The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising and income generation

• Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
• Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
• Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
• Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
• Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
• Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
• Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.
• Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
• Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
• Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
• Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.
• Contribute to the successful performance of the Senior Management Team, and provide expert advice to them, as well as to Trustees, on all public affairs-related activities and in the implementation of the broader strategy, engaging with decisions and challenges across the organisation.
• Oversee the running of our Public Affairs Committee (PAC), leveraging their skills, expertise and influence for the good of Impetus.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will support key stakeholders through detailed reporting, insightful analysis, and actionable financial insights. In this role, you’ll provide strategic recommendations on critical financial decisions, ensuring that finance is central to decision-making at LSBU.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Following the agreed process, conduct the annual budget setting process for the partnered units.
• Deliver finance business partnering services, including: budget setting, business case review, aiding comprehension of financial reports, financial approver maintenance, monthly forecasting, and providing advice and insight to budget holders.
• Provide ad hoc analysis to stakeholders in the partnered units.  This will often include a combination of financial and non-financial data to deliver information that improves decision making and planning.
• Following the agreed timetable, produce accurate monthly forecasts for the partnered units.  Follow consistent processes and templates, and engage constructively with efforts to improve the efficiency of those processes.
• For the partnered units, maintain an accurate record of financial approvers on the finance system.  This includes making any necessary changes, and regularly monitoring the financial approvers to ensure they are correct.
• Review, and seek regular feedback from stakeholders on, the usefulness of the suite of financial reports available to budget holders.  Pass feedback to the Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering and the Head of Financial Reporting & Analysis.
• Using the suite of training materials developed by senior members of the team, deliver regular training to budget holders in the partnered units.

Finance Lead – Fundraising & Communications, Advocacy and Activism

About the Role

As part of our collaborative Finance Business Partnering team, you’ll support fundraising, communications, advocacy, and activism across Mencap. You’ll provide clear financial advice, insightful analysis, and strong financial management to ensure our fundraising income is used effectively to benefit people with learning disabilities.

Over the next five years Mencap have big ambitions to significantly grow our fundraising income and increase our influencing and campaigning impact to ensure people with a learning disability can live life to the full.

This role is a full time permanent position. There is flexibility around where the role is based. We have large offices in London and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK.

You will need to travel occasionally for meetings. However, this role will primarily be working remotely.

 

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with directorate teams to create robust budgets and forecasts, offering support and advice for realistic financial planning.
• Providing clear financial reports and analysis to help teams understand results, spot emerging issues, and make informed decisions.
• Supporting complex income forecasting (e.g. legacies), using scenario analysis to guide planning and assess risk.
• Delivering financial analysis and modelling to support investment decisions.
• Ensuring funding applications and management of restricted funds are accurate and compliant.
• Improving finance processes and reporting, including with our new Salesforce fundraising CRM system.
• Acting as key contact for external auditors and funders regarding fundraising financials.
• Ensuring accounting and financial compliance with Charity SORP and other relevant regulations.
• Managing and coaching an FBP team member, supporting their development.

 What You’ll Bring

• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or equivalent).

Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager. As part of the Grant Partnerships Team you will play a lead role in collaborative and ambitious partnerships between corporates and OnSide that give opportunities to young people.

Position: Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager

Location: Hybrid working: Two days a week in the London office (White City), combined with home-working and travel across the Youth Zone network as required

Salary: £50,000–£55,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working available)

Contract: Permanent

About Woman's Trust

The charity, established almost thirty years ago to meet the gap in specialist mental health services, is led by and for women and aims to ensure that women affected by domestic abuse can live a life free from further harm and abuse. Our approach is trauma-informed and person-centred, empowering survivors on their journey to recovery from the trauma. We supported 833 women and children last year, with a current income target of £1.25m (growing to £1.4m in 2026-2027) and 36 staff. You will be joining the Woman’s Trust Fundraising team as we work towards our strategy 2022-2027, to double our income and the number of women we support each year. Alongside delivering our existing 1-1 counselling, self-development workshops and therapeutic support groups for women who have experienced domestic abuse, we are focused on developing our innovative mental health services for young women and girls, delivering new peer-led support groups and providing therapeutic groups to children and their mothers. Furnishing Futures is an innovative charity creating fully furnished, healing homes for survivors of domestic abuse who have been rehoused in empty social housing. We do this by partnering with the interiors industry, which donates high quality furniture and homeware that could otherwise end up in landfill.

As this is a new position, and will result in changes to our ways of working, the Head of Project and Strategic Planning will also be required to play a leading role in supporting and enabling organisational change, ensuring there is a clear understanding of change impacts associated with projects and programmes, strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills are applied, and clear transparent communication of the roadmap, including risks and benefits, is shared to bring people on the journey and enable us to embed best practice methodology.

Job purpose
The Place-based Food Systems Manager will play a leading role in the development of The Food Foundation’s local policy and project work in 3 interconnected ways:

local authorities, policymakers and businesses. You will work closely with academic partners on UKRI funded research projects that support place-based interventions and local authorities in creating healthier more sustainable local food systems.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in our nationally focused policy and advocacy on healthy and sustainable diets, supporting a team working on public sector procurement, production (horticulture) and other food policy areas that intersect health, sustainability and climate. This is a key role working alongside our Senior Programme Manager and Senior Race Equity Specialist to shape our ways of working, to enable more and more ethnic diverse people to act for nature.

You will have 2 main areas of responsibility:

1. Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Strategy, vision and leadership

Role Purpose

We’re looking for a flexible and self-motivated Project Assistant to join our team in Newcastle, supporting the delivery of our Home from Hospital and Community Support project.

Preventing admissions, and re-admissions, to hospital is crucial for the NHS. Re-admissions alone cost the NHS over £2 billion per year, and no-one wants to be in hospital when they can be recovering safely and comfortably at home. The Home from Hospital project was developed to help enable people to thrive back at home, and in the community, while at the same time supporting the NHS.

We recruit, train, support and coordinate volunteers, who provide a “little bit of help” to people who may be socially isolated, have health issues, or don’t have many people around them.

Our volunteers provide social, emotional or practical support, completing short-term tasks for up to 6 weeks. This includes tasks such as helping with grocery shopping, collecting and delivering medical prescriptions, in person or telephone check in’s, driving someone to an appointment, helping with paperwork, ensuring the home is safe and secure, and lots more!

As our Project Assistant, you will:

· Work closely with Volunteering Matters colleagues in a flexible and agile way, taking instruction and responding quickly to ensure beneficiaries and volunteers have the best possible experience

· Face to face and telephone contact with older people taking part in the project, completing practical, social, or wellbeing tasks to meet their individual needs

· Administrative tasks including providing updates to colleagues on project activities, processing paperwork, and other computer-based tasks to help ensure the smooth delivery of the programme

· Support with the promotion of the project across Newcastle in order to attract new volunteers and generate referrals – this may include drafting content, public speaking and giving presentations
