The Ripple Pond is a charity that supports adult family members of physically and/or psychologically injured British Armed Forces personnel and veterans. Many of these individuals and family members are hard to reach and often isolated.

Your role will be to ensure that more and more of the military community, professionals and other interested parties know who we are and how to access our support.

You will also help to organise our exciting programme of online talks and activities for our Members (service-users) to help ensure they are well-informed, involved and feel part of a supportive community. Making sure that Members are always involved in generating ideas and production.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and determined, but you also need to be invested in our mission as a charity and care about people.

This role is about;

• working with a wide range of groups and individuals to help raise awareness of the charity and to create opportunities to identify new Members (service users);

• being responsible for networking, identifying, and establishing partnerships with key individuals and organisations and nurturing existing relationships;

• developing and rolling out strategies to engage with hard-to-reach and isolated military carers and families;

• coordinating a range of activities (mainly online) to deliver information to Members, potential Members, referrers, and other stakeholders. These will include online talks from staff, Members and other “subject matter experts”; and

• helping to ensure the charity continues to understand the developing needs of its Members.

Although the role is home-based, you will not be working in isolation; you will be supported by the managers and workforce.

All our staff are home-based, and we maintain a strong caring culture of teamwork, mutual support and promoting wellbeing at work.

You may be exposed to traumatic narratives from our Membership, for many this is a reality in their lives. We do provide an extensive framework of clinical and managerial support but you do need to be an emotionally and psychologically resilient individual.

Duties and responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

EVAW’s communications officer will help inform the public and media stakeholders about violence against women and girls (VAWG), influence narratives about this abuse and inspire change.

Responsibilities include growing our online presence and media profile, creating engaging (audio)visual content and writing accessible and informative press releases, web pieces, social media posts and more.

The postholder will have an eye for design and a finger on the pulse of current trends, with strong written skills, a commitment to accessibility, and an understanding of social change and the UK’s media landscape.

You are likely to have some experience in a communications, media or campaigns context, working on VAWG or another human rights/equalities issue, and will be seeking an opportunity to work in a highly impactful, agile and dynamic feminist organisation.

The role is accountable for handling media enquiries; checking and responding to the press inbox; media monitoring and securing press coverage. The Press Officer will assist with media work through print, online and broadcast news to help build understanding, awareness and consideration of the organisation’s mission and goal. The Press Officer will support and advise colleagues, food banks in the network and external stakeholders to ensure they receive media coverage of strategically important projects.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. About the Role

WISH2 is one of three components of the FCDO-funded WISH Dividend programme, which follows on from the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme (August 2018 - March 2024). It will be implemented alongside two other components, which will focus on 1. Policy and Systems, i.e. a demand-led, flexible technical assistance programme on SRHR and Demographic Transition and 2. Evidence and Learning, i.e. a Third Party Monitoring and verification, evaluation and learning support. As for WISH 2, it will aim to support targeted countries on comprehensive SRHR including support for service delivery and technical assistance, and will be implemented through two consortium structures, called Lots. MSI-led Lot 1 will focus on West and Central Africa (namely in DRC, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Mauritania) and IPPF-led Lot 2 on East and Southern Africa. Lot 1 consortium partners will be MSI, Ipas, Options, Sightsavers, RAES and WILDAF-AO. The programme should start in May/ June 2024 and last 60 months.

As a core member of MSI’s WISH2 Lot 1 Management Team, the Project & Communications Officer (PCO) will contribute to the fulfilment of the MSI-led consortium’s mission under the programme, taking responsibility for providing administrative support and ensuring good communication about the project with external and internal stakeholders, to ensure the smooth implementation of the project -

• Contract management, including compliance, and due diligence;
• Administrative support to the management team, coordination of all WISH 2 Lot 1 Management Team meetings and consortium meetings to ensure strong collaboration, communication and learning through meetings, workshops, country visits, etc;

• Demonstrable experience in a communications or grant management role, ideally in an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) or well acknowledged non-governmental organisation (NGO)
• Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders across organisations and across countries
• Experience in supporting the development and implementation of communications and visibility strategies
• Experience creating a wide range of communication products (PPTs, videos, factsheets etc) targeting identified relevant audiences

About this role:  

This is a key role working with teams from across Teenage Cancer Trust to shape our digital content strategy. By collaborating with colleagues and demonstrating a deep understanding of our audiences you will manage a small team of social media and digital content creators to amplify the voices of the young people we support, advocate for change and engage and develop supporters to ensure that young people with cancer have the best treatment, care and support, so that cancer doesn’t stop them from living their lives.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Working collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation you will be responsible for the strategic planning of Teenage Cancer Trust owned and shared editorial content across all digital platforms.
• You will be working closely with colleagues from our marketing and digital products teams to identify and analyse relevant data to inform an agile content strategy that elevates the voices of young people and engages our supporters 

• Considering the role content plays in supporter journeys, and working closely with marketing team to build these journeys 
• Work closely with the supporter journeys team and digital content executive to develop successful email stewardship programmes using an ESP 
• Liaising with colleagues from across our services teams, including the clinical information lead, to ensure our online content is servicing the needs of young people, utilising quantitative and qualitative data to inform content strategy 
• Researching audience trends and ensuring that our digital content creation and curation plans align with audience needs. Providing a deep understanding of our audiences and how we grow our digital platforms to provide the best possible experience for these 
• Ensuring storytelling opportunities are integrated and maximised across the platforms that are most important to our audiences.
• Working with the Digital Experience Manager and Clinical Information Lead, develop exceptional search friendly content based on user search volume and developing the charity’s keyword research to drive growth across our digital products 
• Developing your team and advocating for digital content widely across the organisation to foster a culture of curiosity and innovation around digital storytelling 
• Providing advice to colleagues across the organisation on how to leverage digital platforms to achieve their desired outcomes to support Teenage Cancer Trust.

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Dystonia UK to recruit a Communications Officer to join their small and growing team. A charity supports people living with dystonia; an often debilitating and painful disorder that is lifelong and is estimated to affect around 100,000 people in the UK, Dystonia UK is a lifeline for many. In addition to running vital support groups, this small but mighty organisation actively lobbies on behalf of patients and runs national awareness campaigns to help increase understanding of a condition that can be hugely debilitating.

The organisation is expanding and is looking for a talented Communications Officer to work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in a role that will be busy, hands on, and key to communicating the amazing and important work this organisation undertakes to its audiences.

Key responsibilities within the Communications Officer role will include:

• Writing engaging copy for a variety of mediums including both printed and digital
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications in creating and designing digital and print collateral for campaigns and events
• Lead on the design and publication of high-quality digital and print information about Dystonia UK, its services, projects, and about dystonia, the condition, and medical services.
• Work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications to identify and communicate key news items and be responsible for the production and dissemination of the e-marketing
• Manage Dystonia UK's social media channels on a day-to-day basis ensuring all activity is in line with the charity's brand and communication strategy and work closely with the Directors to produce and develop the social media content schedule
• Engage directly with the organisations community by drafting private messages, replying to comments, and passing actions on to other members of staff where required.
• Creating and adapting content for each channel to maximise reach and engagement.
• Work with colleagues to provide event support by creating content to promote the event, liaising with speakers and partner organisations, and attending conferences and events where required
• Plan and organise activities to raise awareness of Dystonia UK, tying in with other notable calendar events such as Dystonia Awareness Month
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications to ensure that the organisation's branding is upheld in all aspects of external communication.

Dystonia UK is a small charity, and this is a busy role where someone with some communications experience will have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic Director to really develop their skills and expertise both operationally and strategically. You'll be in a position of responsibility and will be able to work autonomously whilst also working with closely with and being supported to learn.
