You will bring your expertise in the Brazelton approach, the NBAS and/or NBO, to the forefront of our work, ensuring it continues to guide everything we do. Background

The Brazelton Centre UK aims to support the transition and adjustment to parenthood, focusing on the development and mental health needs of both babies and parents. Holding the baby in mind, the Centre, which is research and practice based, enables health professionals to facilitate relationship building between parents and their newborn at a time that is experienced as a major life event. The philosophy of the organisation is one of enabling effective service development, appropriate clinical intervention and sharing of expertise.

The Centre, established in Cambridge in 1997, is a training organisation for health professionals and researchers who work with babies and parents.We offer training courses in the Newborn Behavioural Observations System (NBO) and Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale. (NBAS). Brazelton Centre UK is one of four Centres in the world, teaching the NBO and NBAS, and the most active.Brazelton UK works in partnership with other organisations on training, surveys and research, including third sector organisations, universities, NHS trusts and organisations providing support for the under-fives. Almost 6,000 practitionershave undertaken the UK training courses in both the NBO and NBAS.

The Centre currently has a staff of 7 from different professional groups, in a range of roles, with 10 Trainers across the UK, able to teach specific courses as required. 

The charity has a Board of Trustees.The Strategy and Service Development Lead will report directly to the Director and be ultimately accountable to the Board of Trustees.

The Brazelton Centre UK has developed a new Strategic Plan for 2025–2030, setting out ambitious goals to increase reach and impact, expand research activity, develop new training programmes and increase engagement with parents.

This new post has been created to support the Director and Trustees in delivering this strategy and to lead the development of new programmes, partnerships and services that support the Centre’s mission.

This is a part-time post in the first instance and may entail some travelling in the UK and abroad for meetings. 

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

Strategic development and implementation

·Support the Director and Board of Trustees in the implementation of the Brazelton Centre UK’s strategic plan.

·Lead the coordination and delivery of strategic initiatives designed to increase the reach, impact and sustainability of the Centre’s work.

·Identify opportunities for innovation and development of services that support professionals working with babies and their families.

·Work collaboratively with the Director and staff team to translate strategic priorities into practical implementation plans and measurable outcomes.

·Monitor progress against strategic objectives and provide regular updates to the Director and Trustees

Service and programme development

·Lead the development of new programmes, services and initiatives in line with the BCUK’s strategic goals.

·Support the development of new training programmes and educational resources for health professionals and practitioners working with parents and babies.

·Work with colleagues, trainers and partners to design, pilot and evaluate new initiatives including antenatal and postnatal programmes.

·Work with the Director, staff team and trainers to support the development and implementation of online learning modules, webinars and digital educational resources that enhance the BCUK’s training and educational offer.

·Contribute to the development of digital resources that support professionals trained in the NBO and NBAS, including resources designed to strengthen implementation and reflective practice.

·Ensure that all programme development reflects current evidence and best practice in infant mental health, early development and parent–infant relationships.

Partnerships and collaboration

·Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external organisations including universities, NHS services, local authorities and voluntary sector organisations.

·Contribute to the development of professional networks and initiatives that support practitioners trained in the NBO and NBAS.

· Support the Director in identifying opportunities for collaborative projects, research partnerships and service innovation.

· Represent the Brazelton Centre UK in meetings, networks and events as appropriate.

· Promote collaborative working with partners in order to strengthen the Centre’s profile and maximise opportunities for impact.

Research and evaluation

·Support the Director and R&D Manager with the development of research collaborations and evaluation projects which strengthen the evidence base for the Brazelton approach.

·Work with academic and clinical partners to develop evaluation frameworks that demonstrate the impact of Brazelton Centre UK programmes and training, and support dissemination of learning and research findings.

·Assist in the identification of opportunities for research funding and collaborative projects.

Governance and organisational development

·Support the Director and Board of Trustees in the development and review of organisational policies, strategies and governance processes.

·Work closely with the Director to support the effective operational functioning of the Brazelton Centre UK, helping to ensure that organisational priorities and work programmes are delivered effectively.

·Provide leadership and coordination of agreed areas of organisational activity, working with the Director to support the management and development of the Brazelton Centre UK staff team.

·Support the Director in the development of staff objectives, work plans and monitoring of progress against agreed priorities.

·Contribute to the coordination and oversight of the delivery of programmes, projects and training activities to ensure they meet organisational standards and strategic objectives.

As Director of External Affairs across the Bild Group of four small charities (with collective turnover of approx. £3m/yr), you will have a deep commitment to human rights and improving people’s lives.

You will provide strategic direction and leadership to the External Relations function across all four charities in the group, taking overall responsibility for and providing thought-leadership on our strategic approach to policy, influencing, public affairs, stakeholder engagement. 

You will play a lead role in planning, developing, and implementing the communication and external relations and wider engagement strategic plan to grow awareness and profile of Bild, Respond, Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) and ACT.

By sharing the impact of our work and programmes in improving the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and /or mental health conditions, you will support Bild in becoming the sector leading provider of organisational and workforce development (and RRN in becoming the leading charity in reducing restrictive practices globally – and Respond as leaders in trauma informed therapy).

You will champion Bild and RRN’s brand, vision, mission and values acting as an ambassador for the organisation both internally and externally to partners, stakeholders and media.

Strategic Leadership:  

• Develop and implement an integrated communications and external relations strategy across the four charities in the group to raise our profile and to influence change which positively impacts on our beneficiaries, aligning media, campaigning, and public affairs with the charity’s mission and strategic priorities

Comms & Marketing:

About the role 

This role sits at the heart of UK Community Foundations’ ambition to build a strong, confident and connected community foundation field across the UK. You will help grow the field by supporting shared learning, strengthening our collective infrastructure and helping people connect with each other in meaningful ways. 

You will work across communities of practice, learning activity, digital spaces and shared resources. You will also curate the monthly newsletter and events bulletin, helping members stay connected to learning opportunities, insights and activity across the field. You will help gather insight, notice patterns and bring ideas together so that the community foundation movement can continue to learn, adapt and evolve. 

You will also play an important role in supporting a high quality member experience. This includes being a first point of contact for member enquiries, helping ensure members receive clear, timely and welcoming responses, and supporting continuous improvement of our membership offer. 

You do not need to have worked in community foundations before. We are interested in people who bring curiosity, transferable skills and a commitment to learning. 

The Field Building team leads work on leadership development, international learning, sector standards and shared knowledge. This role connects across all of that work and gives you a broad view of how the field operates and where it is heading.

Your portfolio 

You will hold responsibility for three core areas. 

Communities of practice 

You will coordinate communities of practice so that they are welcoming, purposeful and inclusive spaces. This includes planning sessions, preparing content, facilitation, making introductions and helping conversations flow. 

You will listen closely to what participants are learning and feed insights back into the team. You will help track themes across groups and contribute to shaping future learning agendas. You will also support participation and follow up, helping ensure members feel encouraged and able to engage. 

Member Hub 

You will manage and curate the Member Hub (our online learning and networking community) so that it becomes a trusted, accessible and lively space for the network. This includes sourcing and sharing useful content, keeping resources up to date, highlighting emerging practice and making sure the Hub is easy to navigate. 

You will be a first point of contact for member enquiries through the Hub, responding to questions, signposting support, and working with colleagues across UKCF to ensure members receive timely and helpful responses. 

You will work closely with colleagues to ensure content is timely, relevant and accessible to a wide range of users, and you will help track engagement so we can understand what members are using and where further support may be helpful. 

Resource Library 

You will take ownership of the resource library and keep it organised, dynamic and responsive to member needs. You will bring together tools and learning from across the sector, identify gaps and help ensure resources reflect emerging practice. 

You will curate and summarise content so it is easy for members to find and use, and you will support benchmarking surveys and ad hoc requests for network wide data where needed. 

Your wider responsibilities 

Learning and events 

You will support the delivery of learning days, webinars and the national conference. This includes planning, communication, logistics, content coordination and technical support to help events run smoothly and feel welcoming and accessible. 

You will provide administrative and logistical support for in person and online events, including managing bookings, liaising with venues and suppliers, coordinating travel and catering, preparing materials, and communicating clearly with participants. 

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of UKCF’s biannual conference, leading on administrative and logistical coordination to ensure the event is well organised, well attended and delivered to a high standard. 

You will also curate the monthly newsletter and events bulletin, working with colleagues to gather content, highlight opportunities and share learning in a clear and engaging way. 

From time to time, you may support or contribute to training sessions for UKCF colleagues or network members. 

Insight and field development 

You will help gather intelligence about what is happening across the field. You will notice patterns, spot emerging needs and contribute ideas that support UKCF’s thought leadership. 

You will help surface examples of innovation and learning from across the network and share them through the Member Hub, newsletters and other channels. 

You will also support the team in gathering and responding to member feedback, helping to improve learning, resources and the overall member experience. 

Collaboration across UKCF 

You will work closely with colleagues across UK Community Foundations to ensure field building activity, learning and communications align with wider organisational priorities.

About the team

The Legacy & In Memory (LIM) Marketing Team is responsible for increasing awareness and consideration for gifts in wills and/or an in memory gift. The team develop and deliver cross- funnel and multi-channel legacy consideration campaigns, supporter journeys and engage staff in the cross promotion of gifts in wills and in memory giving.

Our legacy income is growing, and the activities the LIM Marketing Team delivers is leading to long-term income growth to ensure that future generations around the world can change their lives with clean water.

About the role

As our Legacy & In Memory Senior Marketing Officer you will deliver a range of compelling communications to increase consideration for legacy giving and implement personalised stewardship journeys for our legacy and in memory supporters, as well as delivering engaging thank you events, and work closely with the Legacy & In Memory Marketing Manager to drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

• Plan, manage and execute print, email and digital campaigns across the marketing funnel to raise consideration for legacy giving
• Deliver exceptional stewardship, through personal communication journeys, for our Legacy and In Memory supporters
• Manage a legacy and high value supporter event programme
• Operate a rigorous test to learn methodology, regularly monitoring, evaluating and analysing campaigns

Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

• Proven experience in a direct marketing or supporter engagement role
• Proven experience in delivering and/or supporting on events

Key responsibilities: 

1. Strategic Leadership & Income Strategy 

• Develop and deliver a clear, ambitious income generation and partnerships strategy aligned to organisational priorities, with metrics and deliverables set. 

• Build a diversified income model across multiple streams (corporate, trusts & foundations, public sector, earned income, philanthropy). 

• Identify emerging fundraising trends, new tools, opportunities and risks across Scotland, the UK and internationally. 

• Advise the CEO and SLT on financial sustainability, growth opportunities, and strategic partnerships.

• A comprehensive and inspiring strategy with clear targets, focus areas and pipeline 

• Income growth across multiple streams, reducing reliance on single sources. 

• Income generation and monetisation embedded as a core organisational enabler. 

2. Partnerships & Business Development 

• Develop and secure high-value partnerships across corporate and other sectors. 

• Design compelling support propositions, aligning commercial value with social impact. 

• Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities, by understanding the support areas or ‘entry points’ where partners can add value to Young Scot. 

• Lead development of innovative income streams, including: 

• Ethical monetisation of Young Scot assets (data, reach, insights, services) 

• Sponsorships and strategic collaborations 

• New products or services for partners

• Strong conversion rate from pipeline to secured income.

 3. Trusts, Foundations & Fundraising 

• Lead and grow income from trusts, foundations and statutory sources. 

• With programme leads, develop compelling, outcome-driven cases for support. 

• Secure multi-year funding aligned to Young Scot strategic priorities. 

• Oversee high-quality reporting and stewardship.

• A strong, forward-looking funding pipeline. 

• Increased success rate and value of bids, 

• Long-term funder relationships with clear impact reporting. 

4. Relationship Management & External Representation 

• Build and steward senior-level relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders. 

• With the CEO, SLT and young people, act as a visible ambassador for Young Scot. 

• Leverage networks to open new opportunities and raise organisational profile.

5. Delivery, Systems & Performance 

• Enhance and/or create systems, processes and tools (e.g. CRM) to support income generation. 

• Set and track income targets, KPIs and performance metrics. 

• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulation and best practice. 

• Work with finance colleagues on forecasting, reporting and income tracking.

Person Specification

Essential Experience 

• Significant sustained experience leading income generation, fundraising, or business development at a senior level 

• Proven track record of securing income across multiple streams (e.g. trusts & foundations, corporate, public sector, earned income) 

• Demonstrable success in building high-value partnerships that deliver both income and impact 

• Experience developing and delivering income strategies and pipelines 

• Experience personally leading bids, pitches, and negotiations. 

Essential Knowledge & Skills 

• Strong understanding of the funding and partnership landscape in Scotland and beyond 

• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills at a senior level 

• Ability to translate organisational strengths into compelling propositions and cases for support 

• Commercial awareness and ability to identify mutual value opportunities 

• Strong written communication skills, particularly funding applications and proposals 

• Financial literacy, including budgeting, forecasting and income tracking 

• Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
