Responsibilities of our National Media Officer:
- research, write, and sell in stories, features, interviews, and images to media to meet team’s objectives
- identify and maximise opportunities in the news agenda to promote our charity’s work in the national media
- produce compelling and newsworthy stories to support wider campaigns, ensuring maximum press coverage
- share responsibility for the delivery of a planned, comprehensive programme of PR activity
- play a lead role in handling national reputational issues
- respond to media enquiries with factually correct and on- message responses
About the Media team:
Our media team is responsible for securing proactive and reactive press coverage for Cats Protection, ensuring more people are aware of our work. Our team protects and enhances the charity’s reputation and works across cat welfare, services, advocacy, campaigns, and income generation.
What we’re looking for in our National Media Officer:
- CIPR or equivalent professional qualification, or working towards
- experience in a press office or journalism environment
- experience working with national media contacts including news agencies
- experience of handling national reputation issues
- ability to draft reactive statements, Q&A documents and write campaign evaluation reports
- creative and organised, good people skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills

Main duties
Media relations
- Work with the Head of Communications and Campaigns to develop and deliver a proactive PR strategy to increase the reach of the charity.
- Develop PR materials including press releases, pitch angles, interview briefs, and media lists.
- Coordinate accurate and timely responses to inbound media enquiries, liaising with journalists and spokespeople.
- Work on media opportunities for our high-profile ambassadors.

About the team
The Social Media Team consists of 5 roles, working across Shelter to manage our social media output and serve our comms, fundraising, retail, and services’ functions. Within the team we cover content, community management, reporting, training, and influencer outreach.

About the role
This is a critical role that will work with the newly created Head of Media and Strategic Communications to help deliver an ambitious media strategy, which aims to help secure policy change, improve public attitudes and strengthen our new brand.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and deliver proactive media strategies to support fundraising, services, and policy work, securing coverage to engage target audiences and build the brand profile.
- Be a key member of a high-performing press office by building journalist relationships, handling media requests, drafting press materials, and supervising media volunteers.
- Monitor media coverage, maintain mailing lists, and distribute materials.
- Work with the Senior Stories and Content Officer to find compelling case studies and support refugees to share their stories.
- Produce social media content to inform and engage key audiences.
- Devise marketing plans to support services, influencing work, and brand building.
- Plan, produce, and review marketing and fundraising materials, ensuring quality, accuracy, and alignment with brand guidelines.
About you
You will have extensive experience in media and communications, having worked in a busy press office or PR agency. You are skilled at distilling complex issues into clear, consistent messaging for external audiences and have a proven track record of implementing media strategies across both traditional and digital platforms.

About the Role
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Peace Education Assistant to support the delivery and promotion of CND’s Peace Education work. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about peace education, disarmament, and working in schools.
You’ll assist with the development and marketing of educational materials, manage digital communications, deliver workshops, and support the wider Peace Education programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote CND's Peace Education services and resources to schools and educators.

- Deliver workshops in schools, primarily in London and the South East, with occasional national travel.

Additional Information

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of External Affairs to lead a high-performing team and drive our external engagement strategy. This is a pivotal role in a respected medical charity, where your work will directly support doctors and improve patient outcomes.
The Head of External Affairs will lead a talented team of experts with focus on building the RCR’s influence, authority and impact across government and the health sector. Bringing together policy, public affairs, campaigns, AI, census and insight and media, the external affairs team will drive the agenda for change in our key policy areas, ensuring that our positions on workforce, cancer, AI and more are heard and listened to by decision makers; that the RCR is seen as the authority on all things radiology and oncology; and that our positions are clear and unequivocal.
What you’ll do:
- Policy – Lead the development of evidence-based, clinically informed policy outputs that influence change through public affairs, media, and stakeholder engagement.
- Census and Insight – Oversee the delivery of impactful Censuses and ensure all external affairs work is grounded in robust data, insight, and real-world case studies.
- Public Affairs – Drive strategic engagement with parliamentary stakeholders and build partnerships to amplify the RCR’s influence on key health policy issues.
- Press and Media Relations – Secure high-profile, targeted media coverage aligned with RCR priorities; support Officers as expert spokespeople and foster strong media relationships.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Build and maintain influential relationships across the health sector, government, and within the RCR to extend reach and impact.
- AI Strategy – Secure the RCR’s place as a leading organisation in the healthcare space by driving the development of expert thought leadership, impactful programmes of work and a solid AI strategy for the College
- Leadership and Management – Manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team across data and insight, policy, public affairs, media and AI, ensuring strategic alignment and high performance.

Thrombosis UK is a small but impactful health charity focused on raising awareness, funding research, and supporting education around venous thromboembolism (VTE). With a team of just three staff and a dedicated Board, we are entering a transitional period and are seeking an Interim CEO to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and provide hands-on leadership while we recruit a permanent CEO.
This is a practical, sleeves-rolled-up role ideal for someone who is comfortable managing a small charity and supporting both strategy and admin.
