Overview
Energise Africa is at an exciting and pivotal time in its development. We are currently recruiting a Commercial Director to drive the business as it looks to scale. Energise Africa has been founded and incubated by two of the leading direct impact investing platforms in Europe, Ethex in the UK and Lendahand in the Netherlands and backed by incredible supporters such as UKAid and P4G. Since 2017, during this seed stage, Energise Africa has raised over £35m from UK retail investors to accelerate energy access in Sub–Saharan Africa and has won numerous awards including the UN Climate Action award for climate friendly investments.
As we get ready to take on new investment, and expand into new geographies and sectors, it is time for the organisation to build a new dedicated team.
Commercial Director
To take our business to the next level we need a dedicated Commercial Director to help accelerate our growth.
There are four key strands to the role:
Strategy and New Business
· Work alongside the CEO to develop the growth strategy for Energise Africa
· Managing existing and develop new origination partnerships to bring new issuers to the platform
· Lead the EA origination efforts and structure proposed transactions
· Work alongside our operations team to ensure efficient processes are developed and implemented to ensure smooth onboarding of new investees
· Work alongside our marketing team to ensure that origination partners and investees give us the information that they need to effectively promote investment opportunities
· Drafting and negotiation of agreements with origination partners and prospective investees
· Lead the due diligence process, present cases to the Investment Committee and onboard new investees
· Manage existing and explore new co-financing partnerships
Investee Management
· Demonstrate excellent relationship management with our origination partners and investees.
· Monitor and manage the investment portfolio along with our origination partners.
· Manage workout situations and restructuring of clients in arrears with support from the legal team and origination partners.
Leadership
· As a key member of the Energise Africa Senior Management Team, help to build the investment strategy for Energise Africa and to deliver against agreed objectives.
Product Development
· Cooperate in product development which may involve different currency solutions, guarantees and de-risking projects as well as looking at innovative financing structures.
· Support the development of new tools and technology to make the investment process more efficient.
Reports to: CEO Energise Africa
Key skills and experience:
· A passion for sustainable development/impact investing or similar.
· 5 years of experience in impact investing (debt or equity) or corporate lending in emerging markets and/or in renewable energy or climate finance sectors.
· Experience of helping to scale a start-up and/or entrepreneurship within a company.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Great negotiation skills - cooperative, empathetic and get the deals closed.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent EA at the highest levels.
· Fluent in English and ideally French or Spanish, both written and spoken.
· Willing to travel internationally (global emerging/frontier markets and European countries).
· Tech-savvy and proven experience with data-driven investment decisions.
· Bachelors or Masters degree.

The Project Officer (Strategic Data and Measurement Analyst) is an important new role at the Diocese, as you will provide a comprehensive understanding of our data sets to afford context and insight to the Deaneries, parishes and the Diocese which will help develop projects and programmes to drive growth in church attendance.
This role would suit someone who is an excellent and inquisitive administrative professional looking to expand into the field of data analysis.
As Project Officer, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of all types of datasets available within the Diocese, including demographic data, attendance records, retention statistics and financial records, whilst identifying and implementing appropriate tools and methodologies for collecting and analysing new data insights.
An integral member of the Strategy Team and reporting to the Strategic Programme Manager, you will lead data analysis work for projects as needed, providing statistical expertise and composing narrative insights for project reports to inform decision making, support funding cases and investment requests.
Acting as a point of contact between the project office and other stakeholders, you will provide coordination and support as needed to ensure the smooth implementation of projects. You will also assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and documenting minutes, ensuring timely progress and effective communication within the team and with external partners.
In addition, you will represent the Strategic Programme Manager at project reviews, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes as needed.
Educated to degree level in a related subject or with equivalent experience, you should have familiarity with a variety of ways of presenting complex data clearly and be able to manage and organise a range of datasets from multiple sources to enable analysis, presentation and the identification of synergies.
Your enquiring mind and careful approach to manipulating and mining data to create insights and information, along with your ability to interpret data through an understanding of the project’s context, will ensure you are able to frame the questions that matter.
A high degree of IT literacy including use of Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools and a working knowledge of databases, along with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills and a creative ability to deliver insights in clear and accessible written, verbal and visual media formats are essential.
Experience of using Business Intelligence tools and familiarity with basic project management principles would be desirable, as would being sympathetic with the mission and ethos of the Christian Church, the Church of England, the Diocese of Canterbury and the vision and values of our church schools.

As Project Support Officer you will support the London & South East Area Manager and Regional Managers with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training, giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our London & South East projects as and when required to aid development and growth within the region.
Each of our Projects is run by Project Leaders (volunteer position) and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. Your will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects, knowing that you have helped with the embedding of volunteers, along with supporting expansion plans within their areas. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new Project Leaders for the Area.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects. You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.
This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include evening and weekend work. As well as projects across London, our South East projects include Southampton, Portsmouth, Aylesbury and exciting new openings in Slough and Reading in 2024.

As a member of a small team within the Finance Department dedicated to supporting Homelessness Managers, the post holder will focus on contracts for Housing Related Support (HRS), modelling costs over contract life, reviewing financial performance, and meeting contract reporting requirements. The Salvation Army currently holds 32 contracts worth £14 million in Southern England and Wales.
Key responsibilities:
- To support Homelessness Services (HS) to prepare an annual budget for each existing service (both accommodation-based and non-accommodation based), and for new services that it wishes to bid for at tender.
- To support HS in reviewing I&Es and monitoring financial data to optimise the in-year performance of its services.
- To complete financial monitoring returns for commissioners of existing HRS contracts.
- To track contract periods and advise on invoicing requirements to ensure income is received promptly.
The successful applicant will have.
- Financial skills including budgeting, analysing I&Es, developing financial models, to enable strategic and commercial decision making.
- Knowledge of the funding regime for HRS services and supported accommodation, and ability to differentiate between costs eligible to be funded by HRS contracts and accommodation charges (housing benefit).
- Knowledge of HRS delivery models, ideally gained through experience of commissioning or delivering HRS services.

Background:
Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.
Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.
As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.
Role description:
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage branch Community and Events, taking a lead for specific awareness events and fundraising events or activities.
- Organise events, including liaison with venues, suppliers, monitoring expenditure, volunteers and participants and ensure all preparation is complete.
- Ensure an excellent level of supporter care and stewardship with supporters is maintained and developed.

This role will support the Local Authority and Environmental Partnerships Manager to educate electrical producers and retailers on their environmental obligations. And you’ll work with the inhouse team to develop communications and toolkits to help these businesses understand their environmental obligations. You’ll also work with the Environment Agency who are responsible for managing and investigating any potential ‘Freeriders’.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of statistical analysis, data interpretation, and reporting. We are seeking a strong communicator, who can work across teams and levels, explaining complex information in a clear and understandable way.
The successful candidate will have a passion for data and insight combined with an understanding of campaign analysis and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as attrition and LTV. JOB PROFILE
Reporting to the UK Head of Communications and Giving (HC&G), you will be at the forefront of demonstrating to the public how Afghanaid is changing lives in Afghanistan, and raise awareness of key issues communities we work with are facing. RESPONSIBILITIES
Media and Public Relations
- Design and action an annual Media and PR strategy based on wider team and organisational goals;

The Partnership Manager will oversee and deliver account management across our mentoring partnership portfolio.
