The Head of Safeguarding is a senior leadership role within the organisation, responsible for driving safer cultures and safeguarding strategies across the organisation. 

You will serve as the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, working closely with the Chief Officer, Board of Trustees, and a dedicated Safeguarding Subcommittee.

You will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of safeguarding and safe recruitment policies and practice across the organisation — supporting staff, volunteers, and members in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all, especially children, young people, and vulnerable individuals.You will also supervise our internal safeguarding practitioners and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement by overseeing case reviews, leading appeals processes, and advising on training and the development learning tools and materials in relation to safeguarding policy and practice.

Join the leading UK charity dedicated to supporting babies born premature, to lead a new programme of work in Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive programme lead or project manager to lead engagement with healthcare teams and parents/carers across Wales to improve care for babies across 9 neonatal units, focussing especially on babies who face the biggest challenges.

Every year in Wales, around 2800 babies are born premature or sick and needing care on a neonatal unit – this isn’t what most parents expect for their baby. Many of these babies, and their families, will face inequalities which relate to their ethnicity, or their socio-economic disadvantage.

Bliss is the UK’s leading national charity for babies born premature or sick, and we are looking for someone with the skills for engagement and project management to join team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to help lead an exciting new programme of work, to understand the needs of parents and healthcare teams across Wales, to increase reach and impact in the country.
 

• Location: Based in Wales and able to travel to 9 neonatal units across the country. We expect at least 1-2 visits to each unit in the fixed term of the contract

Role details

TBliss has recently been awarded a one-year grant from the Welsh Government to deliver a programme of work to support and drive neonatal service transformation across the country. In line with Bliss new 4-year strategy, this programme will work with neonatal healthcare professionals across the 9 neonatal units in Wales, support families whose babies need this vital care, and include research and policy work to improve care across the country.

The programme lead will coordinate the work of this programme, which will be managed by teams across Bliss, and lead on the engagement of parents and healthcare teams across Wales. During the 12 months of the funding agreement, to the end of September 2026, the programme will:
•Raise awareness of and access to Bliss’ information and support for parents
•Support all neonatal units to progress through Bliss’ Baby Charter standards
•Undertake service-user involvement work to inform the development of a new digital parent support service
•Undertake engagement work with health professionals to inform training and the development of resources to support the delivery of Family Integrated Care (FICare)
•Carry out a policy research project on neonatal inequalities.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

•Proven ability to build effective internal and external relationships with a range of stakeholders
•Strong experience of project management, able to juggle multiple priorities and coordinate with others to deliver activities on time and to budget
•Self-motivated and solutions-focused, able to work on own initiative to get things done
•Demonstrable understanding of how to involve service users in the development, delivery and evaluation of services
•Strong understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion, and of inequalities related to healthcare, and how to tackle these.

About the Department/Role

The Church of England is continually striving to improve its safeguarding practices. The 2020 report by IICSA on the Church highlighted failures in respect of child sexual abuse and, more broadly, the challenges facing the Church to get safeguarding right.

The Church's aspiration is that safeguarding is not experienced and approached as a matter of administrative compliance. Rather, it should be what the Church is - something that flows from its core beliefs and values, part of its DNA.

The Church has made important and positive strides over recent years. There is, however, still much to be done to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, and to promote their well-being. The Church is a complex collection of different bodies. Most of the safeguarding work is carried out locally within the 42 dioceses and cathedrals in England. This work is supported centrally by a National Safeguarding Team (NST).

The NST itself comprises three departments: Casework, Programmes and Administration, and Learning and Development, which provides high-quality safeguarding learning, policy, and guidance to those working, paid or unpaid, licensed or lay, in the Church of England. This role will be pivotal to delivering learning and development.

What you'll be doing

In this vital role, you'll join a dynamic team committed to nurturing high-quality safeguarding practice throughout the Church. You'll work alongside our two National Safeguarding Learning and Development Managers, delivering engaging in-person and online training for senior leaders, diocesan staff, and safeguarding officers.

Main responsibilities

• Deliver national learning events, including SLSP, with a focus on systemic theory and leadership development.
• Facilitate sensitive conversations around safeguarding culture, ensuring a safe and reflective learning environment.
• Evaluate the impact of training, contribute to continuous learning improvements, and support new pathway development.
• Organise and lead professional development programmes for Safeguarding Officers and Trainers.

Key role requirements

• This is a homeworking role; however, this position requires the post holder to frequently travel across England, visiting Dioceses and Cathedrals, including overnight stays and occasional weekend commitments.

A pre-event for youth attendees under the age of 30 will take place before the conference. 

About the Role:

This role operates within a volunteer-led global charitable organisation with 153 Member Organisations. It provides the inspiration, knowledge and direction to continually protect and enhance WAGGGS’ rich legacy and expand its collective reach and impact. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and attendees from across our Movement - each bringing their own unique perspectives and experiences. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Be responsible for maintaining the registration site and event website (using the events management software, Cvent) including individual event databases, providing reports as required and ensuring good communication with participants via email. 

2. Provide administrative and logistical support for all aspects of online and in-person Event Management. This includes assisting volunteers and staff with registration and platform issues, and, if appropriate, travel arrangements and accommodation. 

3. Ensure internal and external communications with Member Organisations, participants, staff members and volunteers and event suppliers are timely, relevant and of a high quality.

Birthrights is the leading authority on the fundamental human rights of women and birthing people during pregnancy and birth and our work has never been more urgent.

We need a strong team-player and self-starter who can respond to all enquiries coming into the advice service and who knows when to seek further support, guidance, or information from the rest of the team.

Our advice and information manager, who works 3 days a week, will retain overall responsibility for the advice service provision, bringing the intelligence themes from the advice service to the wider training and advocacy work of Birthrights. You will be supported by the manager to respond and to confidentially record advice enquiries on two days a week, working directly with the advice and information manager and our Legal Lead on any more challenging enquiries that require a response beyond giving individual advice. For example, Birthrights might write directly to a Trust or raise themes from our advice work with the NMC or the Royal Colleges. You will coordinate your schedule with the existing Advice and Information Officer and Manager to ensure that two team members are available throughout the week, with overlap in working days for collaborative working and team meetings.

You will be an integral part of our team. We have a weekly advice team meeting and monthly team meetings. We use Microsoft Teams messaging and calls to support one another and to communicate throughout the day.

Birthrights is a small but mighty charity, and our reputation will be in your hands. We pride ourselves on our expertise in human rights law, and how it applies to maternity care, and on our empathetic and supportive service. We provide legal information, rather than counselling or legal advice, and we make practical suggestions on how and where to advocate to bring about a swift resolution of a rights-based problem. We signpost to other organisations when enquiries go beyond our core areas of knowledge.

As we continue to build capacity within the team, we are focused not only on meeting current demand, but also on looking ahead — identifying the evolving needs of those who may seek our support, and ensuring our approach remains responsive, impactful, and grounded in rights-based care.

About the role

As an Employment Advisor, you will be working with Afghan refugees. The Advisor’s role is to prepare clients for competitive employment and support them in achieving their career goals. This includes guiding them through training, work placements, and into paid employment. The role is performance-driven, with targets based on client progression outcomes such as successful completion of training, voluntary and work placements, and securing sustainable employment.

We are seeking an individual to undertake the dual role of promoting the profile of the RAF Benevolent Funds welfare offer, whilst also carrying out welfare casework. This is a community-based position working from home but covering the West Midlands: Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire.

Post holders will be expected to undertake holistic assessment of need both remotely (over the telephone and online) and when required in person across their region. You will be expected to work with individuals who may have complex and sometimes challenging welfare needs, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within both the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector, ensuring that support is made available to meet their need through the case working process. 

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals and will have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of issues affecting the Armed Forces community.

This is home based and the candidate must have their own vehicle for use of traveling around the region covered. Occasional travel to London will be required. The successful candidate for this role will need to be Enhanced DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.
