct a new musical, The Group. This musical is all about disability and the lives of people with disability in a support group. They would need to be available Sunday afternoons 3:00pm and be able to travel to the Sundorne area of Shrewsbury.

We particularly hope to recruit somebody who is familiar with and sympathetic towards people with autism and other disabilities, who can share our vision and support all our service users to work towards being the best that they can be. This post would also be useful for somebody stuyding a performance related course wanting to gain experience of working on a production, or somebody seeking experience of working with people with Autism or disabilities. 

Rehearsals will initially take place once per week in an evening at our centre at the Impact Studios, Sundorne.  However, this may need to increase nearer the final performance according to availability. They would need to be able to familiarise themselves with and gain an understanding of the content of the musical, and be able to adapt this to the needs and capabilities of our cast and ensemble as necessary.

This is an unpaid position.

We are looking for Client Support Volunteers to assist in the Garden alongside our horticulturists in the supervision of our adult clients and teenagers with a variety of disabilities.

Our volunteers work in the garden with clients, helping them with various tasks such as planting, harvesting, pruning and mowing to name a few, under the guidance of our team of horticulturists. 

As well as general gardening work you will be assisting our clients, both children and adults with the opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture.

Other tasks our volunteers help with include general garden maintenance, DIY tasks or craft/cookery activities.

No gardening experience is required, just the ability to get along with others and muck in! This can be a great stepping stone to further education or work opportunities.

The Role
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of Melanoma UK. Working alongside a team of committed individuals, you will ensure the charity operates effectively, meets its objectives, and upholds the highest standards of governance. 

The Northern Devon Branch are in need of new committee members and specifically a Branch Secretary. 

The committee plan and coordinate various activities for people affected by Parkinson's across a wide area of North Devon. Activities range from exercise to social get togethers, coffee mornings and trips.

Committee members are expected to try and attend monthly meetings in the Bideford area and to contribute to group discussion and decision making. 

The secretary role entails communicating details of planned activities with our members via email or post and providing communication and admin support to the Chair of the branch. Other committee members manage the newsletter, memberships, social media and meeting agenda and minutes so this is not an extensive role but it is important and keeps members up to date with activities and any notices.

You will be volunteering as part of a team for Parkinson's UK and will be supported by a local staff contact and the rest of the committee.

International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) is a UK-registered animal welfare charity dedicated to creating a better future for animals in need.

IAPWA are currently seeking an Adventure Co-ordinator to join their UK team to support their ‘Adventures for Animals’ fundraising initiative.

From helping to create exciting adventures in the UK and overseas to promoting them and supporting trip participants, the Adventure Co-ordinator will be part of a team who are passionate about developing incredible adventures worldwide to make a difference to the lives of animals in need.

Although this is a voluntary role, there are extensive travel benefits available. Please note: the majority of the adventures offered by the charity involve hiking, mountaineering and cycling, among other active pursuits and so all applicants need to be comfortable taking part in these kinds of activities.

About the project 

We are the Guild Church for Workers in the City of London, building a multilingual community where those in often low-paid or precarious occupations are at the heart of our life and leadership.  As part of our support of workers, we provide free beginner English classes every Saturday morning in partnership with English for Action. As these classes have grown, we have provided a homecooked meal for everyone, to share conversation and build community.

• Be familiar with some of the social media platforms and if needed learn how to use others use of various social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram. 

• Good communication skills.

Cord is seeking to appoint two trustees to strengthen our current capacity and ideally bring some complementary skills to the way we govern.

Being a trustee is a valuable role. Together, the Board of Trustees provides the oversight and accountability necessary to ensure that Cord implements its strategy in line with our values, and complies with the requirements of the Charity Commission.  

We do not require trustees to have prior Board experience and are open to seeking trustees with a variety of skills and experiences. At this time, we particularly welcome applications from those with skills/experience in charity fundraising (either public or trusts/major donors or institutional), and legal/charity governance.

We are interested in hearing from individuals who not only share our Christian values but have an active Christian faith. We celebrate difference in all its interpretations, and applications are actively encouraged from individuals from diverse backgrounds, in particular, those who reflect and represent the communities we work in.

Trustees are invited to serve on the Board for a three-year period, at the end of which they are eligible for re-election, up to a maximum of three three-year term limits. Applicants will be based in the UK or be able to commit to in-person UK meetings. Board membership is not a remunerated position, but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Applicants will need to be able to commit their time to four Board meetings (two in-person and two online) and attend three 90 minute online meetings per year in the evenings.
