Job Purpose 

BSR events are a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, offering the very latest in science, innovation, research and cases.  

Our events team deliver the award-winning Annual Conference in a hybrid format to c2500 delegates, plus our Case-based Conference, as well as a programme of celebratory awards.  

This role sits within the Events team which is responsible for delivering BSR’s annual conferences and awards. The team of four includes the Head of Events, Events Manager, Digital Events Manager and the Events Executive, who assists in the planning and delivery of our hybrid and in-person events. You will work on a range of areas including registration, logistics, being the main point of contact for delegates, and liaising with venues and suppliers. This is an exciting role for someone looking to get more exposure to different areas of events and working with multiple stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage the registration process for BSR conferences, including online booking journey, managing CRM/registration systems, end to end customer service and reporting registration data insights.  
• Work with the Events Manager on the delivery of conference programmes and networking events.  
• Lead on event logistics including awards, abstract poster submissions, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation, accommodation, travel arrangements and speaker expenses. 
• Champion BSR’s values by leading on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and accessibility for conferences, working with venues and suppliers to ensure a positive experience for attendees.  
• Support the Events Manager and Business Development Manager with sponsor and exhibition deliverables on areas including registration and posters. 
• Manage event and registration enquiries, providing excellent customer service.  
• Support the Digital Events Manager with online conference integrations and data reporting.  
• Input into our event budgets by monitoring progress and providing financial reporting and reconciliation against income and expenditure. 
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to create digital content to engage our audiences.  
• Support with BSR committee liaison and logistics.  

General 

• Be a core member of the events team by attending and inputting into all planning meetings, venue site visits and delivery of events onsite. 
• Identify and contribute ideas on how to improve processes and ways of working. 
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Events.

Please note: This role will require travel, overnight stays and weekend work, for example at our conferences (6 day stay). As we are a small team you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in cross-departmental projects, lead or contribute to agile sprint working and support wider business needs. Digital Fundraising Growth Manager

This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.

Purpose of Role

The Digital Fundraising Growth Manager will manage our digital paid media planning and delivery, driving audience engagement at all stages of the marketing funnel, specifically with the aim of delivering growth in our supporter base and income.

The post holder will directly oversee all digital paid media activity in line with agreed campaign and year round engagement and fundraising strategies and plans, including but not limited to social media advertising, search marketing, programmatic display, and emerging channels ensuring plans are fully integrated with other engagement and fundraising activity (including owned and earned media across all channels and wider organisational efforts).

Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you will drive digital fundraising performance across a range of campaign and product offers, optimising media spend; creative and supporter journeys using data-driven insights informed by a rapid and robust test and learn methodology to ensure our investments are optimised for performance.

As the Comic Relief’s paid media champion, the post holder will also play a key role in ensuring alignment of media campaigns with integrated web and CRM journeys to deliver consistent and personalised supporter experiences. Proficiency in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is essential, enabling the role to analyse audience behaviour, measure performance, and continuously refine strategies to improve outcomes across the full supporter lifecycle.

Job summary

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. They happen across the UK and around the world, both online and in person. Our events add to the impact of our work in tropical medicine and global health, but also raise funds to allow us to continue our work as a charity.

The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. They should be comfortable liaising with venues for meetings space, developing budgets for events, managing logistical aspects of the events programme and setting up new events online and in person. 

Main responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the meetings and events programme, achieving its financial and other goals and KPIs under the existing strategy
• Overall responsibility for the delivery of the events with a focus on expanding global reach, supporting careers, and improving the financial position
• Manage events from conception to completion - delivering events to the highest standard to meet their objectives of success – quality and cost effectiveness
• Attend the Meetings and Events Committee, optimising meetings including helping set the agendas, leading discussions, writing minutes, liaising with the Chair
• Assist to identify, appoint, and manage Scientific Chairs, Committees, and Sub Committees to secure event speakers, secure attendees and sponsors
• Overall management of the income being delivered from ticket sales, sponsorship and other income streams linked to meetings and events, with support from line manager and CEO
• Responsible for the income and expenditure budgets and monthly reforecasts for our meetings and events, and ensuring accurate financial record keeping
• Support and train colleagues to run meetings and events online.
• Work with the team to develop all event materials – physical and digital
• Work with CEO and Senior Manager to identify sponsors, develop proposals and negotiate income
• Produce comprehensive event briefings for speakers, team, and Board
• Support and attend events, sometimes out of office hours, in and out of the UK
• Evaluate and report on the success of each event and consider areas of improvement
• Ensure up to date event information is publicised on the website and on other RSTMH channels
• Work with the team at RSTMH to develop and implement a marketing plan for events
• Manage all event enquiries, from external and internal stakeholders
• Liaise with and manage relationships with event stakeholders internally and externally, including suppliers, members, committees, Board, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors
• Work with the Membership Manager to maximise the engagement of event attendees in RSTMH’s work, and conversion of events attendees to be members
• Develop processes to ensure we capture all data from events, through our CRM
• Ensure efficient processes exist for ticket sales, paying expenses and invoices and all other aspects of RSTMH meetings and events
• Develop longer-term event strategy for RSTMH
• Document and maintain accurate process and guidance documents for the Meeting and Events role.

Role Purpose

To deliver and develop a high-impact mentoring programme through effective mentor management, community engagement, and high-quality organisation and programme administration around London. This role is vital to achieving the organisation’s goals — including positive outcomes for children, meaningful volunteer engagement, compliance, and sustainable growth.

This role brings a perfect blend of administration and delivery, giving you ample time to see and speak with children and volunteer mentors, seeing up close the transformation the programme makes on children’s lives. 

Core Responsibilities

1. Mentor Management & Support 

• Match at least five children per month with suitable volunteer mentors, aligned with individual needs and programme goals. 
• Manage up to 55 active mentor-mentee pairs, leading the administration cycle and our quality framework. 
• Maintain 100% accurate records and communications in our data management system, Salesforce, ensuring full compliance with internal processes 
• Maintain consistent, high-quality mentor communications, including regular check-ins and reviews, ensuring consistent session attendance. 
• Co-deliver training for new and existing volunteer mentors; support community events and in-person meetups, maintaining 90%+ satisfaction in mentor surveys.

• Maintain strong relationships with referral partners (e.g., schools, community organisations) to ensure a steady referral pipeline and collaborative working and 80% of your schools are retained. 
• Provide updates of the programme to referral partners and share content to internal marketing and schools colleagues to support completing the schools termly impact template 
• Act as a key liaison between mentors and caregivers, supporting clear communication and shared understanding of child development and the programme. 

4. Safeguarding  

• Uphold a strong culture of safeguarding in your work, acting in compliance with our safeguarding policies and procedures at all times. 
• Contribute to TKN safer recruitment processes, attending internal mentor training events to vet prospective mentors. 
• Review and assess weekly delivery session reports from mentors, updating Salesforce as required. 
• Ensure every child participating in the programme experiences a positive ending in line with TKN positive ending guidance. 
• Work collaboratively with DSLs to follow TKN safeguarding processes, escalating where needed

This includes investment to grow the public fundraising team, develop new fundraising products, recruit new supporters, and increase legacy giving through targeted campaigns. 

We are also in the process of developing our new 5-year fundraising strategy, so you will be instrumental in creating an ambitious new plan to develop a diverse and sustainable mass fundraising portfolio, covering the key areas of donor acquisition, retention, and growth, with a focus on maximising our Challenge and Community events portfolio, and increasing Legacy, In Memory and Regular giving.  You will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of products to grow voluntary income, whilst leading a newly expanded and ambitious team. And you will help shape our data strategy, working with the Head of Digital and other colleagues across the organisation to develop our digital fundraising strategy; embed usage of our CRM and ensure GDPR compliance.

Requirements - Skills and Experience

• Demonstrable experience of strategic leadership and oversight of a mass fundraising product portfolio.
• Proven experience of managing an engaging Community and Challenge Events fundraising portfolio.
• Proven experience of driving Legacy and In Memory giving to create a robust long-term pipeline. Experience of successfully developing and implementing legacy marketing strategies.
• Proven experience of applying the principles and techniques of Individual Giving / Direct Marketing within a multichannel, multi-discipline environment to deliver significant returns and supporter satisfaction, especially through supporter recruitment channels. 
• Experience of fully integrating a CRM database as a tool in the day-to-day work and running of a charity. 
• Demonstrable experience of managing a high performing team, focussing on creating a culture where people thrive as individuals and can be their best selves.
• Experience of managing multi-channel media campaigns by utilising print and digital channels including social media and email.

• Up-to-date knowledge of current digital fundraising trends, including social media marketing.
• High Level knowledge of Salesforce CRM databases and how best to utilise to steward supporters.

The LSO is actively expanding its digital offer through the work of LSO Live, Discovery and Marketing and is running a Digital Asset Management project to provide greater access to its digital content assets across the organisation and in commercial, non-commercial and academic contexts.
