Our London office - registered as Company Limited by Guarantee - covers the UK and also the Republic of Ireland, is looking to hire an Accountant to work as an essential part of our small team. Our annual programme includes a wide range of events such as panel-discussions, workshops and international conferences and requires liaising with a wide range of partner organisations from politics, academia, business, and the media.

The accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial planning for our London office.

Duties include: 

· Control of office expenditure

· Payment of contractor invoices

· Using KAS internal booking system for accounting and financial administration (training will be provided)

· Prepare monthly accounting reports, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets

· Bank reconciliations in GBP & EUR

· Prepare the statutory accounts for the limited company up to trail balance, including accruals, prepayments, deferred income etc.

· Liaise with external auditors to agree timeframe for the year end statutory audit

· Rolling cash flow management

· Manage company payroll in house, expenses and petty cash claims

· Liaising with German HQ on financial topics as well as with local contractors and HMRC

· Companies House secretarial work

· Office management

Requirements:

Candidates must have a permanent right to work in the UK

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in financial management

· Be familiar with current PAYE and pension regulations

· Must have excellent Microsoft Office experience, in particular MS Excel

· Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills

· Excellent communication skills

· Native level fluency in English, German language skills desirable

• Achieve the shops Raffle sales targets through involving the shops team.
• To maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Manage the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary and recording key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in holding and attending Fundraising events to promote the awareness of The Children’s Trust.

The Oxfordshire Homelessness Alliance (the Alliance) is a group of organisations (Local government, A2 Dominion, Aspire, Connection Support, Elmore, Homeless Oxfordshire and St Mungo’s) that came together in 2022 to deliver single homelessness services across the county under one contract.

Services delivered by the Alliance include the city and county outreach services for people experiencing rough sleeping, supported accommodation such as the hostel O’Hanlon House, shared dispersed supported accommodation, and homelessness prevention services.

The Alliance is commissioned through a pooled annual budget of c£3.8m which all District Councils in Oxfordshire, the City Council, the County Council, and the Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire Integrated Care Services, contribute towards. Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City are the lead commissioners of the Alliance. 

As part of the initiative, the Alliance will deliver an ambitious housing led change programme which is seeing services remodelled to support and enable people to live in their own homes and fulfil their aspirations. 

This role is hosted by Connection Support which is part of the Oxfordshire Homelessness Alliance. The role will be guided by the work plan of both the alliance chair and the alliance commissioners.

The impact you will have

As the Oxfordshire Homelessness Alliance Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in making the alliance and the services it delivers a success. You will provide strategic and operational oversight and day to day leadership and management.

You will strive to improve the services that are delivered by working closely with the Alliance Leadership and Management Team, partners, commissioners, and organisations working to put an end to homelessness. Role Requirements

You will play a vital role in coordinating care and supporting the management of the House, serving as a key contact for families and the multidisciplinary team. Collaborating with the House Manager and Placement Managers, you will help ensure that care is effectively planned, resourced, and delivered safely at all times.

You will support the house manager to ensure that the care on house or houses enables the children to access their education and/or rehabilitation sessions, clinics, and leisure activities in their timetable.

You will work as part of a leadership team comprising of a house manager, deputy house manager / deputy clinical lead and a clinical lead (per house) responsible for one or two houses within a rotational model. You will individually (not as a team) rotate at a house level on a twelve-monthly basis.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

The Role 

As Shop Manager at our new shop in Sheffield, initially, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in setting up our new shop, recruiting volunteers, and making plans to ensure the shop is ready to open. You will then ensure the smooth running of the shop long-term. 

You will lead a team of volunteers to raise funds to invest in achieving the charity’s goal to save lives in Yorkshire. Reporting to the Retail Area Manager, you will portray the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity and provide excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers, donors and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire.  

Specifically, you will: 

• Manage and be accountable for implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards. 

• Be responsible for ensuring the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and window displays. 

• Be responsible for attracting and recruiting a team of new volunteers, ensuring they are well trained and take every effort to create a welcoming and happy environment. 

• Be responsible for ongoing volunteer training and engagement, ensuring the volunteer management system is actively kept up to date.

• Line manage the Deputy Shop Manager, working together to ensure there is management cover and sufficient volunteers to operate all trading hours. 

• Ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Be responsible for ensuring accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes. 

• Prepare and complete all shop administration including cash handling and banking functions to the highest standard, accurately and on time, always adhering to charity policy and procedures. 

• Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To ideally be educated to A-level or equivalent.

• To have experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development. 

• To have previous retail experience in the charity sector or commercial sector is desirable. 

• To have experience of meeting and exceeding targets within a retail environment. 

• To be highly organised with good time management skills. 

• To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• The ability or willingness to travel occasionally across the Yorkshire region for training and team meetings.

• Build and maintain high-level relationships between the organisation and government, political stakeholders, and sector influencers to maximise SNE’s influence.
• Represent Schools North East at external events, inquiries, and meetings, speaking with authority on behalf of our members.

Research & Intelligence

• Undertake research where appropriate to inform strategic priorities.
• Interpret and communicate external research to help support strategic priorities and inform policy work.
• Oversee the production of high-quality policy briefings, consultation responses, and position papers.

Campaign Leadership

• Design impactful campaigns that raise the profile of key education issues and strengthen SNE’s role as a thought leader.
• Ensure alignment between policy priorities and marketing/communications activity.

Stakeholder Engagement & Networks

• Develop stakeholder networks, forums, and roundtables to inform policy positions and enhance influence.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor direct reports, setting clear KPIs and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
• Work closely with the Directors, Business, Events and Marketing teams to ensure policy activity supports and enhances core functions.

About Us

Happy Valley Residence is a newly established residential home, based on the outskirts of Telford.

Our home will support young people aged between 11-18 years and provides living accommodation for providing up to 3 service users at any one-time. Our purpose is to offer a wealth of opportunities to enjoy different experiences, develop confidence, independence and social/emotional skills.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to support the Registered Manager in the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the children’s home in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards. This includes staffing, budgeting, safeguarding and compliance. The successful candidate will provide direct supervision and support to senior staff and support workers. This role also involves maintaining professional relationships with social workers, education providers, CAMHS and other multi-agency professionals.

You’ll manage the team at our 24/7 Female Scheme, ensuring that everyone has the right support, training, and tools to work independently and confidently. You’ll make sure that customers receive the right support to maintain their tenancy and develop positive relationships with other customers and the community. Job requirements 

• Oversee the day-to-day management of Concrete’s 24/7 accommodation services, including overseeing building management and security. 

• Lead on recruitment, selection and induction of new staff, making sure each member of staff is supported and trained. 

• Complete regular property inspections, including daily room checks, weekly alarm tests and fire drills. 

• Lead on referrals coming to the scheme, which may include working with external agencies through multi-agency panels. 

• Oversee regular house meetings with residents and staff, making sure that the voice of lived experience is acted on. 

• Make sure that case notes are recorded on the Housing Management System. 

What we’re looking for 

• A degree level qualification, or qualified by experience to an equivalent level. 

• Experience in Housing Management. 

• CIH Member of willingness to work towards it. 

• Strong self-awareness, self-management skills and the ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times. 

• Strong business acumen and commercial awareness. 

• Ability to travel, with a full UK driving license and a car. 

• Willingness to work flexibility, including covering shifts and some evenings and weekends.

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Store Manager to join Barnardo's on a Full Time, Permanent Basis.

As a Store Manager you will manage the day to day running of our Kirkby Stephen Store, leading a team of colleagues to maximise store sales and profits. By doing so you will play a crucial role in raising the funds for the amazing services and support Barnardo's provides for children, young people, parents, and carers across the UK.

Working Pattern: As the store is open 7 days a week, the successful post holder will be required to on a rota basis which will include weekend, evening, and bank holiday working.

Some but not all key responsibilities are:

• Ensuring stock is generated over the door by members of the public and donors sign up to the Gift Aid scheme.
• Ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by Barnardo's is maintained at all times.
• Implement promotions in the Store as directed by Head Office or your Area Business Manager.
• Maintain a high standard of presentation, both in the windows and the interior of the Store.
• Ensure there is adequate stock available on the shop floor, at all times, on all key lines
• Provide training, development, work reviews and appraisals for paid staff to enable them to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively.
• Create an organised and pleasant working environment for staff and volunteers.
• Actively recruit the correct/specified number volunteers to deliver the stores objectives and KPI's.
• Ensure all financial, cash handling and security procedures are adhered to as per the Barnardo's Manager's Manual and the relevant Retail procedures.
• Hold the shop keys, ensuring that the shop is secure whenever it is left unattended.

Idea Candidates Must Haves:

• Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
• Experience of managing people
• Ability to liaise and respond to a variety of people from varying backgrounds.
• Ability to meet the needs of customers on a face-to-face basis, in order to generate sales and increase customer usage of the shop.
• Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply up to four figures in order to maintain budgets and complete accurately weekly income/banking sheets.
• Ability to handle cash and reconcile accurately.
• Proven experience of meeting targets and KPI's.
• Basic IT skills.
