Farms for City Children offers children and young people a week in the heart of the British countryside staying on one of our farms, where they are immersed in the natural world of food, farming, and country life. During their stay, they participate in the seasonal tasks of the day: sowing, growing and harvesting in our kitchen gardens, caring for livestock and looking after the land, and a variety of tasks designed to build greater connection with the natural world.
About the Role
The Head of Finance is the financial lead for the Charity with responsibility for driving and implementing good charity financial practice, producing robust financial reports and financial forecasts in line with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), as well as providing timely provision of financial information and advice to the Chief Executive and Board to inform strategic decision making.
We are looking for an Interim Head of Finance for an initial fixed period of 6 months, pending the appointment of a new CEO. The interim Head of Finance will support the induction of the new CEO and advise on strategy for the management of the Charity finances beyond the initial 6-month period. The successful candidate will be qualified and experienced in charity finance, demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills and will also have a need at times to be hands on in supporting the routine financial transactions of the organisation.
Alongside the leadership and advisory functions of the role, the Head of Finance is also responsible for the management of the wider Finance team, working closely as a finance business partner with colleagues on the SLT and Farm School Managers, specifically:
- oversee the finance related work at each of our farms through the Farm School Managers and Farm Office Managers; effectively communicating financial information to non-financial audiences at all levels of the charity;
- the continuous improvement of the financial provision, demonstrating best practice and leading on efficiencies in financial management.

The Role

Where You’ll Be Delivering Our Mission
Most of the time, you’ll be based from our brand new Unloc Leeds office space in the city centre, or delivering programmes in Schools and Colleges in the Leeds City Region.
You’ll also be out and about delivering programmes to our partners in other areas across the North of England. Occasionally, you will travel to London or Portsmouth (our HQ) to spend time with other teams. You will likely have more travel in your first three months as part of your induction programme. Of course, any travel costs outside of commuting to/from the Leeds city centre office will be covered, alongside an allowance for meals and accommodation.

Supporting the implementation of the Unloc Leeds Strategy

Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke changemaker events (with support from the Operations and Quality teams) for individual businesses, grant giving bodies, schools & colleges. These will span all four of our programme pillars; youth voice, leadership, entrepreneurship, and careers and employability. This generally involves designing agendas, booking speakers, managing event resources, actively leading individual sessions, briefing event support staff, liaising with key points of contact and managing attendance from multiple schools, colleges and partners.

The role:
- Secure Transformative Partnerships: Build, secure, and develop impactful five and six-figure commercial, Charity of the Year, and strategic corporate partnerships and donations.
- Strategically Drive New Income: Proactively research, engage, and secure partners, delivering new income and non-cash benefits aligned with our corporate partnership strategy.
- Contribute to Financial Strategy: Plan, develop, and report against team budgets and reforecasts.
- Provide Strategic Reporting: Produce accurate and timely reports on pipeline development and account activity, ensuring monthly KPIs are achieved.

The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. We generate new evidence and innovative new ideas to improve the productivity of people and firms, as the key driver of sustainable economic development, and to support our government partners in transitioning to low-carbon growth pathways and protecting vulnerable populations. The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. The Communications Manager (PR, Brand and Publications) will be essential to promoting IGC’s ideas and the use of evidence in policy decision-making at global and national levels. The position will take a leading role in developing and delivering the digital and storytelling strategies for the IGC.

• Responsibility for story development and delivery across activities, including PR and impact.
• Owning and enhancing the IGC brand and visual identity.

The successful applicant will have:

This is a great opportunity to join the unique RCJ Advice - Citizens Advice & Law Centre. We have two court-based offices, at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand, and at the Central Family Court on High Holborn, although we mainly now provide advice by telephone and can therefore support people who are accessing any court in England and Wales.
This new role will take overall responsibility for these two court-based offices and the front-line aspect of these services. The role will manage a team of up to 3 employees, and will recruit volunteers, to deliver the work.

- Providing a high quality first point of contact and initial triage service online, by email, telephone and in-person
- Providing an efficient and well-managed service between clients and in particular our volunteer solicitors
- Taking responsibility for our two offices to ensure they operate practically and safely for staff, volunteers and visiting clients
- Developing more efficient and technology-based solutions as to how to run our front of house and triage service
- Having oversight of data collection at this initial triage stage
