Role
 
You will be responsible for providing HR advice and managing an effective HR support and administrative service. The post holder will manage processing transactional matters on a full range of generalist HR issues
 
Duties

• To provide team members, managers, employees and human resources colleagues with advice on the implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with policies & employment legislation.
• Advise on workers on right to work and vetting and barring requirements relating to employment and oversee appropriate actions are taken including submission of certification of sponsorship applications and vetting and barring application
• Oversee the production of human resources contractual information and data onto the HR and Payroll system
• Oversee the recruitment and new starter process for non-advertised posts ensuring accurate and timely pre-employment checks are completed
• Working with the other HR Advisor to manage the workload and performance of the Human Resources Operations team on a day-to-day basis
• To undertake performance development reviews and training and development for the team
• Work with colleagues to develop human resources policies and procedures
• To advise managers on employee relations matters escalating to the Human Resources Business Partner as applicable

About the role

We are delighted to have received three-year funding from the Aviva Foundation to fund this brand-new Grants Officer role based in London.

You’ll be part of our Programmes team supporting kinship carers in London to access grants which will help reduce financial stress. This could be grants to buy things like white goods and uniforms or accessing Buttle grants to support children growing up in kinship care.

As Grants Officer you’ll talk to kinship carers, discuss their needs, their priorities and then write charitable grant applications on their and their family’s behalf. 

You will oversee and deliver the grants process, including co-ordinating the purchase of items (such as children’s clothes, beds or washing machines), collecting receipts for items as required by the funders and liaising with all teams to ensure timely receipt of funds within the charity and to the kinship carers.

Building relationships with funders is core, sharing the impact of the grants and insight about the lives of kinship families in London. You’ll work closely with Programmes, Peer Support, Training and Advice colleagues who work with kinship families in London.

You will also create and run online and face-to-face workshops and clinics, helping kinship carers to understand how to apply for other grants, thereby encouraging resilience and confidence to apply for grants themselves.

You will be a proactive and persuasive relationship builder, able to create partnerships with a range of organisations and peer support groups that support kinship families.

You’ll build trusting and respectful relationships with kinship carers who you will work one-to-one with in community settings. And you’ll build relationships with a range of grant giving organisations across London.

• Delivering our new grants service across London.

• Working with kinship carers and their families across London to gather information to complete and submit grant applications.
• Administering grants we secure for our kinship carers and carry out all the necessary administration related to grants.
• Undertaking research to identify funders and build excellent relationships with local grant making charities in order to increase support for kinship families.
• Delivering grant workshops at peer support groups sharing information about locally available grants and providing advice and support on making a successful application.
• Running face-to-face grant clinics within peer support groups or community venues in London, working directly with kinship carers to write and submit requests for grants.

Essential criteria includes:

• Experience of speaking to vulnerable people on the telephone, face-to-face and online, and gathering information with empathy and understanding.
• Experience of working with socially excluded or marginalised people and their families in face-to-face and community settings.
• Experience of running online and face-to-face workshops. 
• An understanding of budgeting, managing money, income and expenditure.
• Proven understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
• Evidence of awareness of safeguarding issues and good practice. 
• Experience of organising and prioritising a busy workload without close supervision.
• Proven clear understanding of the need to keep grants records and communication with kinship carers and funders up to date.
• Excellent research and writing skills.

This part-time role is an enhancement to the existing One-Stop-Shop (OSS) with a specific focus on families, which brings together a range of organisations to work together in one location to offer advice and services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Currently the service operates 1 -2 day per week, offering specialist multi-agency support and with this enhancement of provision, this will enable an increase in the days the OSS is open and available, including the OSS Co-ordinator also being based in a greater variety of locations such as family hubs.

The One Stop Shop Coordinator will coordinate a range of organisations e.g. solicitors, housing, by-and-for organisations, DWP to work together in one location to offer advice and support service to victim survivors of domestic abuse. Their interaction with families will include being the first point of contact for families when they are entering the OSS, advising mothers of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and direct them to the most appropriate service and, proactively assessing the needs and safety of children and women to ensure that any risks/needs identified are addressed.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the One Stop Shop Co-ordinator you will need the below experience and skills:

A thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.

Knowledge and understanding of the needs of women and children who are or have experienced domestic abuse and the practical and emotional support needs specific to this group including, education, confidence and relationship building.

Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a

range of stakeholders as well as experience of working within in multi-agency environment.

The ability to build and maintain a welcoming and safe environment where women, young people and community representatives can access support and make new connections.

Ability to develop and implement efficient administration processes for the smooth running of the OSS.

We are looking for a Finance Manager with experience in contract negotiation to join our  Senior Management Team (SMT) for two days a week.  We have a track record in successful grant applications and are looking to generate income from the delivery of services.

We want to find someone who can use their financial and analytical skills to support our SMT in growing our Charity to support residents in Lambeth. The postholder will be supported by our Finance Officer in delivering our finance operations.

Role Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career development professional to devise and manage an ambitious fundraising and engagement strategy for regular and annual donors thus helping to create a sustainable culture of philanthropy at Eton. 

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be responsible for the execution and management of a comprehensive regular and annual giving programme, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of donor relations, development services and stewardship. 

As a crucial and integral part of the College’s development team, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be an innovative and skilled development professional with demonstrable experience of best practice in regular and annual giving techniques.

Main Duties

• Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director of Communications, Engagement and Development to create and implement a highly ambitious and sustainable regular and annual giving strategy in support of the College’s short, medium, and long-term vision.  
• Be responsible for the day-to-day management of regular and annual giving activities.
• Prepare and manage detailed plans for the execution of appeals including digital, direct mail and/or personal solicitations.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure rigorous gift management administrations systems and accurate maintenance of prospect data.
• Manage follow-up action when pledges and gifts are received including ensuring that supporters are appropriately recognised and stewarded.
• Conduct data analysis to understand donor behaviour and prevailing themes and trends and develop data driven annual giving strategies.
• Support fundraising strategy through the implementation of strong support systems, and day-to-day administrative practices. 
• Ensure all fundraising activities undertaken in support of the College are performed to the highest standards and in accordance with best practice as established by professional bodies such as CASE, IDPE and the Institute for Fundraising. 
• Ensure that all activities comply fully with the relevant Data Protection and any other legislation in the UK and overseas.
• Work with external stakeholders, volunteers, and other supporters to maximise their relationships and networks. 
• Produce timely, relevant, and accurate reports on progress and projections on all development activities. 
• Maintain knowledge of best practice in fundraising and related matters, refreshing skills as necessary 
• Carry out other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Director of Development and Executive Director of Communications, Engagement and Development. 
• Support the delivery of the College’s charitable vision, by attending events and presentations and acting as a strong ambassador for Eton.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrable fundraising experience in a philanthropic role;
• Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful fundraising strategies;
• Proven experience in database entry, analysis, reporting, and some project management;
• Proven experience and proficiency in donor database formats; knowledge of ThankQ/Access Charity CRM a plus;
• Proven experience with donor engagement and volunteer management;
• Ability to assess donor data and segment appropriately;
• Ability to interact with donors;
• Ability to initiate projects, be flexible, and work independently;
• Ability to prioritize appropriately when facing multiple responsibilities and tasks;
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral;
• Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to details;
• Excellent IT knowledge and skills;
• A collaborative spirit and strong team ethic;
• High levels of commercial awareness, tact, and discretion;

Working Pattern

• Your working hours will be 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Spectra CIC delivers peer to peer counselling services across London. The post holder will coordinate Spectra’s LGBTQ+ Youth Counselling Service. This will include the delivery of counselling sessions, client allocations, service development and waiting list management. In addition to liaison with members of the counselling team.

You will have good understanding of the health and well-being needs of young LGBTQ+ people, and an understanding of access barriers in underserved groups within communities.

You will have a good working knowledge of Office programmes including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
