The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking a Senior Policy Adviser to join our Public Policy Team. The role is crucial for the development and delivery of evidence-driven British Academy policy programmes in the area of environmental policy and sustainability, using SHAPE research to impact policy outcomes that support the Academy’s and the Policy Directorate’s strategy.

The role

The British Academy’s public policy programmes explore domestic policy challenges that SHAPE research (Social sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy/Environment) can help policymakers to understand, reframe and find solutions to. We work closely with our Fellows, who are some of the world’s leading experts, alongside a diverse community of academics, experts, practitioners and importantly, policymakers. Our approach is focused on drawing together insights from SHAPE research and convening key figures to understand how these can be applied to policymaking. This gives us opportunities to bring fresh thinking to the most challenging issues, reframe debates, and develop new evidence-based solutions.

The Senior Policy Adviser will lead the delivery of evidence-driven Sustainable Futures policy programmes, with an opportunity at the outset to define the scope and strategy of these programmes. The role needs someone with understanding and knowledge of climate, nature and environmental policy from academia, policy or practice. It also needs someone comfortable bringing insights and analysis together and making new connections across policy themes to approach problems from a fresh perspective.

This is a varied role that requires someone ambitious to engage with a wide variety of contributors to bring together the insights from our evidence-base. You will have the ability to plan and deliver different types of activity: convening stakeholders, managing researchers, and collaborating with counterparts in academia and government. You will be proactive and always looking for opportunities, using effective communication and developing or strengthening crucial relationships to extend the reach of your programme. You will often work independently but won’t be on your own – we are a collaborative, supportive and friendly team of 12, working on the basis of mutual trust and responsibility, all working on different but connected areas, striving together to achieve our goals.

The Outward Bound Trust is now delivering its 2030 Strategy, which sets out an ambitious plan to grow reach, strengthen partnerships, and invest in its six heritage outdoor centres. 

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll directly manage four experienced team heads and oversee a high-performing team of 18 who generate bursary, unrestricted, and capital income. The role sits on the Senior Management Team, working closely with colleagues across the charity to connect fundraising with programme delivery, marketing, and business development, ensuring shared priorities and greater collective impact. You’ll also play a key role in the Fundraising and Marcomms Steering Group, ensuring effective working between fundraising and external engagement.

This is a broad, strategic role combining leadership, direction, and hands-on relationship management at one of the UK’s most respected youth charities. As Director of Fundraising, you will:

• Lead and support a multi-disciplinary fundraising function spanning major donors, corporate partnerships, legacies, trusts and foundations, and events

• Develop and implement capital fundraising plans, supporting the upgrade of existing outdoor centres and laying the groundwork for a potential new site acquisition

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Substantial senior-level fundraising experience with demonstrable success in leading multistream teams
• Proven ability to secure and steward six- and seven-figure partnerships and relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporates, and foundations
• Strategic and analytical mindset, confident in planning, budgeting, forecasting, and evaluating performance
• Experience of capital fundraising or large-scale campaigns advantageous
• Credible, empowering leadership style – able to guide senior managers, foster collaboration, and provide clarity of direction
• Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, able to engage confidently with trustees, senior stakeholders, and external partners
• Motivated by The Outward Bound Trust’s mission to break down barriers to opportunity and enable all young people to thrive through outdoor learning

Spoons is a charity dedicated to supporting families through neonatal care. Their sole aim is to facilitate a community where families who have experienced neonatal care, can come together and feel safe in sharing their experiences and supporting one another. The Role

The Fundraising Manager will led on the delivery of a sustainable and diverse fundraising strategy. The main responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering a fundraising strategy and annual income plan.
• Growing sustainable income across all fundraising streams, predominantly Community, Individual Giving, Corporate partnerships and Events.
• Building, nurturing and stewarding supporter relationships.

The Person

We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious individual with a proven track record of delivering fundraising income and a knowledge of a variety of income streams. You should also have an understanding of fundraising regulations, GDPR, and a keenness to keep abreast of fundraising best practice.

Additionally, you should be excellent at building relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You must be organised, driven and resilient, and able to multitask effectively in this varied and interesting role. We are also looking for candidates who are creative with the ability to write compelling communications including social content, campaigns and proposals.

The organisation:
Walsall is situated within the West Midlands and is one of four Local Authorities comprising the Black Country. The successful candidate will have:

• Full membership of CIMA, CCAB or equivalent, with post-qualification experience.
• A strong technical background with proven experience in capital accounting, financial reporting, and risk management.
• Demonstrable experience of managing and developing staff.
• The ability to communicate complex financial information to a wide range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial.
• Experience of treasury, audit or statutory accounts would be advantageous.
• Ideally, a background in the public sector, but this is not essential.

The Role

Arne is not only a brilliant Dorset bird watching spot, it’s also one of the few remaining places where all six of the UK’s native reptiles can be found. Overall purpose

The EEM will support pathways, work placements, recruitment pipelines and workshops by ensuring employer input is actively embedded where relevant.

This is a strategic, hands-on role, the successful candidate will map and cultivate employer relationships, secure employer input into sector pathways, workshops and recruitment initiatives, translate labour market intelligence into programme improvements, and design the operational processes that enable Programmes and Corporate Partnerships to work together effectively. Role Overview: Fundraising Director 

The successful candidate will lead RLS’s income generation through our next phase of development. You’ll oversee our relationships with key funders, individual giving, our approach to major donors and our communications. You’ll work closely with the Management Team and trustees to set and implement fundraising strategy and highlight and manage risk.

• The successful candidate will be required to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate (we cover the cost). A criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to recruitment but should be disclosed on application 
• Have the right to work in the UK. 
• Fluent in English. 
• Have lived experience related to migration and/or experience of and relationships in the migrant justice sector (desirable).
