Fundraisers wanted to support East London Waterworks Park in developing and implementing our fundraising strategy.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for fundraisers to contribute to our community-led fundraising strategy, to develop relationships with funders and to write funding applications. 

You would join our fundraising circle, which coordinates our fundraising efforts. It is currently exploring grant opportunities and developing relationships with businesses and other funders. We meet online on Google Meet and volunteers complete agreed tasks remotely. 

If you have experience in writing grants and funding applications, corporate fundraising, philanthropy, or any other aspect of fundraising, it would be great to hear from you. 

We are keen fundraisers but we are lacking professional expertise and experience and we would love your help and input. We would welcome one-off advice on the phone or in person, as well as longer term volunteers. 

We would also love to hear from potential volunteers without experience but with transferable skills.

About Bank.Green

Since the Paris Agreement, global banks have poured a staggering $6.9t into the fossil fuel industry. At Bank.Green, our mission is to lower this vast carbon footprint via technology and consumer action. We empower bank customers with the tools and insights they need to influence their banks towards sustainable lending, or switch to greener alternatives. To date, our bank-checking tool has been used over 500,000 times by bank customers worldwide, while we have shifted a at least $35,000,000 towards banks who are financing a greener future.

Through transparency, engagement, and innovation, we aim to redefine the role of banks in the fight against climate change.

Role Overview

We have a need for a senior Frontend Engineers to take ownership of the Bank.Green frontend website. The website is builtin Vue.js with Nuxt.js and deployed via Cloudflare. We use prismic.io as a headless CMS and connect to internal graphQL and REST APIs. Because of the large number of pages (~5000) we serve, we have to pay special attention to our prismic.io CDN traffic and caching with automated builds.

Taking ownership of the website will mean:

• understanding the vue.js lifecycle
• understanding cloudflare deployment
• understanding the nuxt build pipeline
• carefully authoring and reviewing PRs
• mentoring more junior frontend developers

For internal communication, we use slack, linear.app, and, when necessary, MS365.

Functionally, the website allows users to see how their current bank, and potential new alternative banks, rank on environmental issues - primarily fossil fuel and related sectors support. It also provides suggestions on how to talk to your current or potential future bank about your environmental concerns.

Commitment

This role is unpaid and volunteer-based. We are seeking a commitment of 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to come on long-term, for at least a 6 month commitment.

We know that this a lot to ask. Bank.Green is a passion project of many people including other developers and data scientists. Many of our volunteers who are a) (f)unemployed and want to keep their fingers warm by doing something good for the world, b) otherwise trying to break into tech or environmental fields. We hope that you’re coming with some industry experience for this particular role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Frontend Engineer, preferably in a mid to senior level capacity.
• Proficiency in JavaScript programming language.
• Familiarity with Vue.js + Nuxt is nice to have but experience with React+Next also works well
• Experience working with and mentoring more junior colleagues
• Experience working asynchronously with colleagues in different time zones - through Slack, MS Teams, or similar.
• Experience working in Agile environments and using collaborative development tools (e.g., Linear or Jira, Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities Branding & Strategy: ➜Contribute to a branding and communications strategy aligned with our growth goals. ➜Structure the brand platform: refining tone of voice, visual identity, values, and positioning. ➜Adapt key messages for different target groups (e.g., investors, clients, policy-makers, general public), depending on the channel or objective. ➜Help define our visual and narrative identity across digital channels. ➜Drafting communication guidelines to ensure message consistency across all touchpoints. Content Creation & Design ➜Prepare strategic content for press releases, awards/contests, or partnership decks. ➜Design engaging and professional slides for pitches and presentations. ➜Create branded content (graphics, infographics, short videos) for LinkedIn and Instagram. ➜Develop flyers, one-pagers, newsletters, and other digital materials for partners and stakeholders. Digital & Social Media Marketing: ➜Lead the development and execution of content strategies for LinkedIn and Instagram. ➜Write and schedule posts, stories, and visual content aligned with our mission and values. ➜Plan and implement targeted campaigns to build visibility and engage with our audience. ➜Monitor and optimize content performance using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Ads, etc. Website & Visual Support: ➜Work with our tech and web team to keep the website updated with clear, compelling content. ➜Suggest and implement visual improvements to enhance the user experience. Collaboration: ➜Collaborate with the founding team to align content with milestones, partnerships, and product updates. ➜Bring creative ideas and energy to shape the brand’s tone, presence, and engagement.

Ideal Profile ➜Strong visual storytelling and writing skills (especially for sustainability, tech, or scientific topics) ➜Experience in social media management (especially LinkedIn & Instagram) ➜Skilled with digital tools like Canva, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Meta Ads, etc. ➜Knowledge of sustainability, circular economy, marine or climate topics is a strong plus ➜Bonus: Basic video editing or content animation experience ➜Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment ➜Fluency in English
