At the Guide Dogs our Access Assistants help our employees to live the life they choose by working as a driver and support worker to enable the person supported to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. An Access Assistant does not fulfil the role for the individual but enables the person supported to carry out their role by supporting tasks to enable them to be successful in their role.

This role will include driving daily, working closely with the Habilitation Specialist. You will ideally be located within a 30-minute commute of NG9, use of vehicles will be discussed in more detail at interview. You’ll be working 22 hours per week and the majority of hours are likely to be spread across 3 days between 9am to 5pm. However, there may be some flexibility around how hours can be split, which we are happy to discuss at interview.

The Access Assistant will be confident when driving to new and unfamiliar locations and will possess strong written skills, including the ability to take accurate notes and keep clear records. They should be comfortable using basic IT tools such as email, word processing, and data entry programs. The role requires someone who can follow verbal instructions and work independently once tasks have been explained. Reliability and good time management are important, as is the physical ability to lift and carry items when needed.

Previous experience working with individuals who have physical or sensory processing access needs would be beneficial, as would familiarity with accessibility software or adapting digital and printed content. Experience supporting professional or training events may also be useful.

The successful candidate will approach their work with a calm, friendly, and respectful manner, maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality. They should be adaptable, open to varied tasks, and comfortable working one-to-one or in unfamiliar environments. The Role

• Drive continuous customer experience improvement by simplifying and improving St John’s financial processes, to provide your collective internal and external customers, an efficient and effective finance experience
• Utilise technology and tools to continuously improve the presentation and content of the charity’s financial management reports to best support and meet the needs of Budget Holders, the Senior Management and Executive Teams
• Provide clear and understandable narrative to stakeholders and the rest of the team, advocating good accounting principles and helping to educate, inform and develop others within the wider finance team
• Identify financial risks and ensure that adequate measures and controls are in place for them to controlled and managed, or escalated where necessary
• Identify and implement cost and efficiency savings, where applicable and appropriate, without compromising the quality of the service and accuracy of the reporting.
• Work with operational business partners to provide the financial analysis and appraisal for business cases, including cost/benefit of capex investment projects, and support the preparation and submission of business cases to Executive Teams for approval

Relationship Fundraising Executive.

Salary: £27,000 per annum. 

Location: Remote, (within Central Region of England).

Contract:  Permanent – 35 hours per week.

In this role of Relationship Fundraising Executive, you will support delivery of the Fundraising strategy in our communities to grow income and support for Action for Children. The role is remote working but would suit someone living in the Central Region of England.

How you'll help to create brighter futures 

• Supporting the delivery of a range of fundraising campaigns and activities across the Central Region of England that provide significant income and are in line with the relationship fundraising strategy. 
• Assisting with the stewardship of local volunteer fundraising groups, organisations, clubs, businesses in the local area to encourage further involvement in our work.
• Manage the administrative set up and support of ‘Action Squads’, i.e. volunteer led fundraising groups to help them successfully fundraise and raise awareness. 
• Working across and attending challenge events to assist the stewardship and support for sports participants, who sign up to run, walk, cycle and skydive for Action for Children across the UK. 
• Demonstrate accountability to our supporters and volunteers through an open, honest, transparent, and consistent approach.
• Supporting the delivery of set financial targets and non-financial targets and outcomes locally.
• Ensuring expected income has been received and banked within the predicted timeframes. 
• Collaborate with colleagues from within Fundraising and other departments to maximise on opportunities. 
• Manage daily processes efficiently and effectively to ensure onboarding of supporters in a timely manner. 

Let's talk about you  

• Professional Institute of Fundraising qualification (desirable) or Membership of IoF (desirable).
• Experience of delivering successful fundraising activity to achieve income growth. 
• Proven experience of networking and of developing and stewarding.
• Maintaining excellent personal relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders, donors, and volunteers. 
• Proficient in the use of Raiser’s Edge or equivalent database 
• Managing challenging and demanding situations to ensure the delivery of all events and fundraising activities.
• Ability to project manage a team of volunteers to achieve against specific financial goals where appropriate. 
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite.

- Developing and implementing a local strategy to raise awareness, steward relationships, and convert interest into legacy pledges.

- Promoting free Will-writing schemes and following up with enquirers and intenders to nurture them along their legacy journey.

Our Cancer Awareness Roadshow plays a vital role in achieving our vision of beating cancer. We travel to the heart of communities talking to over 51,000 people every year about cancer. Our nurses directly reach people most in need, helping people to take steps to reduce their risk of cancer through lifestyle changes and supporting them to maintain those changes lifelong. What will I be doing?

• Working as a core part of our Cancer Awareness team to engage people face-to-face, providing information on cancer prevention, screening and early detection

• Organising and delivering Cancer Awareness presentations and training to community groups and supporting other public health initiatives in our Nurse-led Cancer Awareness activities

• Collecting and inputting data to evaluate local engagement activities

• Getting involved with other Cancer Awareness outreach activity in the local community

• Managing a team of Health Awareness Volunteers and supporting them to be involved with Cancer Awareness activity where appropriate.

What skills are you looking for?

• Registered Nurse - NMC registration is mandatory for this role and must be maintained at all times

• An interest in or experience of at least one of the following: health promotion, practice nursing, occupational health, health visiting, district/community nursing or other qualification/experience

• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage people in conversation and to use motivational interviewing techniques

• Proven experience in delivering public-facing work, and a good understanding of the challenges associated with engaging hard to reach groups and addressing health inequalities

• Ability to work flexibly and autonomously

• Understanding of the importance and need for adhering to data protection, quality assurance and other compliance policies at all times

• Excellent written, administration and organisation skills with the ability to keep accurate confidential records

• Willingness to be flexible in regard to working days and hours

• Excellent self-awareness and the ability to recognise development areas and to seek training and support as necessary.
