Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organisation that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects

About Sanata Charitable Trust
The Sanata Charitable Trust is a registered charity and consists of two Trusts, one based in the United Kingdom, the other in Gilgil, Kenya. The purpose of the UK Trust is to generate funds for the development and ongoing costs of the Restart Africa Children’s Centre.
Restart Africa children’s home was established in 2008 in response to the desperate needs of street children in Gilgil who are at serious risk of violence, abuse and starvation. Starting with 6 children, the centre has expanded over the years to a purpose-built home that currently has nearly 100 children in its care. Receiving no government funding, the centre is fully reliant on donations and sponsorship to finance operations. For the children in its care, Restart Africa fosters a loving, safe home, with meals, welfare and education, enabling them to enjoy their childhood and the opportunity to fulfil their potential. When it is time for the young adults to leave the permanent care of Restart, they are equipped with a qualification in their chosen field that will enable them to rejoin Kenyan society and build a success future for themselves. About the Role
The Marketing/Fundraising lead trustee role is being developed as part of our strategy to raise the profile of Restart Africa and diversify donation streams to ensure we grow sustainable financial foundations to underpin the amazing work of the Restart Africa centre.
In addition to this Trustee role, we are also in the process of investing in a Marketing and Communications Executive which is a full time, permanent role based onsite at the Restart Africa centre. The purpose of the role is to generate and publish emotionally engaging, authentic content that meets the needs of the varying stakeholder groups in a timely manner.
Main Trustee responsibilities:
· Provide the Board with strategic guidance for raising the profile of Restart Africa, diversifying donation streams, and addressing the ongoing engagement needs of differing stakeholder groups.
· Offer insights to the Board into advocacy trends, movement-building and changes in the fundraising landscape.
· Support the Marketing and Communications Executive in the development of the brand guidelines and strategy implementation.
· Communicate and coordinate actions required from fellow Trustees to support strategic implementation.
· Evaluate the channel/content performance and advise the Board on the success and challenges of the strategic implementation.
· Oversight of campaigns and marketing communications to ensure legal compliance, appropriate for the target stakeholders and are aligned with the charity’s policies and values.
Time Commitment
· 2 remote Board meetings per annum
· In person AGM, held in September
· Additional time as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role
Skills and Personal Attributes
· Have the enthusiasm, passion and engagement in the charity purpose to commit to delivering the requirements of a voluntary role.

Currently, we are still redesigning ZAKKI fully function product. We are expecting to develop the ZAKKI fully function product in the upcoming years.

The Media & Communications Director will play a pivotal role in developing communication strategies to enhance awareness and recognition of mountain rescue and the teams within the UK, and supporting internal communication to enable effective dissemination of information and news for Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW), supporting 47 active mountain rescue teams across the region. This voluntary position is responsible for devising and implementing a robust plan, working alongside a range of partners and colleagues.
Reporting to the CEO, the person will need to contribute to the MREW’s overall future strategy. There will be a need to understand the MR structure and to have the ability to work as part of the MREW Senior Management Team, and alongside trustees, liaison team, regional structure and local teams.
Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW) is a voluntary organisation that provides mountain rescue services 24/7, 365 days a year, and offers support to communities during other crises. It consists of 47 independent volunteer search and rescue teams that operate across eight geographical areas. The organisation serves as the national body to represent the whole organisation, acting as an advisory body, linking with partner organisations and helping to standardise training and share information.
Objectives
The overarching activities for this role are:
- Development of external communication to a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts and ‘new explorers’ taking an interest in the great outdoors.
- Leadership of a small team plus the wider Media and Communications Network (MCN) of MR volunteers to develop and deliver a Media and Communications Strategy and programme of activity
- Publications and online communications (all social media)
- Website development
- Development of key messages, inc. support to MREW spokespeople (messages, materials and training) to enable effective stakeholder communications.
- Leading and planning for effective reactive communications in challenging situations, including issues management, messaging and spokesperson briefing.
- Liaison with external partners (PR, Magazine Editor, Public Affairs), relevant media and stakeholders, including a process for responding to incoming enquiries and interview requests and a process for planning proactive media activities.
- Development of key messages inc. safety messaging
- The development of effective Internal communications to support knowledge of MREW and to enable consistency of message from the family of Teams.
- Represent MREW at relevant external meetings.

- To develop an approach to the sustainability of the Media and Communications function, including succession planning for key roles and the strengthening of the dispersed network.
We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with a proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion. You will need to demonstrate commitment to the mission and cause of the charity.
Qualifications
- Essential to this role is an awareness of the internal character of MR and the external environment in which it operates, and an ability to identify and anticipate communications priorities.
- Practical experience in a media or communications management role is also desirable, for instance, such as journalism, PR, marketing, or online media.
- An ability to plan proactive media and communications activities and to develop ways of measuring their effectiveness.
- Experience of issues and crisis management, enabling anticipation and support to management and others on the development of plans, messages and position statements.
Additional notes
- To work with the CEO to plan for future activity and to ensure that a planned communications approach is developed.
- To ensure all committee members are treated fairly through MREW Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To work with other national teams to release internal communications, press statements and support campaigns as required.
- This is a voluntary role within MREW, elected annually; it is expected that the applicant will serve a term of 5 years, with a possible extension of a further 5 years if desired.
- Travel during the working day may be required, with occasional absence from home overnight, as meetings with partners, colleagues, and other stakeholders may cover a large geographical area. Out-of-pocket expenses can be reclaimed in line with the MREW Expenses Policy.

This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(iii) Charity Administrator Job List Creation & Release: Utilise the existing job contracts of both your own contract and your fellow 2nd Charity Administrator to create a job list for the next month to be released on the 1st day of the next month. This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(iv) Fundraising & Marketing (F&M) Trustees Job List Creation & Release: Utilise the existing job contracts of the Fundraising & Marketing Trustees as well as their staff that they line manage to create a job list for the next month to be released on the 1st day of the next month. This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(v) Fundraising & Marketing Team Roles, Events, Training & Assessments Calendar Creation + Release: In the later half of the month utilise the job contracts of the Fundraising & Marketing Team as well as events calendars for upcoming Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme, CPD Project, Neurodiversity Awareness Street Clinics, and World Celebration dates for Neurodiversity + Skill Assessments to create a Table for the next month which summarises key roles, events, training & skill assessments to be released on the 1st day of the next month. This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(vi) Charity Administrator Email Monitoring: Keep an eye on the charity administrator inbox and redirect the relevant emails to the appropriate trustee throughout the month. This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(vii) Biannual Trustee Meeting + AGM: In December & June, Minute taking and contributing to the Trustee meetings. There will be round up admin time as well to finish the edits of the minutes post meeting.
(viii) Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme Student Recruitment: Work with the Head Trustee to contact schools via work email to recruit students into the Neurodiversity Youth Adovcate Programmes in either June or July (rotates between both Charity Administrators- one is June, other is July) and September (one will do this in 2026, the other in 2027).
(ix) Scheduled E-mail Task: In September-February Send our Post-16 Neurodiversity Youth Advocate scheduled emails with information of the upcoming week’s session details and MS Teams Link. This is a bi-monthly rotatory role with your fellow charity administrator
(x) Fundraising Work: Locating friends, family and colleagues to crowdfund for the charity in May
