Membership Lead

We’re seeking a passionate and ambitious Membership Lead to drive membership retention and growth.

As a mission-based organisation, we believe businesses have the power to be a force for good. Our members include a range of tea companies, from start-ups to multi-nationals who have joined us to address the complex systemic issues that the tea sector faces. We convene and facilitate collaboration between communities on the ground, our members, businesses, governments, and civil society, enabling us to mobilise our resources and deliver our transformational strategy.

Position: Membership Lead

Location: E2, near Bethnal Green (London). Hybrid, minimum 3 days in the office.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time), Monday to Friday.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience + company benefits.

About the role:

This role will take the lead in seeking out new opportunities for growth across our membership, including acquisition and retention and will be responsible for developing and implementing new initiatives to reach ambitious targets, as well as ensuring our existing members receive an excellent level of customer service.

Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills will be pivotal to this role as will the ability to interact, engage and influence senior stakeholders at all levels. This is a great opportunity to help develop, shape and promote our recently updated membership programme, bringing strong engagement and innovation skills, and experience of piloting and testing new approaches.

The successful candidate will have significant experience working at a manager level in a membership environment and will have experience of running successful acquisition and retention initiatives. They will also be a skilled income/fundraising generator with proven experience in achieving commercial targets, possibly with a previous account management background or experience of a similar B2B membership environment. 

They will be a strong manager with experience of working in a busy and complex environment, managing multiple stakeholders and enquiries, as well as having in depth analytical skills, bringing data to life and providing key insights, which will guide us to make evidence-based decisions and sound judgements across the organisation. 

This dynamic role will combine business development, relationship management, stakeholder engagement and operational oversight to ensure the ETP’s membership base thrives and aligns with our mission. 

Key details:

• Reporting to: Head of Communications & Membership.

• Permanent contract, start date immediate.  

• Hybrid working model with a minimum of three days per week attendance at our London office. 

Key areas of responsibility include:  

• Conduct research to identify and understand potential new member organisations in the tea supply chain. 
• Develop tailored marketing materials, including PowerPoint presentations, one-pagers, and proposals. 
• Represent ETP in meetings with prospective members to articulate the value of joining the partnership. 
• Drive new member onboarding, ensuring a seamless and effective process. 
• Act as the external face of the organisation and as the first point of contact for member queries, providing excellent service and timely responses. 
• Conduct regular check-ins with members to understand their needs and priorities. 
• Collaborate with internal teams to adapt offerings based on member feedback and emerging industry trends. 
• Develop metrics to measure membership engagement and continuously monitor and report on these metrics to senior management and the Board. 
• Lead the implementation, update and oversight of the CRM system to improve member engagement tracking and data management. 
• Oversee data collection processes, including compliance with the organisation’s membership criteria. 
• Support the identification of potential partnerships to bolster fundraising and broader impact. 
• Monitor trends and opportunities in the sector to inform strategic priorities and member engagement. 
• Develop compelling marketing and communication materials tailored to potential members.

About you:

• Approximately 10+ years experience in a Membership role.
• Have the right to work in the UK and reside within a commutable distance to our London office in Bethnal Green.
• Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to positively interact, engage and influence at all organisational levels including with senior management 
• Proven experience of membership acquisition and retention
• Strong understanding of membership organisations 
• Proven experience of successfully pitching new approaches to prospective members 
• Proven experience in B2B sales, ideally within a membership organisation and agricultural supply chains. 
• Excellent presentation, listening and negotiation skills. 
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with fluency in English required and proficiency in additional languages, such as German or Arabic, considered an asset. 
• Proven ability to work independently as a self-starter, demonstrating a dynamic, driven mindset with strong lateral thinking skills to solve problems creatively and effectively with minimal supervision. 
• Strong experience in event management and delivery, including planning, organising, and executing forums, conferences, and other high-profile events. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail. 
• Willingness and ability to travel both within the UK and internationally as required for the role. 
• Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office applications. 
• Experience delivering client-focused solutions to private sector needs within a mission-based organisation. 

Desirable:

• Experience with design tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite. 
• Strong understanding of the issues and dynamics in agricultural supply chains and membership organisations. 
• Account management or similar business experience in the FMCG sector or similar environment.

The Head of Research and Policy is a key role within the Trust, overseeing its programme of policy-focused research on social mobility and educational inequalities. The Trust has published over 300 pieces of research since 1997, including many highly influential reports which have achieved widespread media coverage and attention among policy makers. This is an exciting opportunity to play a meaningful part in effecting change for disadvantaged young people, in a rapidly evolving policy landscape

The role sits within our integrated Communications, Research and Policy team, where we see communications and advocacy working hand in hand with generating robust evidence. As Head you will oversee a small research team producing original research internally, as well as commissioning work from external researchers and organisations. You will develop proposals and design research projects, as well as recommendations for policy and practice.

We are looking for someone with a deep interest in issues of educational equity, social mobility and increasing opportunity. You will combine a commitment to methodologically robust research with a passion for clear, impactful communication of findings and an eye for practical learnings.

Main duties
Research

• Leading the Trust’s portfolio of research, with the Director of Research and Policy, ensuring a regular and varied programme of policy-relevant research, including responsibility for its quality and accuracy.
• Overseeing colleagues and external organisations responsible for individual reports.
• Ensuring that Sutton Trust reports are accessible to practitioners and policy makers; editing and preparing reports for publication.
• Developing new ideas for research in consultation with the Director, as well as other Sutton Trust colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Authoring one or more original data-rich research reports each year, where appropriate
• Managing the day-to-day work of two Research and Policy Managers, including pastoral support. Management of other team members as appropriate, and recruitment where relevant.
• Working with the Development team to identify possible funders and develop fundraising proposals and secure funding for the team’s work.
• Management of the research budget, ensuring value for money.

Policy and impact

• Working with the Director of Research and Policy and colleagues, as well as external experts, to develop credible recommendations and policy proposals that help advance the Trust’s social mobility agenda.
• Working with Communications and Public Affairs team members to develop messaging and content for disseminating and publicising the Trust’s research findings and policy recommendations.
• Working with the Head of Communications and Public Affairs and other colleagues to support the advocacy work of the Trust, including responding to government consultations.
• Undertaking advocacy work, as required, with MPs’ staff, civil servants, special advisers and other policy makers.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from individuals who have:

• Significant experience designing and delivering impactful original research which is robust and policy relevant
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of research methods, particularly quantitative research, and is fluent in data analysis software such as R/SPSS/Stata/Python.

THE ROLE

The full-time Creative Communications and Events Officer works within the Communications team to help inform the public about antisemitism using a variety of media.

You will be joining our small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial staff team based at our office in central London.

The role brings a diverse set of responsibilities and an opportunity to work within a charitable organisation with a strong sense of purpose.

Responsibilities

• You will design graphics across our organisation, from social media posts and placards to pamphlets to pledge cards
• Work with creative colleagues to conceive and implement a variety communications campaigns to raise awareness about antisemitism and educate the public, sometimes at short notice and with tight deadlines
• Provide logistical support for communications projects, including scouting and booking locations, ordering materials, liaising with third parties and conducting internal research
• Plan, script, shoot and edit videos on various topics for different audiences on our numerous social media channels
• Growing our social media presence, including paid campaigns, to maximise reach and engagement
• Play a significant role in podcast production, from researching and booking guests to audio and visual editing
• Strategically planning and executing key events for the organisation throughout the year, ensuring maximum impact
• Design merchandise for our website and oversee the logistical aspect of sales
• Measure and analyse performance and outcomes of campaigns to increase reach and effectiveness

Hospitals need to free up beds by discharging patients who do not need to remain in hospital. Despite the pressures we want discharges to be safe, successful and as painless as possible for patients. We also want to ensure a patient is not readmitted into hospital. 

The Hospital Discharge Community Support Coordinator will match Age UK Lambeth (AUKL) volunteers and partner organisation volunteers to support a patient's discharge. Volunteers could provide support with transport, practical support such as food shopping or completing home safety checks. Upon discharge volunteers may continue supporting patients for up to 4 weeks, providing support in person (at the individual's home or in the community) and over the phone, linking them into support services and helping them access the community to prevent hospital readmission.

What you’ll be doing?

1. Oversee the development of a new, inclusive volunteer programme that offers a range of diverse and challenging volunteer roles to support patients leaving hospital and once settled home. 

2. Work in partnership with the VCS to create 100 volunteering opportunities to support hospital discharge.

3. Using the volunteer platform, Care for Me, track allocated tasks to ensure they’re completed. Monitor volunteer reports to review the support and work delivered under the project.

4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital to ensure appropriate referrals are made into the service.

This role is remote, however regular travel to our HQ in Brough and across the UK is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead external affairs, collaborating with stakeholders to shape policy, advocacy and best practice that removes barriers and expands EO.
• Establish relationships and secure commercial partnerships and sponsorships, generating revenue to support advocacy, events, and sector growth initiatives.
• Engage key stakeholders to co-produce content that positively influence EO practice and policy and amplify the eoa’s voice in public affairs.
• Oversee delivery of an effective content strategy that delivers our commercial objectives and positions the eoa as the leading EO authority.
• Oversee events programmes, ensuring they drive knowledge-sharing, sector development, and commercial sustainability.
• Represent the eoa at industry forums, policy roundtables, and public affairs events, championing the employee ownership model.
• Collaborate with the Director of Membership & Operations to align advocacy efforts with member needs and engagement.

About the role

This new role will be part of our Supporter Engagement team, which includes Special and Challenge Events Fundraising, Community Fundraising, Individual Giving and Supporter Care. Our Special Events programme has expanded significantly in recent years, and we
have ambitious plans as part of our new three-year strategy. As part of this, we organise a diverse range of fundraising events, including a Comedy Night, Garden Party, Sports Quiz, Carol Service and Gala dinner.

Working closely with the Head of Supporter Engagement, the Special Events Officer will play a key role in developing and managing our special events programme. This includes overseeing multiple aspects of event planning and execution, collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to produce high-quality event materials and ensuring that every event runs smoothly. Additionally, you will help manage key relationships and maximise fundraising income.

A key focus of this role will be leading the organisation of our annual Carol Service at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, while also exploring opportunities to develop a new special event that diversifies our income streams and broadens our audience.
You will also stay ahead of industry trends, conducting competitor research and analysis to ensure our events remain innovative, competitive, and appealing to supporters.

Main duties

• Supporting the co-ordination and delivery of our special events programme.
• Manage the core elements of special events delivery such as the co-ordination of auction prizes, guest lists, guest requirements, admin and communications.
• Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to produce event materials including event programmes.
• Support the Philanthropy Officer with the organisation of our annual cultivation event.
• Support the Head of Supporter Engagement to identify opportunities for income growth from special events with the view to develop a new Special event within the portfolio.
• Ensure that appropriate and compliant risk assessment, health and safety procedures, protocols and policies are implemented for all special events.

Key responsibilities

• In conjunction with the Operations Coordinator Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage.

We have two exciting opportunities to work within the growing and ambitious Individual Giving team at Alzheimer’s Society.  These roles are both within the Committed Giving team and are pivotal in helping us to reach our ambitious goal of doubling our income by 2030. 
One role will be responsible for the campaign management of our Big Win Weekly Lottery. The other role will be responsible for the campaign management of our Regular Giving programme. Both roles offer a fantastic opportunity to continue developing your project management and marketing skills on big-budget acquisition campaigns across multiple channels such as TV, face-to-face, print, and digital. 
You will be encouraged to regularly review the performance of your campaigns, taking learnings and making suggestions to push your campaigns to greater heights.  We are a team that loves to try new things, test, learn, and innovate, so you’ll regularly be part of ideation sessions. 
You will have the opportunity to work with many talented and passionate colleagues.  This includes building close relationships with our agency partners to maximise the effectiveness of creative and targeting; working with the data and insight teams to make the right ask to the right supporter, and the Stories team to tell powerful stories from people living with dementia within your campaigns.

Main duties and responsibilities

Communications (30% of work)

• Write and publish short regular newsletters for GRP’s stakeholders, including portfolio donors, wealth adviser partners and donors to operating costs.
• Manage and publish weekly content for GRP’s social media accounts, including LinkedIn and Instagram.
• Manage and curate content for GRP website, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date and maximising opportunities to attract new donors and supporters.
• Coordinate with GRP’s third-party web developer on website maintenance and regularly re-evaluate site structure/functions to maximise its efficacy and usability.

Event planning (30% of work)

• Lead coordinator for in-person and virtual events, in line with events strategy devised by Strategic Relationships Manager.
• Lead event promotion and liaise with venues, speakers, catering, attendees, videographer, graphic designer, etc to ensure events are well-attended and well-run.

Research (20% of work)

• Drive ad-hoc research projects to support GRP’s partnership-building, core fundraising and portfolio selection/assessment efforts.
• Analyse potential sectors and charities for inclusion in GRP’s charity portfolio.
• Identify and research high-quality trust and foundation leads in line with core fundraising strategy.
• Identify and research high-quality leads for wealth adviser or other corporate partnerships.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (20% of work)

• Manage GRP’s new CRM system (Beacon) on behalf of team, ensuring the team uses the CRM system consistently, accurately, and effectively. No prior experience with CRMs required – training will be provided.

This role is a new post within our Fundraising and Communications team and an exciting opportunity to shape a growing area of our work. The successful candidate will have some experience of working on a range of events, ideally challenge and sports fundraising, including tasks such as participant recruitment, tracking income, contributing to supporter journeys and assisting with event day activities.

Doctors of the World UK (DoTW) is part of the global Médecins du Monde (MdM) network, which delivers over 400 projects in more than 70 countries, 6,000 volunteers and 5,000 employees. We deliver both emergency and planned medical support, staying to support people in need of healthcare for the long term. We advocate directly for the rights of everyone to access healthcare, no matter who they are or where they are from.

In the UK, we deliver our own domestic programme supporting people excluded from healthcare in the UK, including people seeking asylum and those who are homeless.
