Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £61,430 - £70,007 p.a. (NJC Spine Points 49 – 55). Salary to be at entry-level except for exceptional circumstances.
Contract: Fixed term to 31 March 2027, with potential extension subject to confirmation of funding.

This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), but job shares, secondments and reduced hours will be considered as part of our commitment to flexible working. Working days will predominantly be Monday to Friday. Our team works a minimum of two days a week in person, and our core office day is Tuesday. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required.
We have permanent office space at House of Sport in Manchester, and office space with GMCA and NHS GM at Tootal Buildings, Oxford Road, Manchester. We have regular team and co-working days, blended with homeworking. We trust you to work in a way that suits you and that enables you to be productive and thrive.

Details:
Salary: £33,500 per annum.
Location: The post holder will be contractually based at Hospice House, Britannia Street, London, WC1X 9JG. This role is eligible for the Hospice UK Hybrid Working Arrangement from the start of employment. Our expectation is that you will come to London at least two days each month for team meetings, plus a quarterly ‘all staff’ event, and External Affairs away days a few times a year. The Communications team mostly comes into the office at least once a week on a Wednesday. You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time.

Job Information:
As our Membership Communications Officer, you’ll play a vital role in engaging with the people who work in Hospice UK’s 210 member organisations, as well as other key audiences. Your mission will be to deliver clear, engaging and impactful communications that promote awareness of Hospice UK’s work and the wider hospice sector. You will work with powerful personal stories of hospice care, translating deeply moving human stories of grief and compassion into engaging and sensitive content.
Working closely with colleagues in the Membership Engagement and Communications & Campaigns teams, you’ll:
- Create and deliver compelling content across web, email and social media channels.
- Source and produce stories that showcase the incredible work of our members.
- Plan, research and build web pages, and manage social media activity.
- Analyse engagement data to provide insights and continuously improve our communications.
A key part of this role will involve building strong relationships with members through regular communications, meetings and hospice visits, helping you understand their needs and the challenges facing the sector.
About you
Are you a creative communicator who loves making content shine? You’ll have excellent copywriting skills and be able to craft clear, engaging messages for different audiences and channels. Confident in managing social media, you’ll know how to use analytics to track and improve performance. Highly organised, you can deliver communications to large, diverse audiences while working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to create great content.
It’s a bonus if you’re familiar with tools like Canva, Hootsuite or Mailchimp, have experience using analytics tools for social media and websites, or have knowledge of membership organisations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic
- Lead on the development and delivery of CFT’s corporate fundraising strategy, setting income targets and KPIs with the Director of Development
- Create compelling and innovative partnership opportunities for corporate supporters
- Contribute to the wider Development strategy and annual Business Plan
Fundraising & Relationship Building
- Meet the annual Corporate Development target, currently c£300,000, along with the support of the Development Officer
- Secure sponsorship for productions, seasons, and organisational priorities
- Identify, cultivate and convert new corporate supporters, building long-term, high-value relationships
- Devise and deliver tailored cultivation and pitching strategies, including for national brands
- Draft and negotiate contracts for all corporate partnerships
- Host cultivation events and support the Development Committee, Executive and senior managers in engaging prospective sponsors
- Ensure due diligence in line with CFT’s Donation Acceptance Policy
- Support the Development Officer in managing and growing CFT’s Corporate Membership network
Donor and Partnership Management
- Manage CFT’s portfolio of corporate supporters, ensuring timely delivery of benefits, publicity and events
- Oversee reporting to sponsors and partners, demonstrating impact and value
- Work with colleagues across CFT to develop and deliver bespoke partnership opportunities aligned with corporate social responsibility priorities
Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to deliver sponsorship benefits and ensure accurate representation of sponsors across CFT platforms
- Develop creative branding opportunities and report on sponsorship reach
- Coordinate sponsor advertising and communications, with support from the Development Officer and Marketing team
Management
- Provide coaching, training and support to the Development Officer to ensure professional growth and high performance
- Model excellence in fundraising practice and collaboration across CFT
- Manage budgets within the corporate fundraising portfolio and contribute to organisational efficiency and effectiveness
