A bit about the role
In this role of Relationship Fundraising Executive in the Community Fundraising team, you will support delivery of the fundraising strategy in our communities to grow income and support for Action for Children.
You will steward our supporters in Scotland and the North East of England with their fundraising activity, supporting sports participants, fundraising groups, community corporate partners, DIY fundraisers, Methodists, and more.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Supporting the delivery of a range of fundraising campaigns and activities across Scotland and the North East that provide significant income n line with the relationship fundraising strategy.

About the role:

Position Overview:

La Nuova Musica is an early music ensemble led by its founder and Artistic Director, David Bates, and known for spirited performances that receive widespread acclaim from audiences and five-star reviews from the press.

In 2024 they appeared for the first time at the Grange Festival in a series of performances of Monteverdi’s opera, The Coronation of Poppea, hailed by Opera Today as “truly a five-star production, and easily one of the best interpretations of Monteverdi or a Baroque opera I have seen.'
LNM has also appeared in concert halls and festivals across Europe including the Handel Festival Halle, La Seine Musicale Paris, the Göttingen International Handel Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, and the Steffani Festival in Hanover.
Their reputation is enhanced by a series of award-winning recordings for Pentatone and Harmonia Mundi. Their latest recording of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas was selected as one of two opera recordings for the prestigious Abbiata award in Italy, alongside a recording of Katya Kabanova conducted by Simon Rattle with the LSO. It was one of Gramophone’s recordings of the year and BBC R3’s CD Review chose it as their Recording of the Week. “the way it zings off the page bristling with dramatic life and energy from the first bars, and with a range of voices and imaginative instrumental accompaniment, fills it with incident and colour”.BBC Radio 3.
An earlier release, Handel’s Unsung Heroes, was selected by BBC Music Magazine as their Recording of the Month and awarded 5 stars as “a stunning collection of Handel opera numbers. For originality, risk-taking and erudition, it towers above its predecessors. The project is a heroic achievement for all involved.”
La Nuova Musica’s strategic goals
We are bursting with ideas and feel we have so much more that we want to achieve. We perform regularly at the Wigmore Hall in London and are in the process of establishing a presence in Salisbury (David Bates’ hometown) and in Oxford, where we are working with an excellent chamber choir of young amateur singers, Schola Cantorum. By giving the same concert in all these cities, we make best use of our artistic and financial resources at the same time as broadening our reach.
We also aim to deliver new strands of activity. One is relaxed concerts for anyone who needs an informal setting to enjoy our performances. The other offers high quality professional experience to singers and players from the modern instrument world in understanding baroque and early classical music. This is important for several reasons, not least to build and strengthen the UK pool of musicians for the future to preserve this repertoire.
We receive no public funding and are only able to continue thanks to the support of generous individuals who love what we do and want us to do more. As is the case in our sector, ticket sales do not cover the cost of performances. We also need to pay our administrative team for any activity to take place at all. We currently operate thanks to a small but highly experienced and committed team who work remotely, at significantly reduced rates, because of their belief in David Bates and La Nuova Musica. To achieve our vision, we need to secure ongoing funding for core running costs (approximately £120k per year) as well as additional funding for specific artistic projects and other activity (approximately £120k per year, though this will vary from year to year).
Thanks to the fantastic support of generous individuals, LNM can engage with some ambitious projects such as Handel’s Giustino, our first co-production with the Royal Ballet and Opera which takes place in October 2025. We have successfully raised the money required for this and can now put in place some important and ambitious projects for the next three years.
These include:
·Promoting two concerts each year in St Martin in the Fields, which entails risk on a larger scale than the Wigmore Hall where we are engaged (paid) to perform. (£15k p.a.)
·Developing further our work in Salisbury with two annual concerts which feed off our regular series in the Wigmore Hall and St Martin in the Fields. (£12k p.a.)
·Developing our relationships in Oxford along the lines of Salisbury (see above) (12k p.a.)
·Developing a relaxed concert strand where performances are specially prepared and delivered to suit anyone who needs an informal setting to enjoy our performances. (10k per run of events)
·Grow existing strands of work which provide experience for amateur singers, young professional singers and players in informed baroque and early classical performances. (15k per run of events)
·Recording some of our best work to act as a calling card with promoters and the public. (£40- 50k per recording)
·Build on our existing work to make and keep early music relevant, thus protecting its cultural heritage, by commissioning new work for the ensemble which combines the sounds and techniques of early music with that of living composers. (£15-20k per commission)

The Role

The interim Chief Executive is an executive leader, who co-leads the Belgrade with the Artistic Director, reporting to the Board. They are responsible for driving strategic planning with SLT, programming, advocacy and fund-raising, stakeholder management, and overseeing the finance and operations of the organisation. They are one of the public faces of the Theatre, alongside the Artistic Director.
The interim CEO works in close collaboration with the Artistic Director to:
- curate a high quality artistic programme and support the organisation to deliver the artistic strategy.
- provide effective and inclusive leadership for the staff team, drawing on the collective strength of the SLT in their decision making.
The interim CEO drives the income generation for the Theatre, to achieve the balanced budget, and is chiefly responsible for the Main Stage visiting work programme.
The interim CEO line manages an SLT including a Chief Operations Officer (who in turn oversees finance, HR, production and operations); Director of Audiences and Growth, Director of Producing and Co-Creation and Head of Business Support.
What You Will Do
Leadership & Management
- In collaboration with the Artistic Director;
- Provide inspirational leadership and a clear sense of direction to the senior team and wider organisation
- Drive and oversee SLT in the development and delivery of the Belgrade’s story of change and business plans that support the Vision, Mission and Values of The Belgrade, communicating these internally and externally.
- Take an inclusive approach to line management of the SLT which fosters a culture of clear timely decision making and communication.
- Oversee the SLT to ensure the experience all artists, audiences, visitors receive from the Belgrade is inclusive, informed and enriching; and the building provides a welcoming, safe space.
- Ensure a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability throughout the organisation.
Programming
- Work closely with the Artistic Director and SLT to curate and deliver a high-quality and relevant programme which balances artistic, financial and operational needs, taking chief responsibility for the visiting work.
- Develop strategic relationships with a wide range of commercial producers and visiting companies to secure appropriate visiting work and negotiate the deals maximising the benefits of these partnerships for the commercial benefit and artistic reputation of the Belgrade.
- Support the Artistic Director to shape the artistic strategy and creative direction of the theatre.
- In collaboration with the Artistic Director,
- agree lead productions and secure co-producers
- Bring in co-productions that enhance the programme.
Governance
- Work closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees to ensure best practice in governance, maintaining effective working relationships with all Trustees.
- Support the implementation of the Board Effectiveness plan.
- Develop and maintain robust and effective risk management systems with SLT.
- Work closely with the SLT to ensure full compliance with all legal obligations and statutory requirements, including the preparation of Annual Report and Financial Statements, and annual returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission.
- Carry out any other tasks that may be allocated by the Board of Trustees.
External Relations
- Nurture excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, partners and supporters, including Arts Council England (ACE) and Coventry City Council (CCC); specifically, leading on NPO applications, and working to meet the objectives of CCC’s Cultural Plans.
- Continue to develop The Belgrade’s role as a strategic partner and cultural leader locally and regionally.
- Act as advocate and ambassador for the Belgrade, representing the organisation publicly, seeking out opportunities to raise the profile of the Belgrade.
- Lead on the Reporting to Funders, with support of Head of Business Support, and in collaboration with the AD.
- The Interim CEO will represent the theatre in strategic and cultural development forums including Culture Works, and UK Theatre, in collaboration with the AD
Financial and Operational Overview
- Oversee the Chief Operating Officer to ensure;
- Robust financial management of the organisation, ensuring expenditure and commitments are made within available resources, risk is managed effectively.
- Budgets are appropriately set and monitored.
- Accounting information supplied in a timely manner and ensuring there is a strong cash-flow position at all times.
Income Generation
- Take a pro-active approach to the continuing growth of the Belgrade’s commercial capability, ensuring all opportunities for generating income are maximised through;
- Oversee the Director of Audiences and Growth and COO in driving the Belgrade’s commercial capacity, ensuring the commercial potential of the building is maximised, particularly through catering and conferencing.
- Oversee the Director of Audiences and Growth in the delivery of The Belgrade’s fundraising strategy, playing a visible leading role in fundraising events as appropriate.
What Are We Looking For ?
Essential: You will be able to demonstrate this range of skills and experience:
Commitment to the vision, mission and values of The Belgrade.
Either: significant senior management experience in a theatre of a similar scale to The Belgrade
Or: significant experience of leadership at a senior level in the cultural industries, in an organisation of a similar scale to the Belgrade.
- Considerable experience in financial management of complex, large scale budgets, and a proven track record in balancing Artistic risk and ambition with sound financial management.
- Proven track record in programming commercially and artistically successful seasons of work.
- Ability to nurture a diverse network of industry contacts nationally and internationally.
- Understanding of the UK arts and theatre scene; knowledge of the issues facing subsidised theatre.

- The Belgrade operates a House Agreement based on the UK Theatre (formerly TMA)/BECTU (Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre Union) Agreement and its Staff Handbook outlines the terms on sick pay, maternity leave and pay, paternity leave and pay, grievance and discipline and other relevant staff matters
- Employees’ health and safety is of paramount importance, and Management insists that an employee obtains written express permission to take on any paid work or other employment during periods of TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) or holiday. No permission will be given for the first 28 days of holiday as this is a statutory requirement
- On appointment the successful candidate must be able to provide the correct documents as proof of their right to work in the UK
- The candidate’s contract of employment with the Belgrade Theatre does not come into force until the first day of work
- Staff are entitled to tickets for shows at the Belgrade Theatre, subject to particular conditions and 10% discount at the Theatre’s Café and Bars

- Working Hours: Your normal hours of work will be 39 hours per week over Monday to Friday, but we are flexible to those considering a 32 hour week post. There will be occasional evening and weekend work. You are expected to offer reasonable flexibility in your working arrangements where it is considered necessary to undertake the duties you have been employed to perform and in the interests of the Theatre. There is no provision for payment of overtime
- Overtime: Is not payable but 6th day working and excessive additional hours will attract TOIL (time off in lieu) if agreed in advance with the Line Manager

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Communications and Events Coordinator lead the development and delivery of Khulisa’s communications strategy and key campaigns, designed to engage our supporters, stakeholders, and the wider UK public.
About Khulisa:
Khulisa, meaning 'nurture' in the Zulu language of South Africa, is an award-winning charity dedicated to providing therapeutic support to young people. We focus on reaching those who are most at risk – young people from deprived communities who are often marginalized, vulnerable to exclusion, and at heightened risk of becoming involved in crime.
Our approach centres on safe, exploratory methods that aim to understand behaviour and experiences often rooted in trauma, abuse, and neglect. We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we also work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care. Currently, our services are active in London and Manchester.
About the role:
This role will be a key part of helping to raise awareness of Khulisa’s mission and the issues we address, strengthening support for our programmes. The postholders will also take ownership of planning and delivering all Khulisa events, ensuring they are impactful and well-executed.
- Develop and deliver Khulisa’s Communications and Branding Strategy in line with the strategic plan.
- Lead public engagement campaigns to raise awareness, promote youth voice, and drive participation.
- Plan and manage events, including fundraising and challenge events, from concept to delivery.
- Create and manage digital content across social media, website, newsletters, and other channels.
- Recruit and supervise volunteers to support communications and event-related activities.

The post holder will be required to work from home permanently but be willing and able to easily travel to various locations across the London and the North West as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role and to engage with stakeholders and colleagues.
What we're looking for:
1. Abilities/Experiences
- Experience in digital campaigning and digital content creation.
- Experience of planning and delivering events, including fundraising events, liaising with partners, suppliers and colleagues.
- Excellent written, copywriting and editing skills and proven ability to communicate campaigning messages in a compelling, succinct and engaging way.
- Experience creating digital content for a variety of audiences, including experience of using a range of digital software and tools, and knowledge of message testing and optimisation.
- Experience in designing popular, results-oriented and successful campaigns.
- Ability to use design software (such as InDesign, Canva, Photoshop and Illustrator).
- Experience working within a close-knit team in a busy and fast paced working environment.
- Demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise own workload with minimum supervision.
- Ability to buy strongly into strategic objectives and reflect passion for Khulisa’s work with and for young people.
- Experience of using Salesforce or similar CRM system as well as all-in-one marketing platform such as
- Mailchimp to deliver effective long-term public engagement.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends when required.
2. Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Project Management, Events Management or Communications, or equivalent years of experience.
3. Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of relevant software and digital tools to deliver effective long-term public engagement and digital fundraising campaigns.
- Strong knowledge of WordPress or similar website builder.
- Knowledge of best practice in digital fundraising.
