Main duties of the job

The Charity Director is responsible for driving the purpose and impact of Frimley Health Charity (FHC), ensuring the charity delivers meaningful benefits to patients, staff, and the wider community. Smart Works is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Officer to join our finance team of six at a time of significant growth for the charity.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Operations Manager ensures the effective day-to-day running of The Bridge Homelessness To Hope’s services — including Drop-In Hub and supported accommodation — maintaining safe, high-quality delivery and ensuring that staff and volunteers are supported to provide compassionate and effective support for people experiencing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Management

· Work with the CEO to ensure The Bridge Homelessness To Hope’s mission and values are lived out in practice.

We are seeking an Assistant Archivist to be an integral part of the Archives and Records team at Waddesdon Manor.

This role supports the Head of Archives & Records for Waddesdon, whose objective is to manage a high-quality archive service for all areas of the organisation and members of the Rothschild family, and to embed an efficient and unified records management framework across Waddesdon, the Rothschild Foundation, Waddesdon Estate and the Rothschild Family Office.

What you will do:

The post holder will assist with the provision of a full range of archive services including cataloguing, appraisal, answering enquiries, assisting researchers both onsite and remotely and assisting with digital preservation.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

Archives administrative tasks:

We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

About the role

This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the three days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The team are mostly based in the London office and with one billing team member in Colchester so the post holder may require some occasional travel.

The Role

BASIC is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead our finance function during a period of sustained growth. The Financial Controller will work across Programme teams ensuring strong financial management and reporting to funding partners, maintain strong financial controls, ensure compliance with charity finance regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting to our Directors and Board of Trustees.

The Financial Controller will oversee the small finance team, including line management of a Finance Assistant and management of an external bookkeeper consultant. This team will be responsible for the majority of financial accounting, processing payroll, and accurate bookkeeping, for which the Financial Controller will be ultimately accountable.

The role includes managing restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with funder requirements and programme needs, preparing statutory accounts for external audit, and overseeing payroll processing. This role reports directly to the Executive Director to prepare annual budgets and financial strategy, and works closely with the Board's Financial Development Committee to present its implementation.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting skills, experience in charity finance, and a proven track record of effective financial management of a growing organisation. You should be comfortable both managing a small team and working hands-on when needed, building collaborative relationships across the organisation. You will need to be a multitasker with the ability to work at pace, and be willing to develop the finance function and best practices to enable the organisation to grow further.

• Proven experience in a mid-level to senior finance role, with responsibility for financial accounting and reporting
• Experience managing restricted and unrestricted funds
• Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audit processes

Casual Worker / Bank Staff (Substance Misuse)

We are looking for someone mature, motivated and caring to provide tailored person-centred support to our residents in their recovery journey. If you have a heart to see people overcome substance misuse - to reset, recover, and restore their lives - please join our dynamic team.

You will be providing support to men individually or in a group - men who are overcoming substance abuse issues, helping them to achieve their personal goals in all areas of life (behaviour, health, faith etc.). You will therefore have great inter-personal skills and the ability to implement firm but caring boundaries. In addition, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including updating records, checking leave and visit applications, and managing the Manor during weekends and overnight.

This is a part-time role on zero hours contract, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Customer Services Manager

We are seeking an experienced customer service leader to drive high quality resident-focused services within a values-led housing charity.

Salary: £50,000

Location: Hybrid, Hammersmith London

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week including mandatory office day on Tuesdays

About the Role

As Customer Services Manager, you will lead and develop the charity’s customer services, resident engagement and communications functions. Your work will help deliver the organisation’s mission of providing safe, secure and good quality affordable homes for single women across London.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and managing a team that includes Customer Service Advisors, a Resident Engagement and Resolutions Officer and a Communications Officer, you will ensure services are consistent, resident centred and delivered right first time.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading customer services, resident engagement and communications across the organisation
• Ensuring prompt, high quality responses to all queries related to repairs, estates and tenancy management
• Developing effective systems for complaints handling that reflect the charity’s Complaints Policy and Housing Ombudsman principles
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation, regulatory standards and best practice
• Monitoring contractor performance and holding regular review meetings
• Producing performance reports and using data to identify improvements
• Embedding learning from resident feedback into service design
• Managing budgets, approving invoices and overseeing repair authorisations
• Supporting organisation wide planning as part of the Extended Management Team
• Providing clear leadership, managing performance and encouraging collaboration across teams

About You

You will be an experienced people manager with a passion for delivering excellent customer service. You will bring a proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to lead a team through growth and improvement.

Essential skills and experience include:

• Strong experience in a customer focused management or supervisory role
• Knowledge of responsive repairs or property maintenance
• Experience handling complaints and producing clear written responses
• Strong communication, relationship building and presentation skills
• Competence in MS Office with good analytical and reporting abilities
• Ability to interpret customer insight and performance data to drive service improvements
• A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to equality, diversity and resident wellbeing

A background in social housing is helpful but not essential. A positive attitude, professional curiosity and a commitment to delivering great services are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities

Finance

• Responsible for processing all income in SAGE from various platforms reconciling income to bank statements.
• Responsible for processing monthly/annual journal and accruals
• Responsible for sales invoicing.
• Perform monthly CRM-Accounting software reconciliation.
• Helping to improve finance processes and systems.
• Monthly claim and process monthly Internal Gift Aid claims and reconcile External Gift Aid with Fundraising Team.
• Support Finance Manager with a variety of monthly and quarterly reconciliations and ad-hoc reports
• Oversee customer invoicing and Credit Control.
• Assist the external auditors during their audit fieldwork
• Coordinate financial tasks for Major Fundraising Events (pre and post activities)
• Attend the major Fundraising events
• Acting as point of contact for income related queries
• Support with bank reconciliation,
• Support with preparation of fixed assets register
• Assist in the preparation of VAT returns
