Service: Perinatal Support for Partners Service
This is a service that offers fathers and non-birthing parents, who’s partner is being supported by the West London perinatal mental health service, an evidence-based 1:1 assessment to support their mental health and wellbeing. The service signpost partners to relevant services (including a PSFP peer support group).
Role Description:
To support our PSFP Service with a variety of tasks such as conducting a 1:1 assessment, (which includes onboarding to the service), co-facilitating monthly peer support groups, signposting and helping partners to access other organisations, taking care of our inbox emails and other administrative duties.

The type of person we are looking for is:
We welcome applications from those completing studies in Psychology, Counselling/Psychotherapy, or any Allied Health Profession with a focus on supporting those with mental health needs. However, your attitude, motivation, and commitment are just as important as your training/qualifications, or any previous experience. We will review all applications individually and assess them on their unique merits, so do not be discouraged from applying if you do not meet all the criteria listed below. Essential:
- An interest in supporting those with mental health needs to access PSFP
- An appreciation of the complex factors that can precipitate, maintain, and exacerbate mental health problems
- Good oral and written communication skills (including listening skills); the ability to communicate in a patient, considered, and empathetic manner
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to follow administrative procedures
- A team player who is willing to chip in and work reflexively, responding to the challenges that arise from working in a dynamic environment
- IT skills – able to update spreadsheets, use web-based applications, video-conferencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.

- Customer Service experience, including with friends and family
- Experience of supporting people with mental health needs, in a voluntary, paid, or personal capacity, (i.e., friends and family)
- Previous involvement with local community groups/networks

Time commitment and expenses:

Good Vibrations is an award-winning, national arts organisation that changes lives through music. We are best known for using the Indonesian gamelan, a magnificent set of bronze gongs, xylophones and drums. Good Vibrations is a registered charity in both England & Wales (1126493) and Scotland (SC048860). The charity is governed by the Board of Trustees, which currently numbers five following the standing down of some long-term members.
The Board is vital in Good Vibrations’ governance and is responsible for setting directions in strategy and maintaining oversight over all activity. Trustees also play an ambassadorial role in raising awareness of our work.
The current board includes expertise in arts and culture, legal and charitable affairs, finance and academia, helping to ensure that we extend our knowledge of the issues and challenges we face.
Good Vibrations is regularly in receipt of funding from Arts Council England and Creative Scotland, as well as from the National Lottery and several other Trusts and Foundations. What are we looking for?
The position has become available following the standing down of the current Chair Nick Jolliffe, who has been with the organisation since 2018. The organisation has recently appointed a new CEO, and this is an exciting time of development for the organisation.
As our new Chair, you will help shape the next exciting phase of our future development as we commence our new strategic plan, and embed our newest Trustees within our established Board. Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services to our beneficiaries.
The role of the Chair is a voluntary, non-executive appointment. The role requires a commitment of approximately two hours a week, with the capacity to flex upwards should the need arise.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong leadership skills that engage, inspire and motivate the Board, staff, freelance team and other external stakeholders.
- Genuine interest and commitment to social justice issues and improving outcomes and opportunities for marginalised people in our society.
- A proven track record in developing strategic initiatives and steering an organisation toward success
- Previous experience on the Board of a UK charity, or operating at a senior strategic leadership level in previous roles
- Knowledge about UK charity governance and commitment to maintaining high standards of governance and risk management in all areas including finance.
- Excellent communication skills and networking capabilities, and able to act as an ambassador for the charity and cause.
- Ability to commit time, interest and effort to conduct the role well.
How our Board works
Trustees meet quarterly at Board Meetings, either in person in London or online from 5.00pm – 7.30pm. There is also an annual Strategy day in London.
In addition, a Finance sub-committee meets quarterly, looking in-depth at finance and other matters, before putting recommendations forward to the Board.
Trustees do not receive remuneration or other benefits, but all expenses can be claimed including those required to cover access needs such as sign language, interpretation, captioning or travel expenses. The full legal framework for Trustees is laid out in the Articles of Association, which were recently revised in 2022.
Trustees serve for an initial term of three years and will have the opportunity to be re-appointed for a second and final term (maximum of nine years).

Trustees ensure the good governance and smooth running of the charity, supporting the Chief Executive Director, the wider staff team, and our team of freelance facilitators.

All Good Vibrations’ Trustees have responsibility for the:
- governance of the organisation in line with legal and financial requirements of the Charity Commission, OSCR, other regulatory bodies, and funders;
- appointment, including the approval of job descriptions and pay levels of members of staff; agreeing terms & conditions and employment procedures;
- recruitment of new Trustees;
- approval of Good Vibrations’ strategy, its business, and artistic plans, and use of resources;
- approval of budgets, annual accounts and financial strategies;
- approval of all policies ensuring that they are updated in line with law and best practice.
The Chair, as the leader of the Board of Trustees, has some additional responsibilities including:
- working with and line managing the CEO to develop the direction and strategy of the charity;
- conducting annual performance reviews for each trustee and the CEO;
- ensuring high standards of governance, risk management and strategic direction
- ensuring that all Trustees have the information available to carry out this task and monitor progress;
- leading and developing the Board of Trustees and CEO including induction, training and succession planning;
- support of the CEO in their role, including developing external relations with key agencies;
- working with other members of the Board to organise and populate sub-committees and short-term working groups;
- planning the cycle of Board Meetings and working with the CEO to set agendas and plan meetings;
- chairing and facilitating Board meetings effectively, encouraging discussion, summarising key points and ensuring decisions are made fairly;
- acting as a principal ambassador for the organisation at Board level and developing external relationships for the benefit of Good Vibrations

Role Description:
This role sits within our new mental health Prevention Hub - which is a drop-in service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed, seeking support and advice for their mental health, there and then. This service is a 9 month pilot project and will initially operate 11am-7pm Monday-Friday, however there may be a need to cover weekends/late nights, depending on the need of our clients.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health distress. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate, and provide holistic wellbeing plans.

- Has lived experience of mental health challenges

- To be able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity
- To feel comfortable engaging with people with mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk

Job Description:
As a Volunteer Events Assistant, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by supporting in-person Teashop sessions. Each session brings together groups of up to 15 adults experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health symptoms, providing them with an enjoyable activity and an opportunity for connection in a supportive environment. We’ve offered dog therapy, art-making, yoga, and wellness discussions in the past.
Responsibilities:
- Create Eventbrite/Facebook/Instagram ads to draw new participants to future sessions.
- Assist with the setup and logistics of sessions for The Teashop service
- Travel to and support Teashop sessions by helping with materials, taking photos, and managing sign-in procedures, typically two sessions per month during weekends.
- Create engaging social media content to promote The Teashop sessions and build community awareness.
- If required, provide mental health first aid support by signposting and offering assistance to attendees in need.
- Collect feedback at the end of each session and input it into Excel spreadsheets.
Essential Criteria:
- 18+ years old
- Completed A-levels or equivalent
- Must possess a valid DBS check or be willing to have it done

Who we are
The Association of Mental Health Providers is the national voice of mental health charities providing services in England and Wales, representing the full spectrum and diversity of third-sector service provision. We have over 300 members delivering over 3000 services locally, regionally, and nationally, with a significant reach of over 8 million people affected by poor mental health and illness.
We are led by a small and supportive team, working closely together to deliver a range of projects and programmes successfully. We exist to support our members of voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) providers of mental health and wellbeing services to continue delivering services effectively, to grow and become sustainable, and to amplify their voices at the national level to inform policy and practice.
As a national alliance of providers, we are focused on supporting the delivery of services which make a positive and demonstrable difference to people with poor mental health and illness and promotes the crucial role of the sector as a planning and delivery partner in improving mental health in England and Wales.
About the role
As our new Chair, you will be to lead the Board, working with the Chief Executive to raise the profile of The Association, represent us externally and support the continued development as a recognised and vital partner to our members. You will play an important role in consolidating a strong strategic position and effectively promoting the voice of our membership at a national policy level, utilising evidence from the sector.
You will be appointed on a three-year term, with a commitment of two days per calendar month on average. The Chair is appointed by members of the Board, recruited by a sub-committee formed by Member CEO Trustees.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking to appoint a Chair who is independent of any current or potential member agency and who has knowledge of the health and/or social care fields. You will have an understanding and experience of charity and/or public sector governance, with experience as a Chair, providing support and challenge to a Chief Executive.
Evidence of critical thinking and prioritising at a strategic level and an understanding and visible commitment to EDI will be key. You will come with well-developed communication skills, with internal and external audiences, and a commitment to support the Association’s membership to improve the mental health, care and support of individuals and communities.

We are a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing. Our flagship service is The Teashop, which brings small groups of community members together to foster their mental wellbeing through an enjoyable activity with known mental health benefits, over a cup of tea.
Job Description:
As a Volunteer Events Assistant, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by supporting in-person Teashop sessions. Each session brings together groups of up to 15 adults experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health symptoms, providing them with an enjoyable activity and an opportunity for connection in a supportive environment. We’ve offered dog therapy, art-making, yoga, and wellness discussions in the past.
Responsibilities:
- Create Eventbrite/Facebook/Instagram ads to draw new participants to future sessions.
- Assist with the setup and logistics of sessions for The Teashop service
- Travel to and support Teashop sessions by helping with materials, taking photos, and managing sign-in procedures, typically two sessions per month during weekends.
- Create engaging social media content to promote The Teashop sessions and build community awareness.
- If required, provide mental health first aid support by signposting and offering assistance to attendees in need.
- Collect feedback at the end of each session and input it into Excel spreadsheets.
Essential Criteria:
- 18+ years old
- Completed A-levels or equivalent
- Must possess a valid DBS check or be willing to have it done
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively during sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for engaging with diverse communities
- Availability to volunteer two weekend days per month for in-person sessions
- Ability to travel to session locations within the designated area
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and social media management.
Desirable criteria:
- An undergraduate degree (BSc/BA)
- A valid driver's license and licensed vehicle to help transport materials
- Experience in customer service/administrative role
- Experience with working with people with mental health conditions
- Experience in social media and/or graphic design skills

Skills and experience

- Governance, including holding leadership positions in the charity sector or serving on a trustee board.
- Charity grant-making, including membership of grant-making panels or committees.
- Pro-bono support of charities and connecting expertise.
- Lived experience of youth work or engaging in the youth sector.
- Lived experience of mental health.
We are looking for trustees who:
- Have a deep commitment to Mind of the Student's mission, and ambition for the charity to make a significant positive difference for young people.
- Have a specific interest in mental health.
- Are able to work well as part of a diverse team of trustees, with the interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Have excellent communication skills with an instinct to listen first and the confidence to challenge supportively.
- Are problem-solvers who use evidence to make judgements and decisions.
Payment
This is a voluntary role and trustees receive no remuneration. Reasonable expenses can be claimed in line with Mind of the Student's expenses policy.
Hours
Trustees are expected to attend four trustee meetings each year of two-hours each. In addition, attendance at other ad-hoc meetings and discussion may be required. Total time commitment is expected to be up to two hours per month.
Location
Board meetings are held at Bower Park Academy, Havering Road, Romford RM1 4YY, ideally in person but can be attended online.
Each trustee is appointed on a three-year term.
