Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
As Young Carers Support Worker you will be part of a small, dedicated team which directly deliver a range of services for young carers, including information and advice, emotional support and mentoring, promoting awareness of young carers and delivering a wide selection of group activities, both term-time and in the school holiday programme. Using all your skills, you will work with the young carers’ team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers to best meet their identified needs.
With your proven knowledge of working with children and young people, families, carers or other vulnerable groups on an individual and/or group basis, you will recognise the importance of being client focused and have a commitment to enhance the lives of young carers and their families, including knowledge and awareness of sibling young carers and vulnerable families. You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of young carer’s needs, a wide range of skills in relation to service delivery to support young carers and have a sound understanding of social care provision in both statutory and voluntary sector environments.
You will be self-motivated and positive in your approach to working with both young carers, their families and team members, and have a willingness to embrace our organisational values. Being innovative and creative, you will identify and implement a range of support mechanisms for young carers, enhancing their wellbeing and supporting them to achieve identified goals. Strong administrative, time management, IT and organisational skills are essential. Your ability and willingness to regularly work outside normal working hours is required.

Fundraising Events Officer
Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

This is an exciting and vital role supporting the delivery of the events programme within a leading mental health charity.
We are looking for someone with a love for events and a passion for supporting people wanting to raise money to make a difference for young people’s mental health. As Fundraising Events Officer, your role is to support the Fundraising Events Manager to plan, deliver and review an exciting calendar of Charlie Waller fundraising events, supporting a wide range of third-party challenge events and community led activities.
Key responsibilities and duties
The Fundraising Events Officer will support the overall delivery of our varied events programme, bringing their enthusiasm to a calendar of events that aim to raise significant income for the charity, whilst also raising the charities profile and reach. They will play a key role in the delivery of well-loved annual events and support our growing network of event participants. Including but not limited to:
- Supporting the overall delivery of our events programme, working closely with the Fundraising Events Manager, Head of Fundraising and fundraising committees.
- The opportunity to take a lead role on the planning, delivery and evaluation of a number of events, managing the expenditure budget and meeting income targets.
- Maintain event income and supporter records in the database, working closely with the Fundraising Assistant and finance team on processing income and invoices.
- Support the fundraising committees with their activities, providing administrative support and guidance as needed.
- Support the promotion of our fundraising events, writing copy, building emails and supporting social activity.
- Support the development of our event marketing collateral, to support participants fundraising efforts.
- Build relationships with third-party event organisers.
- Provide regular updates on progress against agreed objectives and contribute to wider departmental fundraising reports as required.
- Represent The Charlie Waller Trust at events as required which will include ad-hoc evenings and weekends for which time off in lieu will be given.
- Monitor online fundraising, through supporting those raising funds, to creating and maintaining clear income and communication records.
- Develop excellent and enduring relationships with existing supporters, fundraisers and community groups and engage new audiences. Including recognising and supporting their fundraising efforts and thanking them appropriately.
- Send fundraising materials (including t-shirts, information packs, etc.) to individuals raising money for us.
- Ensure that systems and processes are used as expected, and that our database is being updated and utilised as the central source of information.
- Liaise with a wide variety of people and organisations including supporters of the charity, trainers, funders, other statutory and voluntary organisations who work in the mental health field, and members of the public.
- Ensure compliance to data protection, safeguarding, confidentiality and relevant organisational policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be reasonably prescribed by the trust, appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the post.

About the role
We are looking for a Chief Executive officer who is passionate about the mental health of our communities. They will lead Riverside Counselling Service in defining and delivering its strategy and ensuring it uses its funding and income to provide accessible mental health services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, and experience of working in the mental health sector or allied disciplines. They will also have extensive experience of fundraising and be happy to take a proactive role in this area. They will take an empathic and collaborative approach to leading and managing teams. The candidate will be a self-starter, adept at prioritisation, possess excellent communication and networking skills and combine a strong understanding of the distinctive nature of leading a charity with great management skills.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Planning
· Work closely with the Board of Trustees and the senior leadership team to devise, implement and deliver Riverside’s strategy and business plan
· Identify growth, partnership and development opportunities in line with the needs of communities we serve
· Keep up to date with new developments in the field of mental health and any related government policies, reviewing in line with charitable objectives and strategic direction
Leadership & People Management
· Overall responsibility for day-to-day management of the organisation, ensuring that it is delivering against its vision, mission and strategic objectives, in line with its values
· Lead, empower and inspire the staff and volunteers creating a collaborative, transparent and safe working environment
· Champion and embed a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the organisation
Fundraising and Business Development
· Work closely with the Fundraising Manager and Treasurer (Trustee) to develop an annual budget and ensure a funding strategy to delivery sustainability
· Work with the Fundraising Manager in writing persuasive and successful bid proposals and applications to a diverse portfolio of funders
· Work with the Senior Leadership Team to explore and implement new funding streams to support the charity’s work.
Financial Management
· Ensure the financial health of the organisation, monitoring financial position and forecasts against budget and ensuring strong financial governance is in place for
· Work closely with the Treasurer to ensure financial transparency and that the organisation is adhering to regulatory and legal obligations
Operations and Service Delivery
· Oversee all aspects of service delivery including safeguarding, ensuring excellent and ethical delivery of a client-centred service
· Monitor the quality and quantity of services delivered, outcome measures and feedback, reporting on the impact of services
· Ensure that all counsellors are supported in their professional development and client delivery with a clear framework of support and guidance
Partnerships, Engagement & Advocacy
· Develop and manage relationships with key charitable stakeholders, including other community and charitable organisations, counselling networks, grant and funding bodies, commissioners, regulatory and professional bodies, corporate partners and individual donors
· Act as the public face of Riverside Counselling Services and represent the charity across the mental health sector, within professional bodies and within the media
· Keep in touch with the needs of the community and the charity’s service users ensuring that services are developed in line with these priorities.
Governance
· Work closely with the board to ensure they are able to fulfil their governance responsibilities and maintain high standards of governance
· Ensure the charity is meeting its overall purpose within a clear governance framework with associated policies, procedures and best practice guidelines
In addition, the postholder will be required to undertake any other activities appropriate to and commensurate with, their level of responsibility and accountability.

We are seeking an experienced Rent Officer to join our small, dispersed Rent Team which consists of a Rent Team Leader; two Rent Officers, and two part-time Rent Team Administrators which sits within our Housing and Property services. In conjunction with our Supported Housing services, the Rent Team is responsible for the collection of the organisation's rent and other property charges. As a Rent Officer you will manage a caseload of properties and will be responsible for monitoring rent accounts; ensuring that appropriate action is taken to maximize rental income. You will ensure accuracy of rent accounts’ and service users’ information held on the rent management database (Pyramid).
In addition, you will liaise with relevant local authorises housing benefit departments; ensuring positive relationships are forged. You will have knowledge of the external environment in which YMCA DownsLink Group works and keep abreast of key changes, particularly around Welfare Reform.
Hybrid role – mainly based at Reed House in Hove, with an expectation to work out of other locations across the YMCA DownsLink Group area when required.
