At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £13 million a year to run our care services.
What's involved?
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness for Acorns and gather contact information or sign-ups from individuals interested in our fundraising events; volunteers will assist at the stand as representatives of Acorns, help manage on-the-day activities such as games and competitions, collect donations, and may also take part as Alex the Acorn mascot or chaperone. While food and parking are not provided, water will be available, and volunteers will have free access to the Running Show before or after their allocated shift (RRP £15/day).
How much time will it take?
8:30am – 5pm
We would like to split each day into two shifts, with 2 volunteers on each shift.
Shift 1: 8.30am – 12:30pm
Shift 2: 12.30pm – 5pm
Alex & Chaperone’s hours will be 9am – 4pm

Role Description:
This role sits within our new Coproduction and Transformation Project
The role of the Co-Production Volunteer is central to the success of the Co-Production and Transformation and Engagement Project. Volunteers bring lived experience, local knowledge, and critical perspectives to support the redesign of mental health services, so they are inclusive, accessible, and rooted in the real needs of those who use them.
This role exists to ensure that service users, carers, and community members have a meaningful voice in shaping decisions that affect care delivery. Volunteers will work alongside professionals, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, highlight strengths, and co-create improvements. Whether drawing from personal experiences of mental health challenges, supporting someone through the system, or working in the community, volunteers act as equal partners in transformation. They help build bridges between professionals and service users, promote accountability, and encourage a culture of openness and innovation.
Through structured engagement such as workshops, advisory groups, feedback panels, and co-design activities, the Co-Production Volunteers will contribute to the long-term sustainability and responsiveness of mental health services. Established in 2012, Mid Cheshire Foodbank (MCFB) is part of the Trussell Trust’s UK network of over 1400 Foodbanks, which provide food to people in crisis in their local areas.
2. Our Purpose:
MCFB exists to provide relief to individuals and families in crisis in Mid Cheshire and surrounding areas, through the provision of a sustainable food bank and associated activities.
3. Role summary:
To manage the supermarket collections for Mid Cheshire Foodbank (MCFB), including co-ordination of collections, volunteers and building partnerships as required.
4. Responsible to:
MCFB Operations Manager.
Close liaison required with Warehouse.
5. Responsibilities:
List of duties:
1. Put in place all arrangements for regular monthly and ad hoc collections.
2. Ensure national collections are held in line with Trussell instructions.
3. Liaise with supermarket Community Leads to agree dates and arrangements.

5. Arrange for food lists to be printed for each collection, and delivered to the Warehouse.

For over 35 years, Young Citizens has helped children and young people understand society, engage in democracy and make a positive impact in their communities. Through flagship programmes like The Big Legal Lesson, The Big Democracy Lesson, the Make a Difference Challenge and the National Mock Trial Competitions, we bring citizenship to life in classrooms and communities across the UK – reaching 300,000+ young people every year.
Our five-year strategy, Lighting the Spark, is focused on making sure every young person in the UK experiences powerful, practical and immersive citizenship learning. As a Trustee, you will help shape this next phase of growth, strengthen our financial sustainability, and ensure we make the most of the opportunities ahead.
This is a voluntary role (reasonable expenses reimbursed) and a chance to play a strategic part in strengthening UK democracy through education.

What We Are Looking For
We’re seeking two trustees who can help Young Citizens expand our reach, influence, and financial resilience. You don’t need prior trustee experience, we provide a full induction, safeguarding training, and ongoing support.
We’re especially interested in those with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Citizenship teaching or school leadership – understanding how schools work and how to embed civic learning and active citizenship across the curriculum.
- Marketing, communications and influencing – building brands, running campaigns, shifting perceptions and engaging educators, young people and supporters.
- Business growth, strategic partnerships and business development – scaling organisations, securing strategic partnerships and growing mission-aligned income streams.
- Digital transformation or innovation – using digital tools, products or platforms to grow impact.
- Fundraising and income generation – philanthropy, trusts and foundations, corporate fundraising or individual giving.
We continue to welcome applications from those experienced in leadership, public service, law, finance, policy or youth engagement.

Role Requirements
The role requires around 4–6 hours per month, including preparation and engagement between meetings. Trustees attend four board meetings a year at our St Paul's office (usually weekday evenings), monthly online finance updates, and an annual Away Day. Appointments are for an initial three-year term, with potential renewal. While day-to-day operations are led by the Chief Executive and senior team, trustees hold ultimate responsibility for governance and compliance.

Mencap’s goal is to make the UK the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to lead happy and healthy lives. To help us with this, we are currently looking for a volunteer to help support a person with a learning disability to travel to meetings or events.
The Travel Buddy Volunteer will support a Voices Council member who is a person with a learning disability (and possibly other disabilities) to attend a Voices Council meeting 4 times a year to travel from Wales to London and one regional meeting a year that is not in London.
As a Travel Buddy Volunteer, you’ll support one person to attend:
• Four national Voices Council meetings a year in London
• One regional meeting a year in a different UK location
Even if you can only commit to one meeting a year, we would absolutely love to hear from you. Every bit of support makes a huge difference.
This role involves travelling with her on public transport the day before the meeting, staying overnight in a hotel, and supporting the person to get to Mencap’s London office on the day of the meeting. But it’s so much more than a journey of A to B, you’ll be:
- Enabling the Voices Council member to show up, share their voice, and shape decisions at Mencap
- Helping the Voices Council member to feel confident, calm and safe during the journey
- Encouraging the Voices Council member to build skills to travel more confidently over time
This is an ad-hoc opportunity with plenty of advance notice, giving you the flexibility to volunteer when you are able. All travel and hotel expenses for both you and the journey and the person you are supporting will be covered.

24-25 November
You’ll also have free time to explore London for the day while the member attends her meeting.
