As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping 56,000 young people each year at its 44 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years.
We are looking to appoint two Fundraising Officers to join our highly successful fundraising department, working within either our Corporate or University teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in fundraising and the third sector, or to build on your existing experience. These roles will provide vital support across our Fundraising Team helping you develop the key skills needed to become a successful fundraising professional in the years ahead.

We are a delivery organisation providing frontline educational services for young people. We are an organisation with team members at different stages of their career, including many in their first roles: We are committed to nurturing talent and providing a developmental culture for all. Our team works in-person 4 days per week (or 3 days for a 0.8 FTE staff member) with 1 day working from home.

This role will be based at our Head Office in London.
Salary:
£30,000 (for candidates with no/ limited fundraising experience) up to £32,400 (for a more experienced candidate)
Annual Leave:
Full-time staff entitlement, pro-rated for part-time staff: 33 days (inc bank & public holidays) + 3 closure days (two in December and one in July) + additional length of service entitlement (one day per year of service, up to 5 days)

Purpose
The Marketing Assistant is a varied role, working primarily in our Supporter Relations team, but also supporting other areas of the Fundraising and Communications team.
The primary focus of this position is to provide an excellent customer experience for CBM supporters so that every interaction is carried out with excellence, integrity and efficiency. This will help to create and be part of a supporter experience that develops and maintains long-term relationships with dedicated individuals and churches across the UK. The Marketing Assistant will ensure supporters feel valued and engaged with CBMs work.
On a day-to-day basis the position holder will be engaging with supporters by phone, email and writing, in responding to a wide range of enquiries, and carrying out administrative activities associated with marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials.
The successful applicant requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as confidence to make outbound phone calls to build relationships, thank supporters, to share updates on our work, and ask for donations to build relationships, grow supporter engagement and maximise long-term income.
The position is part of a dedicated and enthusiastic Fundraising and Communications team, and part of this role is to provide additional administrative support to the wider team, specifically in areas such as 121 supporter communications to fundraisers doing events, churches, and legacy and in memoriam supporters.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inbound enquiries (40%)
Respond to the needs of CBM supporters and the public through the handling of inbound calls and emails in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
This includes:
a. Taking and processing donations over the telephone.
b. Handling requests, feedback and complaints in a respectful and timely manner, and offering solutions when appropriate.
c. Updating supporter records on the Customer Relationship Management system (currently Salesforce) and carrying out mail or email follow-up when required.
d. Responding to emails in the giving inbox, directing queries appropriately and maintaining organised records of communication.
e. Co-ordinating and responding to comments made on CBM’s social media platforms.
2. Outbound 121 communications (30%):
Carry out outbound calls to potential and existing supporters to inspire donations and explain over the telephone how support will transform lives, following set briefs and guidelines, but when applicable engaging supporters in conversation in a non-scripted approach. This includes:
a. Regular outbound calls and emails include thanking and stewardship communications, asking for support by Direct Debit, clarifying Gift Aid statuses, and discussing the possibility of supporting the charity in a Will.
b. Update the outcome of calls on supporter records on the CRM system.
c. Process donations made over the phone, carrying out mail or email follow-up when required, using existing materials and letter templates.
d. Refer follow up actions that are outside of the team’s remit to the relevant team or individual.
e. Contribute to the creation and development of guidelines for in- and out-bound telephone conversations.
3. Additional administrative duties (30%):
Perform a variety of other administrative tasks to support the wider fundraising team:
a. Data inputting, preparation and reports.
b. Updating and proofing fundraising materials.
c. Supporting speaker and church coordination when required.
d. Co-ordinating the stock and the distribution of supporter materials and fundraiser resources.
e. Mailing out church packs, thank you letters, and personalised communications, such as handwritten cards.
f. Liaise with colleagues and attend meetings to ensure up-to-date knowledge of CBM’s work.
g. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, which reflects the ambitions of CBM.

The role is one of the most exciting digital opportunities in the sector; as Head of Digital you'll lead a team working across digital marketing and fundraising, communication and content, projects and infrastructure, insight, UX, skills, innovation and AI. A busy role with stakeholder engagement at its core, you'll work with a diverse internal stakeholder group to harness support and energy for the organisation's ongoing digital transformation.
Interim Head of Digital
Contract: One-year fixed term maternity cover contract
Salary: £68,221 London hybrid salary (candidates required to spend a minimum of 40% of each month in London HQ) or £60,912 for home based or less than 40% time in London
Location: Ideally hybrid between home and London office with a minimum of two days per week (or 40% of month) in the office, with less time in office also considered
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week with flexible working options fully supported, including condensed hours and job sharing

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:
- Lead on the implementation of the new digital strategy, to support the delivery of mission priorities across the organisation
- Influence senior leaders to both develop in their confidence digital and champion digital transformation across the territory
- Lead and manage the Digital team ensuring that: objectives are successfully delivered, high performing team culture is embedded, and that employee wellbeing is at the top of your agenda
- Be responsible for development and oversight of the AI roadmap for the organisation, including an AI policy and implementation of AI in an ethical framework across the territory, in collaboration with IT and other business partners
- Work within the culture of The Salvation Army as a church and as a charity in both a responsive and opportunistic way, successfully working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, responding to the external environment and offering digital advice and solutions
- Be the strategic lead on the effective selection and use of digital channels for the organisation, orchestrating execution of campaigns and communications through digital to meet objectives
- Ensure product ownership and governance of key digital platforms to ensure continuous development, great UX and high availability by overseeing agencies, suppliers, platform providers to ensure objectives are met efficiently
- Collaborate with fundraising to enable them to meet targets through digital channels to deliver income growth and to meet digital specific income targets
- Be responsible for managing the Digital budget, allocating cost centres across digital activity including setting, monitoring, forecasting, and providing financial reporting as required
- Lead a culture of systematic learning and improvement; drive the use of digital analysis tools, data, results and the deployment of this in all aspects of digital development and lead on overarching programme to upskill the organisation on digital and AI, including bringing senior leaders on board
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current digital and charity (digital) trends, technology and best practice through networking, attending conferences and horizon scanning
- Lead and be accountable for ensuring that all relevant digital regulatory, ethical and compliance requirements are met

- Experience of developing and leading a digital team and the successful implementation of major digital change, transformation and AI
- A demonstrable passion for digital, with subject matter expertise and up to date knowledge of the charity digital market, current trends in the digital space and best practice platforms and techniques across digital communications, fundraising, AI, marketing and infrastructure
- Proven excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees and teams, identify and nurture talent and manage performance effectively to deliver team as well as organisational objectives
- Proven experience of leading multiple cross functional workstreams with a typical 5-10-year time horizon, with proven project management skills and the ability to maximise the impact of available resources
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at senior level and inspire, engage, build relationships and negotiate between internal and external stakeholders with a high level of diplomacy
- Proven experience of leveraging digital agencies or in house teams for digital channels such as website, email systems, digital advertising
- A strong understanding and experience of implementing relevant regulatory and compliance requirements related to digital and AI
- The ability and willingness to work within and be empathic with the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army Mission
