Job description

At Bookmark, our vision is simple yet powerful: we want every child to read. We believe in the transformative power of reading and the impact it has on children’s futures. Our flagship service is a volunteer-led reading programme; volunteers will read with students for two thirty-minute sessions weekly. We currently support over 150 schools with a volunteer network of around 1500 volunteers delivering over 40,000 reading sessions every year. Volunteers are the heart of our mission, helping us deliver our One-to-One Reading Programme.

The Role
As a Volunteer Support Executive, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a positive, rewarding experience for our volunteers while helping us make a real difference in children’s lives. This is an extremely busy and varied role as we help prepare volunteers to deliver impactful sessions and support them in the booking process.

As a Volunteer Support Executive, you will:

  • Support volunteers at every stage of their journey, from application and onboarding to ongoing engagement.
  • Develop a thriving volunteer community, fostering satisfaction, retention, and collaboration.
  • Act as the primary point of contact, providing empathetic and effective support for volunteer inquiries.
  • Manage the recruitment pipeline for high volumes of volunteer applicants, ensuring all processes meet regulatory compliance requirements and uphold high standards of applicant quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing feedback, refining processes, and enhancing the volunteer experience.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure our volunteers are equipped to help children succeed.

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • A natural communicator: Clear, confident, and empathetic in both verbal and written communication.
  • Organised and proactive: Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented: A structured thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Results-driven: Motivated to meet personal and team goals.
  • Adaptable: Flexible and curious with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Data-savvy: Comfortable working with systems like Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and analysing data to inform decisions.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Salesforce or SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding practices.
  • Background in high-volume customer service, recruitment, or call centres.

Why Join Us?
At Bookmark, you’ll be part of a mission-driven team passionate about changing lives. We offer:

  • A flexible, inclusive working environment that values work-life balance.
  • Opportunities to contribute your ideas and make a meaningful impact.
  • A chance to grow professionally while supporting a cause you’re passionate about.
